Not really, those abilities are PVE only by design. They're pretty clearly intended to just aid characters in clearing trash while questing and such.

I don't think so. Don't give an ability that can't be used across the board. It's an extremely situational ability at that, there's no reason it can be considered over powered in PvP. Requires a status effect; ability that creates status effect is on a rather long cooldown (30 seconds to 1 minute minimum), and it itself is on a relatively long cooldown. How is it any different from something like a Trooper's High Impact Bolt which IS usable in PvP?

It doesn't work on bosses either. So it's not PvP vs. PvE, it's real enemies vs. trash. The power (and I think each class has one) is only for trash.

On a totally different note, for those with 6+gb RAM and no/slow SSD, a RAMdisk hack for TOR resources.

If I borrow the disc from a friend to install the game, where could I buy it online to get the code to let me play?

Actually it does work on bosses... the only catch is it does so infrequently. You have to have multiple stacked incapacitates on the mob before it's incapacitated "enough" to use.

Does level 50 and or raid gear abound with alacrity? I got a bunch of alacrity gear for 40 but now the upgrades I'm finding are big armor upgrades without alacrity. I'm not sure if I should care, 20 alacrity makes, say snipe, go from 1.41 to 1.38 seconds...

I've not once been able to use Tumult (level 28 consular skill) in PvP

While Sage/Sorcerer may have very limited use of Tumult, Shadow/Assasins would get increasingly OP if they changed too much with it.

I have a 50 Sorc and a 38 Assasin, used it a handful of times on the Sorc ever, on the Assasin it's every chance I get(my limit is always the ability CD, plenty of stuns to work with).

Does level 50 and or raid gear abound with alacrity?

I think all of the dps and healers have a chance to build for power/alacrity or crit/surge. The stats mainly are and from everything I have seen always should be together to make proper use of them. Steady fast and hard stream or big spike- heals or dps.

What path you choose is likely going to depend on what you are doing and your play style. I'm healing op content on my Sorc atm and one of our main spells is a channeled heal, any time any tick of that crits it gives me a buff that I can use in a variey of different ways but the big one for me is it allows me to 'life tap'(take away a % of your health for a % of mana/mp/force power) without any of the negatives(with a reasonable crit rate you can make it so your pretty much never go out of force points). I used my anecdotal choice just to give you an idea of why I went the way I did. If the possiblity of a nigh never ending mana pool wasn't possible due to the proc, I would be stacking as much power as possible and pairing it with alacrity and would simply be more reactive then proactive.

How you spec yourself and how your abilities work in with the mechanics of what you are doing should decide which route you want to go as far as alacrity/power or crit/surge.

Looks like scoundrels and operatives are getting a slight nerf.

Star Wars: The Old Republic - 1.1.1 Patch Notes

Note: The Public Test Server patch notes will be provided in English. The final release notes will be provided in English, French, and German when the content is moved to live servers.

Classes and Combat

General
Fixed a bug that could cause the Global Cooldown to appear as if it has been cancelled when it is actually still in effect, resulting in a feeling of unresponsiveness to input.
Corrected an issue that could cause an ability icon to appear usable but be unresponsive to clicks or keypresses for several seconds.
Players revived by other players, including by in-combat revival abilities, now revive with 25% of maximum health.

Jedi Knight

Guardian
Freezing Force: Now correctly lasts 9 seconds (up from 6 seconds).

Jedi Consular

Sage
Mental Alacrity: Now correctly costs no Force to activate.
Salvation: No longer heals targets twice on application. It now correctly heals all affected targets once when applied.

Smuggler

Scoundrel
Flechette Round: Now provides 30% armor penetration while active.
K.O.: This ability now knocks the target down for 1.5 seconds.
Shoot First: The damage output of this ability has been decreased by approximately 20% to control burst damage and because it was enabling significantly faster than intended kills in PvP.

Imperial Agent

Operative
Acid Blade: Now provides 30% armor penetration while active.
Jarring Strike: This ability now knocks the target down for 1.5 seconds.
Hidden Strike: The damage output of this ability has been decreased by approximately 20% to control burst damage and because it was enabling significantly faster than intended kills in PvP.

Bounty Hunter

Mercenary
Sweeping Blasters can now be made free with Thermal Sensor Override.

Powertech
Oil Slick now correctly costs no heat to activate.

