Bump! Just got a SmartPhone...streaming TV over a GPRS connection! 😀

How's the quality of the video? I just got Axim X50V and was thinking about streaming via wi-fi..

I am on my wifi at work and the TV looks and sounds GREAT on my Axim X51v. I would imagine it's be just as good on your X50. Once it initiates and buffers (under 15 seconds normally), it is smooth to me. I am running it off a Dell Dimension 8400 3.4/2GB and 3.0/384 DSL at home with a MCE250 tuner.

Mine was hit hard for the first 15 minutes, then it went back to normal. While playing to another device, I have no idea, but I haven't had any chopping/stuttering problems at all.

anybody at work with Websense able to stream anything? my work has websense installed and i can't stream video, tv, or music...

Just tried it on my theater 550 card, and it works great. Now i can watch my MLB at work on my computer!

bump for the possibility that this will allow me to watch the world cup.

I have an athlon 64 3000+, which is only 2ghz I think, and it says you need a 2.4ghz cpu to run. hopefully mine works. it will be coming off comcast 6mb internet connection using a cheapo winfast tv card.

freakin port 80 problem is pissing me off. are people using this with windows media 11 beta at all?

You should have no problems. I could stream live TV off an Athlon XP 2400 or something without any issues.

Yes, I am using WMP11 at my office right now, watching Spaced through Orb off my Media Center PC. 😀

hmm, it looks like its only if you use media player 11 on your host 😕

do you have 11 on your mce host?

No, I don't know how it will mess with the Media Center app since it's beta, so I haven't installed it (although I really do like it on my other computers).

I have been using this product with ATI AIW 9600 with some issues previously. But now with the latest ATI software, it works fine. ORB is really a great product. I hope it will always be free to use.

Can anyone recommend a cheap tuner card that is known to work well? I'd like to be able to stream realtime TV as well as be able to setup season passes and individual show recordings. Would also be able to watch the recorded shows on the original machine from time to time. Running XP Pro and streaming either to another XP laptop over the net or to a Treo 700w w EVDO. Reliability, ease of setup and not breaking the bank are important.

BTW, I travel about 75% of the time for work and Orb seriously kicks 4$$. Since I don't want to fill my laptop's drive w movies and mp3's I used to have to carry around a crap load of DVDs and remember what was on what. Now I just stream it from home.

It appears that buy.com has the Hauppauge 150 MCE white box for $57 w/o rebates...looks like a good deal. You can use it with XP once you download the appropriate drivers.

Also, I just noticed they added a file browser, a nice feature, but it makes me a little nervous since it has zero security features.

What dis/advantage does the MCE version provide over the regular one? Just running XP Pro and I would rather pay a couple bucks more for something that will def work.

MCE version is assuming you will be using it with Windows Media Center Ed. so it does not include a remote since you will already have one...works fine with XP Pro.

Bump for a cool thread and questions...

How is security with this program? I have an old PC that I'm setting up as a HTPC

Duron 800mhz
256 PC 133
FX5200
Hauppauge 150 PCI (Non-MCE)

I'm wondering if I could off-load the recorded programs onto a shared folder on my faster box (one that more than meets the requirements for the program) and stream them from there.

Questions:

1. How good is security?
2. Can I use my weak box to record the programs, then save them to a folder where they can be accessed/streamed from a more powerful computer?

Thanks.
