I wish our missions were up to 35k each haha, I'd be making even more of a killing than I am already. TH recently jumped up to about 25k but as a result people spiked the supply trying to cash in, I think it'll settle back to 'normal' for about 20k and UT recently jumped to 30-35k but about the same thing happened. Archaeology hovers around 12-18k each, Scavenging 10-17k generally, Bio 6-12k (the 300 skill missions actually sell better), and slicing 15-20k. Diplomacy missions finally have risen over 4320 to 6-8k because of Medical Supplies I think, but investigation is still pretty much worthless in terms of missions on my server.

How are you getting missions or are you gaming the market
?

I really need to work on my TH I guess. I'm uppper 200s and not really a profit item right now.

Some from slicing but mostly from the market. There's a lot of opportunity to find people putting up items without bothering to check their price point first, especially with epic missions. 300 skill missions default price is 3645 iirc and on my server almost all of the 'big six' professions mission at that level will sell for about 2-3x that.

340 missions default price is 4320 and are even more profitable, as they'll sell for anywhere between 3-8x that depending on the profession; I've even found some people who take 340 missions and drop the price from 4320 to 1-3k.

And basically any crafting material section has similar opportunities, I've had success with archeology and bioanalysis especially, but I would imagine any of them would be decent for at least the grade 4/5/6 mats.

Be sure to take advantage of the cross-faction market on Nar Shaddaa. I've noticed while there's few items available there, it's a great source to BUY missions cheap to resell at your faction market. Reason: People go to the market on Nar Shaddaa to dump stuff they've collected while questing, usually for cheap because there's very few items to compare prices with to there. Pick stuff up there, take it to your local market and resell it at 2x-5x what you paid for it easy.

I think the main reason most people are not using the market, in my opinion, is because it is so very tedious to find the items you are looking for. An auction house trip takes me like 30 minutes. That is 30 minutes away from questing and over times really slows down level progression.

Things I would like to see the AH have.

1) Search field (without having to filter first)
2) Better sorting options (Seriously, why no helmet? gaunlets, etc...)

There are other things, but those two would really help.

I dislike very much these things:

1) Being able to compare gear to what your companion has.
2) More than two windows open at a time.
3) Movable windows. Especially the stupid 'wardrobe/preview/dressing room"
4) Weapons not showing in wardrobe/preview/dressing room
5) No die to change the armor colors. Mismatched armour looks really stupid. All it needs is a good paint job. Take some tips from the automotive industry. Guess SW isn't that advanced. They should consult DuPont.
6) Compansions bugging out and not following.
7) AH is clunky and cumbersome.
8) Quest Window Reward can dissapear. Only way I know how to get it back is complete another quest. Very odd...
9) Fleet Pass 18 hours cool down? Dumb. Should be 1-2 hour cool down.

Those are my main gripes. However, overall I like the game. I won't quit over this stuff. If things don't improve or get fixed, then I will probably cancel. But we are too early in the games release to considering cancelling. I'll likely play util I get two charaters to 50 and if by that time nothing significant has changed, then I will probably cancel.

As far as other classes being overpowered... The point in the game is to have fun. Do you enjoy your class? If so, then quit bickering about what another class can do. Just enjoy the game...

Is it just me or if you filter your search to gear usable by you or one of your companions specifically, it doesn't work and you get no results?

Never seen this... I'll look for it next time. But nothing that was shouting out at me or obvious.

Yeah it's a small flashing thing in the very top right hand corner. I did not notice it right away either. It's quite handy though, better than having to run back and loot the corpse after you are done making inventory space, or doing whatever you need to do.

That works for me, but I would not be surprised if you ran into some bug. The whole AH is absolutely terrible. I loathe using it. I normally vendor items, even purple items, because they just end up back in my mailbox from the AH. No one really uses the AH much other than a few select people. This makes it difficult to sell even decent items unless you just keep putting said item on over and over until someoen gets it. BTW - my items are price typically with what is default. So there is no gouging going on, but they still typically don't sell. I suppose each server is different though. I really believe the AH has to be improved before it will ever thrive.

