It has nothing to do with Greenland and has everything to do with the narcissist's ego and an overcompensating need to attack everyone. Especially US Democratic Allies.

We'd be an international pariah if we invaded Greenland. Maybe intentionally for Putin's bitch Trump, that would be the end of NATO.

OTOH when we handed over the canal, I believe in the agreement the U.S. reserved the right to intervene militarily if it was ever deemed necessary for security reasons.

Aren't there rare metals and minerals there that EV companies need for their batteries?

Well, the first executive orders are now out.

Unsurprisingly, Trump has "claimed" that he can do whatever he wants.

How much can he do? It depends on who falls in line. That’s really the only thing that remains to be seen.

I still have some optimism that the various court battles to compel action will be too numerous for him to achieve everything he wants. However, in areas where he’s ordered certain actions to stop, or removed certain regulations, the consequences will likely outrun the courts for quite a while. These particular Republicans are motivated by opportunity and not so much fear, It’s passive aggression by the Republican wussies. All it requires is that they do nothing. Let Trump run rough shod over our traditional institutions. Let him do anything he wants, so history records the destruction as a Trump thing. The reconstruction will be a Republican thing.

Trump is testing the waters. Being Trump he will escalate until he finds a limit. Trump can only do what he wants if he has enough help doing so. We’re about to find out what that looks like.

MAGAs on YT were pissed at the prime minister of Denmark cussing at trump. A few claimed it shouldn't have happened and he lacked civility. Imagine people who love Trump saying something about another person's civility. Best shit I've heard in awhile lol.

I don't actually laugh much, but when I read that and saw like 79 thumbs up I legit laughed. But I'm sure they're all fine with Trump going apeshit towards him on a phone call. I wonder why Trump's so obsessed with Greenland. I know he talked about wanting to buy it or something his 1st term

Greenland is part of NATO, based on Denmark being a NATO country.
Not going to happen.

You joke, but assume for a second that Putin had command over a military and intelligence force like the USA. Ukraine would have been a 2 hour special military operation.

I just read Trump said unless California agrees to implement Voter ID he won't be sending any money to assist with the wildfires. Between this, and the Greenland thing, just a few days in and he's already well on track with the shitstorm expectations I had for him.

Does he actually have the power to cockblock needed aid if he doesn't get his way? Winning wasn't enough, he gonna take out his anger on any state he lost. What a spectacular human being!
 
I suppose he represents a return to Great Power politics and traditional imperialism. Russia gets to take Ukraine, and whatever bits of Europe it wants to grab, the US dominates the Americas and expands its territory in its own sphere (Trump's personal kingdom - probably to become hereditary). What's left of Europe struggles on however it can. China can dominate East/SE Asia, as long as it doesn't come into direct conflict with US/Trump interests. Africa is left entirely to its own devices.

Just not sure if this is merely Trump's idiosyncratic world view or if it represents some larger social change in the US population/politics?

The options are that Rs in congress won't include it in legislation, he could veto it, or he could have OMB illegally impound the money. That last one foreshadows a major fucking problem nobody is really talking about for this year.

The D response should be we will vote for ZERO disaster dollars in any state that Trump won in the EC if they do this.
