It appears, that all you have to do is threaten judges with impeachment and they will cave, issuing a ruling that in itself goes against what the judge's very explanation says in the opinion. His opinion pretty much says that such federal agencies have the authority to access such information... but DOGE is not an agency, which counters the ruling he made with his own words. We are totally fucked in this country when our judges refuse to block illegal and unconstitutional actions, specially when their own words say the opposite of what they ruled. Not only do we have a SCOTUS that issues Calvin Ball rulings, we now have other federal judges doing it to, in what appears to be to protect their own interests and not the rule of law, the constitution, or the people of this country.

That it was their BELIEF in those VALUES that gave them the idea they could take on the largest military in the world?

It's hard to spend 5% indefinitely, but once the whole of Europe adopts a common weapons structure, not 10 types of tanks, 10 troop carriers etc and finally gets a unitary army core, then yes, it's gonna be self sufficient. No close enemy would ever be able to stand up to that, unless USA turns Command and Conquer

It's that indiscriminate aspect of it that I don't get. Surely even Musk and his fellow plutocrats need some parts of government to be functional?

It's like some wild leap of neoliberal faith, that the market/private sector will always provide, so you just remove the government services and trust in God/The Private Sector, to step up and deal with the next pandemic, say. Or is there some other gameplan here, some 4d chess move that I'm missing?