Edit ** You, after thinking about it, it is very hard to believe that the GTN (AH) was released the way it was. It is even less complicated than WoW, because from what I can tell, you don't have a bid option, just a buyout. So, the GTN network is even more simplistic than WoW and manages to be even crappier at searches. I don't really see how the long beta period it had didn't address that massive inexusable shortfall.

There's a preference you can change to allow your mouse-over tooltips to compare to your companion's gear, however it only works when the companion is actually 'summoned' currently.

And if you're just browsing the AH, you can prevent it from getting closed by a returning companion by not keeping your inventory window open.

It needs some work but if you make use of the text filter the AH is still pretty quick. I actually like the filter, it does exactly what it says. When I'm looking for "Primeval Artifact Fragments" I don't have to do anything but filter for "pri" and it's there. You kind of have to know what you're looking for to find it though, which I agree is a problem with equipment because you don't know if the item your level is a helm, a hat, a cap, a cover, etc :p

You are correct, that you can find what you need. But the issue is how many clicks and windows do you have to open and close to compare stuff? The interface is flat out not very intuitive. I have been playing MMOs for years (I believe I have played 10 of them now) and the GTC is pathetic. Can I find an item? Yep... Does it take me a while? Yes. Can I easily see if someone has my item for sale on the AH? No, not without clickong 5 drop downs hoping I got the right category and then filter with text, or go through page and pages of green crappy gear.

Again, It has been established that the GTC is deplorable. The forums are crawling with extremely well throught out complaints on the ridiculousness of it. The UI is terrible.

The game is fun though. Another thing I just remembered that drives me nuts. When I click on LFG and go to the "+" to add a friend the text field *SHOULD* (does not though) place the blinking cursor in that field. But if you start typing expecting that it did and by golly you just watched 20 windows fly open and close. How stupid is it to have a pop box with a typable field that does not put the curser in there for you? And yet... It gets me everytime I go to add a friend and it pisses me off the same everytime.

Actually now I think about it they are on the security key vendor. So you have to have set up a security key for your phone or the one they send you to access. Kinda silly to require that.

I would probably place the ah high on my bad things about the game list, but it just dooes suck so bad I refuse to use it so pretend not to notice.

One of my main gripes is that you can move from any spot on a planet to any other spot in minimal time, can move from planet to planet in the galaxy in seconds, but to move from planet to ship and back sucks total ass.

this is why i stopped questing

i only go from the ship (where I run space dallies) to the fleet (where I run PvP dallies)...

Weird. I have the app on my phone, but have never used it. Not really sure how it works, so don;t feel like bothering to set it up.

Definitely agree with this.

That's a simple checkbox in the Preferences.

Not from what I can see. The fleet is pretty much piles and piles of people standing around GTN terminals (and the daily terminals).

You can make money every day on GTN. You just have to know what sells. Don't bother listing anything green except companion gifts (which *always* sell -- and btw, unless someone else has done it first, don't be the guy listing *blue*/purple gifts at recommended price; they'll sell way above that if there aren't cheaper listings). List stuff that you know *you* needed... Don't overprice sub-49 purples because few people will bother on stuff they'll outlevel (exception may be tank gear, though I'm not sure). High-level orange gear sells better/faster on /3.

Then again, I only list TH/UT mission mats and crafted pieces so it's really easy now (at 50).

I highly, HIGHLY recommend setting it up. It's a minor annoyance needing your phone to login every time, but it is well worth it for the added protection. It's the only way to guarantee that you don't get any kind of keylogger that will allow takeover of your account. And on top of the protection, you can buy the fleet passes for 1000credits. They can really be a time saver in this game.

Just go to the swtor website and login to your account. There are detailed instructions on how to activate it.

"High-level orange gear sells better/faster on /3."
/3?

Trade chat which is Channel 3. You can usually start typeing in the channel just by typing "/3 Messsage blah blah"

god, I tried reading the reverse engineering FAQ on swtor and my head exploded
