He said you just turn a valve, and water flows all the way from the PNW. 🤣
Trump is the hero of the poorly informed. He makes it OK for his cult members to be feckless. And he knows this. Exulting in this makes it simple for him to make offhand uninformed insults to his detractors.

Looks like Hegseth is about to be confirmed with a tie-breaking VP vote. Good thing Secretary of Defense isn't some important job, and it's no big deal if an abusive alcoholic takes the reigns there...

The admin has ordered federal employees to snitch on their coworkers who are secretly being DEI.

Pretty soon Trump will offer free lottery tickets for every neighbor you turn in for talking bad about him.

It sure would be a shame if people were to start flooding the email address they’ve set up with spam. Oh, wait! so it begins!

Joni Ernst voting to confirm a rapist as Sec Def says so much about how fucked up the GOP is.

abusive alcoholic with Crusader slogans as tattoos and a history of things like

When the Democratic senator Elissa Slotkin asked whether he would refuse unconstitutional orders, and whether he would decline to deploy the military against US civilians, Hegseth evaded a direct answer, saying “I reject the premise” of the questions.

In American Crusade, Hegseth writes that he believes the US faces a moment of “irreconcilable differences between the Left and the Right in America leading to perpetual conflict that cannot be resolved through the political process”

“This time in our history calls for an American Crusade,” he writes in the book’s introduction. “Yes, a holy war for the righteous cause of human freedom.”

The central premise of American Crusade is the idea that there exists something called “Americanism”, which he characterizes essentially as rightwing populism, and then there is everything else: feminism, globalism, Marxism, progressivism. In Hegseth’s narrative, “Americanism” must prevail, or “death” will.

“America is under the scourge of leftism. Our situation is bad, very bad. We are in the fight of our lives for the soul of our country,” writes Hegseth. “You must be thinking, ‘Pete, you laid this out in pretty simple terms. Us versus them. America versus the left. Good versus evil. You’re overplaying your hand. It’s not that bad.’ Read on, and think again.”

“Democracy, it’s everywhere, right?” said Hegseth in a May 2024 interview, railing against secular public education and teachers’ apparent obsession with the idea of democracy. “Democracy, democracy, defend the democracy. Do you know what our founders did not want us to be? A democracy.”

Pretty clear sign as to where the US is going.

Yep .... Hegseth is Trumps most dangerous and biggest DEI hire. And ...Sorry Mitch McConnel, too little, too late for you to be no longer expressing total fealty to Trump. I think he may also be a no on Gabbard. History will not be kind to you no matter which side you try to write it.

Trump halts money we give to organizations in developing countries that helps them fight diseases, especially HIV. A program initiated by George W Bush.

Also ...

So now we’re going to reconsider any aid we give overseas ... Unless these countries bend at the knee and accept Trumps international extortion demands. Only Israel and Egypt get waivers.

Incredibly dumb move to expect Mexico to allow a plane full of deportees from God knows where to land and deplane. This outcome is actually a perfectly deserving gesture to the Trump administration right now. Uh, no, you're not landing here.

Give Trump the Finger madam president.

Welp ... Trump rounded up 80 Guatemalans. They went into a cargo type plane on TeeVee. With say 4 million or so to deport, only 50,000 more flights and they are done.

Trump's insistence on having the military do these flights is going to be a problem diplomatically. Mexico doesn't turn away chartered airliners returning their citizens but is really unlikely to permit military aircraft to do it. And they are one of the easier nations to work with on this. I don't think like Cuba or Venezuela is gonna be down for an endless parade of C-17s landing on their territory.

When did Trump show support for this 2025 Project. I remember him stating exactly the opposite.

Any comment as to why the administration is following the Project 2025 playbook, despite the disavowal of Trump?

How does the Cuban diaspora in Florida feel about sending back Cubans?

It would be kind of funny if they were all on the "they have to do it the right way" camp after the vast majority of them used the same path of fleeing on small boats in the first place.

One aspect of Trump's growth with hispanic voters was they all heavily indulged in their own intra-hispanic cultural revenge fantasies that Trump would only send the ones they disliked back to their home nations. Truly the definition of playing one's self.

It's really funny since these Cubans who get here are such right wingers. Though also tells you Trump never has any intention of having free elections again since otherwise he wouldn't be pissing on Cubans who are an incredibly important voting bloc that is the big reason Florida is safely Republican.
