Also goes to show that some Republicans will be open to public pressure - but that actually means picking up the phone, going to their meetings, and pestering them if you have one.

Also don't forget that the first wave of Cuban immigrants that came to the US were the rich landowners and others who supported the Batista dictatorship. They fled to Florida after losing to Castro and have never been known as anything but hard right.

It's also goddamned expensive compared to commercial flights. It'll cost actual trillions to clear out everyone this way.

Im not sure it really matters to much, somebody has to baby sit, and there is more than one way for Musk to contact Trump.Musk is not going to go way simply because she wants him to. He'll retain a direct line to felon47 he purchased for $200M+. Musk thought he bought in with the billions in election money but no tit is going to milk him dry. If he pisses Donny boy off enough, he''ll be paying bribes to keep his contracts and contacts. He invested hundreds of millions into Trump's coffers. Musk will demand his pound of flesh. This just might get interesting. Donald doesn't share the spotlight. Susie is the front. She's playing bad cop on the orders of one person - and it ain't Leon.

I looked this up earlier:According to the DOD comptroller, as of fall 2022, the average hourly cost of operating a C-17 was about $21,000 and the average hourly cost of operating a C-130E was between $68,000 and $71,000. Based on these figures it can be estimated that the C-17 flight on Thursday that carried 80 migrants from El Paso, Texas to Guatemala City would have cost roughly $252,000. For the same 12-hour flight using the C-130E, it would cost between $816,000 and $852,000.

In comparison, a flight directly chartered by DHS’ Immigration and Customs Enforcement is $8,577, according to estimates posted by the agency

So...$3150 each on the C-17, as much as $10,650 each for the C-130...compared to $107 for a chartered flight.

Maybe this is something for DOGE to look at.

Flights are expensive, but they look good for the cameras.

Once things are in motion, it won't be flights, it'll be boxcars.

For Mexico yes there is the land border but the Mexicans are gonna nix the US trying to deport non-Mex nationals to them.

And they might be sending the million and a half Americans living in Mexico back the same way...

I agree with your point, but you have to remember those a fully burdened costs, and a shit ton of that is burden. Meaning, flying less actually most the cost per hour go up a lot.
