Grassley isn't surprised. Dinosaurs like Chuck and Moscow Mitch are part of the problem, not part of the solution. No idea why they're now pretending to have a spine.

I don't know much about Murkowski but she hardly belongs in the GOP anymore. Might be the only decent GOP Republican Senator remaining lol.
I mean they already tried to oust her once and she won as a write-in after losing the Republican primary.

She, Liz Cheney, and Mitt Romney are similar people to me - people who hold a lot of positions I think are terrible but who have at least a shred of integrity. They are an opposition I can at least respect even if I would never vote for them. (Unless against a trumpkin or something)

Greenland will probably be just as useless in 20 years as it is today. Permafrost does not make good farm land, and it's otherwise just empty space which we already have tons of. It does provide cheaper access to some resources but like, we have plenty of that too.

The whole 'melt of northern climes will actually help us!' is mostly copium.

Note this isn't a bash on the people of Greenland, just the land itself. No different from Northern Canada or Siberia.
Nobody wants Greenland to farm. They want to mine it.

Back in Trump 1.0 during the ACA repeal effort Trump made Zinke (Interior Sec) call and threaten her to switch her vote. She essentially told him to fuck off and held up nominations for the agency and threatened his appropriations. Some time later he goes to Alaska and has nothing but gushingly nice things to say about her lol.

Even if one does not entirely agree with her one kind of has to admire her willingness to squash the nuts of anybody who tires to muscle her.

The Colombians should retaliate and recall their ambassador. If the Chinese have any sense at all there is a high ranking official boarding a plane to Bogota right now.

Comrade Xi keeps wining and he doesn't even need to do anything.

25% on all this, probably 50% next month.

Colombia was already in the process of joining BRICS after Trump was elected. Looks like they probably made the smart move. The US under Trump will be a pariah on the world stage. We are now an unreliable ally, imperialist again, and a bigger bully than ever so it’s not going to be to long till everyone tells the US to fuck off, and rightfully so.

We have been a fickle ally especially to countries in Latin America but we have never been this unreliable to everyone(except Israel) in modern times.

lol, lmfao really? i guess invading and replacing governments doesn't mean you are not reliable?

He's gone mad!

Trump wrote on Truth Social that the refusal by Colombian President Gustavo Petro to accept the flights jeopardized U.S. national security.
The retaliatory measures include imposing 25% tariffs on all Colombian goods coming into the United States, which will go up to 50% in one week; a travel ban and visa revocations on Colombian government officials; and emergency treasury, banking and financial sanctions...

No he is going maximum attack in the hope they will fold. If they do, he will apply to a new place.

If they don’t he will give up because he has no actual plan.

I’m pretty sure that honeymoon is over. The “President Musk” comments have most likely predictably gotten under Trump’s thin skin and he’s deliberately sidelining him, as seen by his announcing an AI initiative with Altman.

Musk is about to learn what undying loyalty, time and money to Trump gets you in return - absolutely nothing.
This is what I don't get about rich people sucking up to strongmen. Strongmen need the rich to help them come into power, once in power they don't need the rich people any more. And the rich people almost always end up worse off than they were before they helped install the strongman. Look how many rich people have fallen out of windows in Russia.

So you guys got any tips on those private prison stocks?

AOC just did it again.

TYT Investigates, as in The Young Turks with Cenk? I'd rather not give that clown's channel any viewers.
Shipping people home in irons is ICE protocol I think, even if it's entirely unnecessary. There is going to be a lot of attention on exactly how their nationals are repatriated and some things these governments might have looked the other way on before will become diplomatic issues.
Turns out making somewhat bad but normal things very public, other countries will feel the need to do very public things to protect their interests. It's really unnecessary rake stepping.

Romney was not opposition, he never cast a meaningful vote against Trump. He only cast votes against him in impeachment trials that were going nowhere so he could attention whore for the cameras. He's not opposition when voted for Kavanaugh and voted for the skinny repeal of the ACA. Romney is a sleazeball who looted companies and only hated Trump because he miscalculated that Trump wouldn't be able to win elections and deliver him tax cuts. Romney was one of the fakest of the fakes in DC. Murkowski is definitely a person worth respecting but not looting Romney.

Trump is going to step on all the rakes and touch all the stoves, and he's surrounded himself with people who will help him do just that, because they're nincompoops.

A big risk for Trump is that Petro's defiance catches on. Colombia is tiny but just told him to take a long walk off a short pier and they don't care what he does. I would bet almost anything that China is courting central and South American countries just waiting for him to throw away American influence.
