If the end of the world does not happen my 6pm, May 21st, are the people from the church going to have a Jim Jones style cool-aid party?

People that try to predict end of the world events make me sad. Why dont they get a real life, instead of living with so much doom and gloom.
The scarier part is that a lot of them don't seem to be in a "doom and gloom" mentality. They often look to be quite upbeat about it.

what the hell happens to that site when nothing happens in 12 days? o_O

The jaded ones walk away, miserable, and maybe lead a normal life after. Others branch of to new cults with new dates. Or, like in the case of j-dubs, they claim something did happen but nobody else can see it.

Well they've still got October 21st to wait for, when the entire Universe will end. After that, maybe May 21st of next year, because maybe they were off by a year.
Then of course December 2012.

Some idiot down the road from me has a sign in his front yard about this. It looks like one of those political signs you would see on someones yard.

Boy is he gonna feel like an idiot on May 22nd. It's one thing to feel like dumbass to yourself, but to advertise it to the entire neighborhood...

I wonder if he'll just take the sign down and pretend like nothing happened :D. If I lived next to him I would put a sign in my yard with an arrow pointing to his house saying "My neighbor is a dumbass"

edit: Actually, if I were his neighbor I would make a wager with him. If he's right he gets to laugh as I burn in hell. If I'm right he has to mow my lawn every week for the next year.

Some Taiwanese 'prophet' had announced an earthquake of magnitude 14 that would hit Taiwan today. He even said at what time, which of course passed without earthquake.

The Italian who 'predicted' earthquakes was off by 2 days on one of his predictions, and that's basically why they said he was correct in the first place. That he announced hundreds more which never happened was apparently unimportant. Although I must admit I wouldn't mind if a major earthquake took out Rome and the Vatican.

I saw some ads in the subway yesterday about this... incredible. Don't they know the end of the world is next year.

Are there any good websites/message boards with people taking this shit seriously? I'm entertained by hysteria.

"Family Radio's donation server is currently undergoing security maintenance."

Why are you worried about security or donations when you believe the world is going to end in 8 days?

They need the money to pay their web guy when he redesigns the website about, ohhh, 8 days from now, to point to a different date in the future.

Indeed. It's basically a get rich quick scheme based on getting money from gullible idiots.
