Ugh, timing couldn't be better. I was on the phone at work today for an hour talking to 4 different English-butchering Indian tech-supports. None of whom understood what I needed.
"I'm at a computer repair shop working on a client's laptop - I need to order a replacement part, the keyboard is defective."
"Uhh.. how do you know that the keyboard is defective?"
"... 5 of the keys on the right side do not work."
*long pause*
"And when did you purchase this laptop?"
"I didn't, I am at a tech center repairing a customers machine, I need to order a replacement for part # 12934-41"
"What is the serial number of the laptop?"
"*sigh* 94829DV34AR"
"This laptop is out of warranty"
"........... I know that, I need to BUY a replacement part"
*long pause on their end*
"......... Could you direct me to Sales and Repair please?"
"Let me find the number for you"
*waits 2 minutes for them to "find the number*
*dials the number*
"*automated voice* The service you have dialed has been discontinued"
Of course the day before I dialed the same support number and got a very nice English speaking woman who knew exactly what I needed and even offered to run the order for me without forwarding me to 23942 different wrong departments, but I had to talk to the customer first about the price.
Friggin' outsourcing!
