It's a direct line from fake news to violence.
From saying the news is fake, facts / truth / reality is fake, to elections are fake... to Democracy is fake.
Once they are in that mind set... only a matter of time until they believe violence is the only option.

I for one think this is the correct outcome even though I'm not a fan of the Ranked Voting System.

Palin is a dumb ass and needs to stay at home.

The Alaska election and RCV actually opened a big conversation up last night between my wife and I.

Oregon Governor race is going to be a national one to watch. 3 women, one is mushy left of center(D), one far right (R), one right of center (Independent) that is running as essentially a Perot'esque spoiler. But for who...I'm not sure yet. She's going to try and pull away moderates from both sides of the isle but I don't know which candidate that hurts most.

RCV would be amazing to see in action in this election.

RCV would certainly have:
R, I, D
D, I, R
I, D, R
I, R, D

But I can't see any situations where it would ever be R,D,I or D,R,I.

I can't figure out how that would actually play out in a statewide election.

I'm more of a traditionalist and old. I like what I am used too. I really don't see any inherent problems with it. Seems weird having everyone on the same ballot (Dems, Repubs and Independents).

I can respect that. But I can also respect it's part of the reason we are stuck in the archaic two party system we have.

She had to go there in order to avoid/divert from the fact that it was all on her that she lost. Let's wait and see if the RNC throws her under the bus or comes to her aid with financing a Trump style "I got robbed" perpetual recount and subterfuge campaign. So far though it looks like she got "tire tracks all across your back" (Hendrix).

The hope is that it results in more parties that appear. Instead of 13 D and R presidential candidates, you end up with like 3 of each, and like 6 independents/some-other-party.

But the election to determine who actually wins the seat for a full term occurs in November, am I right?

So, Sarah goes up against the woman who beat her, Democrat Mary Peltola, as well as fellow Republican Nick Begich III.

She gets another chance.

RCV is actually more likely going to help Republicans after Dobbs. There is going to be crazy no exceptions Republican and a more sane 15 week Republican or Libertarian running against a Democrat in many elections.

Yeah, this was only a special midterm election to take the seat vacated by the 49 year holder of the seat who passed away. So there'll be another, but I think she'd have to screw up fast and hard to lose the regular election to retain the seat. Let's hope, anyway.

It empowers the actual voters, which should be a no brainer for people who believe they are the majority, but it doesn't matter now. RCV has burned them too much. Why address the "candidate quality issue" when you can cue the tears, declare RCV just another dirty lib tool to steal elections? This democracy stuff hurts the feels and math is stupid, waaaah.

The party that wants state legislatures to be able to override election results if they want to, thinks RCV elections are inherently rigged. Pretty hilarious stuff from the usual shit spewers really, looking at you Tom Cotton.

Except they are the one's that implemented the RCV correct? to give themselves more of an advantage most likely. The R's I am talking about.

Great result but remember this was a special election for the remainder of the current term, little more than three months. This seat will be up for election in November. Hopefully Palin then repeats her spoiled child performance.