Flashpoints and Operations

Flashpoints

Directive 7
Bulwark’s Area of Effect cone abilities now properly fire in the direction Bulwark is facing.
Some of Bulwark’s abilities were incorrectly susceptible to interruption. Bulwark is now immune to interrupts.

The False Emperor
Fixed a conversation that could cause the cinematic with Arkis Wode to function incorrectly.

The Foundry
Fixed an issue that could prevent the final fight in this Flashpoint from beginning after the cinematic.
The final boss can no longer become stuck in an invulnerable state; there was still a small window where this could occur.

The Red Reaper
Lord Kherus now grants less experience.
Some of Lord Kherus’s abilities have had their damage values adjusted to be more in line with the level of the Flashpoint.
Players now enter into melee range with Lord Kherus in order to stop him from throwing crates.

Operations

Eternity Vault
Players no longer randomly die in this Operation after being in Gharj’s lava.

Karagga’s Palace
Foreman Crusher’s enrage now includes a movement speed increase, allowing him to catch players who attempt to run.
Fixed an issue that prevented the Materials Disposal Unit’s main control station from becoming useable again after the Operation Group is defeated by the G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator on 16-man Hard Mode.
Fixed an issue that prevented the G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator from deploying the correct number of Proximity Pulse Mines and Security Stun Drones during combat.
Karagga no longer snaps up above portions of the walls during combat.

Bug Fixes

General
Fixed an issue that prevented some players in Operations Groups from receiving credit for the missions “[WEEKLY] Deadly Operations,” “[WEEKLY] Galactic Operations,” and “Journey to the Belsavis Depths.” The entire Operations Group now receives credit when the objective is completed.

Items

Bug Fixes
Comparative tooltips for researched items no longer have their stats reversed.

Missions and NPCs

Missions

Imperial
Number One with a Bullet: Corrected an issue that prevented Bounty Hunters from leaving The Founder.
The Eagle’s Nest: The Assassin’s Fortress mission is now correctly a prerequisite for this mission.
The Mandalorian Killer: Thendys Noori no longer continues to heal Kellian Jarro after she has surrendered.

Republic
Death Spiral: Fixed an issue that prevented Jedi Knights who completed the Commander Rayfel encounter from using the shuttle back to Belsavis Orbital Station.

PvP

Warzones
Fixed an issue that could prevent players from receiving mission rewards for completing Warzones.

Space Combat

General
Added two daily mission commendations to the high-level space dailies Operation Ascendant Pride (Imperial) and Operation New Eclipse (Republic).

UI

General
Attempting to loot an item in a group when the Master Looter is off-planet now generates an error message.

Bug Fixes
The leader of an Operations Group will no longer receive an incorrect message informing them that their companion has been dismissed.

Miscellaneous Bug Fixes
Special items related to different editions of the game have been re-sent if they were deleted by the mail system prior to being claimed.

If I get credit for all my WZ wins towards my dailies, it will be a great day.

Also glad to see operatives tuned down, and hopefully some of these ability delay/GCD changes will eventually add up to make the game feel more fluid.

Noooooooooooooo! :(

KT

It would likely only affect Gunnery Commandos and Arsenal Mercs.

I play a commando as well and I enjoy it, but I can definitely see where a slight nerf is needed. When you get to a certain level and get a particular ability where there's absolutely NO reason to use any other ability (Grav Round/Tracer Missile respectively) other than spam that one ability because it basically ignores most of the target's armor, has great secondary effects (stacking armor reduction on target/damage absorption buff on self) with no cooldown and a relatively short activation and fairly low power cost - AND does a shitload of damage... I'd say that ability needs to be looked at.

For example, last night I logged in long enough to try to do my pvp daily in the warzones on my shadow. Granted, we had a shitty uncoordinated team, but when you end the warzone with 1 kill and 4 deaths, 3 of them by the same player spamming a single attack every time... And not a single person on our team had > 10 kills, most were upside down on K2D, there's definitely a problem.

I stealthed up after about half the match knowing we weren't going to win and just watched this Merc go to town spamming Tracer Missile and nothing else. Solo kills in 4 or 5 hits, it was sad. Thing is, I know my Gunnery Commando can (and does) the same thing with Grav Round too.

Ahh ok, I thought maybe Mortar Volley was going to get looked at or something. As a Combat Medic, I guess I will never get that ability, but your description of how it works definitely sounds like it is not working as intended.

Think ill start a commando as my next char. Really wish though that you had an option to still use a rifle as I don't necessarily like the look of the canon.
