I use FF most of the time, with the occasional IE for apps at work. Tried safari, hated it, typical apple garbage. Don't like the spyware-ish things about Chrome, and I will not do without my plugins, so until Chrome starts supporting things like Ad-block, it's a no-go for me. Never tried Opera, I'm not paying for a browser when there are perfectly good ones available for free.

Pardon the obvious, but why don't they make Apple do some similar shit with Safari?

But, but, everyone has Internet Explorer because thye LOVE it. It's the best browser there is, right?

It has nothing to do with Microsoft having a monopoly. It doesn't.

Because they have a smaller market share. Apple is infinitely a worse monopoly and does worse tactics than Microsoft ever did.

Opera has been free since late 2005.

I don't use Safari myself, but do you know anything about Safari other than that it's made by Apple?

Edit: I see you have apparently used it. I've never had any problem with it, and it is faster than Firefox (and I still have to restart Firefox every once in a while due to it consuming absurd amounts of memory or CPU time, even with 3.5). The only reason I don't use Safari is because my favorite password manager works better in Firefox.

I used Chrome when it first came out and don't really see the appeal.

lol another person admitted the thing about firefox and people say were lying. Anyway there is a fix to that and there been one for a very long while.

its always been free for the most part, all giving them money did was remove the small banner ad that said "donate to opera and this goes away"

When screen res was only 1024x768 or even 800x600, that banner took up a lot of space!

I was an Opera LOYALIST up until this past May. I had used it for almost 7 years. But I made the switch to Firefox because of these problems:

- GMail renders better
- Facebook renders better
- Right click on google maps works
- Get sent to WAP version of some sites (kfc, tbell)
- Thru jus a couple of extensions, my favorite Opera features now in FF (paste and go, letter searches, middle clicking tab/tab bar, undo tab close)
- Some flash videos ran choppy and would not go to fullscreen
- Sometimes, when clicking through pictures in facebook albums, I get sent back to pic 1/60 when i was only at perhaps 37/60.

I recently switched to Chrome from FF - I like the larger viewing area on Chrome.

Gotta have opera change the user id to firefox to fix most of those.

I'm using SeaMonkey, FF has been causing me trouble with some sites with the fonts being resized on me without any input from me.

and if I have any issues, i can always fire up IE if i need to.

when ms has the market share that it does and people are lazy, they're gonna use what's pre-installed and not download something else, even if it's better. There are people still using ie6 out there simply because it came with windows.

Its not like you have to buy IE if you buy Windows. They're giving you something for free.

This is like Ford giving you a free cup holder with your Ford car and being forced to offer you free cup holders from other companies.

that's the point, you don't have to buy, download or install anything else. people will do what is easiest whether it's good or bad. with 90+% PCs running windows, MS does have a monoply, whether you want to admit it or not.
