Is anyone else getting weird video when watching the olympics?

Was the color fading in and out from too loud to normal? That's what I experienced.

omg, he is the best figure skater i have ever seen.

Meh. Technically he was great, but I don't get how the judges can give him over 80 in composition with his totally uninspired choreography and give other people 60. Isn't composition supposed to be unrelated to technical? Yet it seems like any flubs immediately reduce composition too, and any strong technical performances immedialy increase composition. That is just lame. The swede should have gotten a 90 if the russian got an 80.

I hate watching the Olympics on NBC... The whole network broadcast seems to have degraded to a "Bob Costas Presents FIGURE SKATING and other stuff" type of show.

Yep the yanks for the most gold but are 5th in total medals, this is making for a pretty competitive year. Nice stuff! Btw how in the hell did the usa womens team not win? I watched it and i still cant beleive it. Oh wells that means another Gold for Canada i guess, unless lightning hits twice.

I think I lost interest in the winter Olympics a couple of olympiads ago when all that was on was figure skating WARMUPS and there was an actual hockey game being played in a little picture in picture window at the top of the screen.

When NBC learns how to cover an olympics I'll probably start paying attention again.

A few nights ago American Idol killed the NBC Winter Olympics in the ratings, 27 to 18. I think NBC is doing a horrible job, as usual. Has anybody seen an Olympics in recent times that was decently presented on TV? They seem to always suck. Pretty much the only viewing that's watchable is when they give the microphone to the real appreciators of the sport, generally afficionados who were competition level athletes not long ago and who are probably poorly paid. Their enthusiasm for the sports is obvious and their commentary insightful. People like Bob Costas, and in other Olympics Dick Enberg and similar big network sports cronies are anathema to me. The commercials I can dodge by timeshifting. The job that Costas just did on Jacobelli just disgusted me.

Does anybody else hate Bob Costas? His diction and grammar are always letter perfect, but he fails to communicate the enthusiasm and spontaneity that sports can and should represent. To me, he's the enemy.

Bob Costas sucks. I just hope the Olympics ratings continue to decline until somebody at NBC asks the question: Is it possible our coverage isn't all it could be? Maybe we should give some serious thought to shaking up our concept of Olympics coverage.

If you are watching this stuff and not timeshifting, how are you keeping your sanity?

It's a sad thing. I saw it and just thought after she was comfortably in the lead, "OK, now just don't fall." The thing is, so what? In perspective, what is a moment of glory? It can be something that hangs you up if it prevents you from living past it. Maybe she wasn't emotionally equiped to handle the baggage of living the rest of her life as the first ever Olympic gold medalist in that event. Maybe she unconsciously felt just that. To me, that's the bigger view and the preferred one.
