I have a Pinnacle PCI Pro Card (pity me) and had the TV streaming working and all of a sudden it doesn't.
Any thoughts?

thanks.

Anyone know if there's a way to save a previously recorded show in another format? I can't fast forward through commercials in WMP from time to time I'll be watching a show I recorded and it will have issues partway through and there's no way to immediately get back to the previous point. For the sake of argument I'm primarily concerned with being able to do this locally on the machine I recorded it on.

Bump for open 2.0 Beta. I just set it up and really dig the new interface, especially the live TV guide, much, much better.

Ironic I found this post, I had the same problem just recently. To fix it, on your host machine, install the 3ivx codec (Google it), go into its settings, and set DirectShow priority to High. Worked for me.

Some more stuff. I LOVE this service. It is incredible to be able to access all my media on my main computer at school from home while I'm on break. I do not stream TV but that also sounds cool, and being able to do it anywhere there's WiFI with your laptop? Awesome. Has anyone tried this with a PDA/SmartPhone that has browser capabilities? Really interested in how well it works. And the 2.0 interface is pretty impressive and powerful for being a website.

I really hope their ad implementation works out well so this can continue being a free service!

archcommus - a friend of mine tried it on his pda/smartphone (over cellular lines) and he said it worked fine

(This was a few months ago... so not with the '2.0 interface' -- if that makes a difference. I haven't looked at the 2.0 thing yet.)

Probably dumb question but is this orb like the sling box only the orb uses software whereas the slingbox is hardware.

2nd question does the orb produce similar picture quality as the sling box???

I've been using it on my Axim X50v. Works great! I might have to try the beta this weekend...

I use it on my T-Mobile SDA, and video and music playback work just fine. Video is not as smooth as my slingbox on my SDA though.

Yeah, I had issues with this on my NAS. I would need to remove the folder from the library, then re-add it. It would be fine for a while.

I ended up buying a Ximeta NDAS, and since this effectively works like just another hard drive on your system, I haven't had any issues (yet).

not sure, if this is a silly question, but can Orb be used without a TV Tuner?

can you use it just for streaming video files, pics, and MP3s?

Yep, Live TV is totally optional.

FYI, Orb also works with Wii Opera browser, playing music & video through Flash.

Through a Flash plugin in the browser (like YouTube) instead of WMP or whatever other mediaplayers it uses on desktops/pdas/phones.
