Yea, I just play the GTN and run rich Slicing/Bioanalysis missions while I warzone or run round Ilum mostly, I'm more interested in getting Battlemaster than I am in more credits, though if they eventually add bigger moneysinks like guild cruisers or whatever it is I've heard bout then it might be worth devoting more time to.

Yup, I understand. I wish I was good at PVP :p.

I can't wait till the guild bank is in place. All my credits will be going into that and the materials that I have horded on my alts.

For the guild cruiser, I would love to see a guild crafting missing where all the crafting skills need to gather items to build the ship. Then a guild only flashpoint/OP to get one or two key items to complete it.

there aren't any level restrictions on tradeskills, right? so basically I can level another char up to where they get a couple of companions to do crew skills and that's all you need?

Interestingly, I believe Canbacon's method (stealth node-harvesting) is about the same one used by actual gold farmers. (Those low levels you see on the Voss, Corellia, and Ilum who lists? That's gold farming.)

Don't get flagged as a bot, dude. :D

No level restrictions on how far you can take tradeskills.

The biggest limiting factor is with the number of companions you have and can send out, which is tied to level.

They are afk farming and being as low level as possible. For my method it actually takes time to level up and constant user input. I travel a circuit and each node pops up in the general area where a bot will not see. Gold farmers will not invest the time to level up a character to 50 to get the returns, it would cost too much. Gold farmers just steal accounts then go afk/bot farming.

thanks for the info. I'm L26 so I'll wait until I can get to Alderaan.

Just doing missions on Bellmora I run into loads of slicing boxes and crystals. I don't monetize them as I need them for synthweaving, but the slicing boxes are easy 300-500 and they seem to pop back up fast. It's like playing a mini-game there's so many.

Even on the very first planets you can harvest on, slicing nodes usually have at least the better part of 100 credits in them; they're a good way to get yourself going.

Bioanalysis is also an obscene money maker once you can get into Grade 3 materials, but even some Grade 2 stuff can sell well if you sell at the right time. What with so much interest in Biochem, it's easy to sell a lot of mats for 1k a piece or more, especially grade 4 and 5.

any opinions on crew skills just for making credits?

Slicing/Underworld Trading/Bio Analysis are the way to go. Slicing for pure credits and mission discoveries. Underworld Trading is always good as the metals and cloth go for a lot on the GTN. Bio is great for the GTN as well, since biochem is what most people are going for the stims.

On a side note, I really wish they tweak the crit and reverse engineering for higher level stuff. I easily went through 10 stacks of quadranium (level 5 UT metal) to get a purple crit reverse engineer. Then that purple reverse engineer was for a shield/defense med armour item :(. Thank goodness for hording the rank 5 UT mission discoveries I sliced.

might want to re-think slicing for mission discoveries, reading the forums seems like it got nerfed AGAIN. I haven't picked up a mission discovery in eons - i should've just held onto my 340 epics that I discovered during the first 2 weeks.

In other news, investigation 340 still won't sell for 4320.

10 stacks? As in 990 quadranium???? If so, WTF you buying this off the GTN!?

Yikes, that would cost over 900,000 credits on my server. At least at the prices I sell it for :)

Haha, I'm a pack rat. So I had plenty of lvl 300 UT mission discoveries. Also, when I farm my slicing/scavenging nodes I either do UT for matts or do lock boxes. It is also nice to have SCORPIO maxed out, as she has a +2 (or +5) crit for slicing. I make sure that all the rich 5 lockboxes go to her or the abundant rank 6. I usually net 4-5 mission discoveries, but that is with 5 crew members running for 2-3 hours straight including getting missions from actual nodes. So, if you do this every day, it is still a lot. Most of the complaining is from people wanting a quick buck. As with anything, slow and steady and investing a bit of time will get you on top.

My recommendation for a low level player is to stop and farm for a bit when you hit a milestone. So level 25 is good as it is the first big money sink for the speeder. Then 35-40 is a next good one as most of the nodes will have good yields. Level 50 skills are actually quite reasonably priced versus 40-49 skills. The rank 2 and 3 speeder skill will kill you though. Also, if it is your first character to 50 I would just get gathering skills. Don't bother with actual crafting as it is a major money sink. Once you get a level 50 character you can get 5 crew members to just run everything while you are doing other stuff and you can go back to lower worlds and not worry about any mobs around nodes.

You actually run the abundant rank 6's? what loot do you get from that? I've been running rich rank 5's only...

Usually just a regular green rank 6 box that usually gives ~2k credits, but when it does crit it crits very well. With a nice purple 340 mission discovery. I just run it because I want to max out my crew members on slicing while doing my farming run. If you are low on credits or want the most efficient way of slicing, it is best to stick with rank 5 and down.

If you want to go for the companion gift route. Artiface or Treasure hunting allows you to get shards to trade in for specific companion gifts. Just stick to rank 2 or 3 missions as they give the best amount of shards for the time/money. Though this information is from a guild member and not first hand.

For me, UT rank 6 gift missions are quite nice for gifts as I just got 2 purple rank 5 gifts while farming for matts. Though, it could just be that I am running more gift missions to get the metals and fabrics back in the mission rotation.

That's exactly what I do. I run rich level 6 UT missions only...I stopped running fabric cuz nobody buys that shit.

At least with companion gifts I can make ~ 3000 credits/hour/companion

Missions rewarded from slicing haven't been nerfed, it's just people overreacting to having a cold spell. Since the only slicing missions I give priority to over grade 3-5 rich/bountiful bioanalysis missions are the rich grade 5 ones I don't run all that many of them, but even then last night I got 3x 340 Slicing missions. It comes and it goes.

So how do you make plans for upgrades when you can't search by armor class/alacrity/cunning or any other stat in the GTN and there isn't an item database website that allows this either that I know of?

More stories from the trenches...

Here's a short one from last night, but I think it's funny enough. Playing a round of Voidstar with my now 34 shadow, we're playing second team offense after the imps made it to the data core with mere seconds left.

We blow through the first doors and the imps try to put up a fight in the bridge room even though we're already behind them - both bridges extended with several imps still on their way coming from the first bay. I'm late to the party after having cleaned up a couple imps in the hallway, and I see several imps on the bridge closing in on a teammate of mine already across the bridge on the other side. One sniper and one sorcerer bearing down with their goofy ranged attacks parked about a third of the way back on the bridge. I know what I have to do.

I'm already crossing the repub spawn zone where the expertise powerup is in order to get to the offending bridge, so I stealth up real quick, hit force speed to close the gap and turn the corner onto the bridge. Much to my giddy delight, these two idiot imps haven't moved an inch as my teammate is tanking not only their bullshit, but also a melee on top of him.

So I'm booking my ass off thinking to myself, "I never get this timing right even when I'm standing still, time for more epic fail." So my mind makes a split second decision: I'm about 1.5 seconds away from the drop zone... brain sends a message down to right hand, "Fire at will!!!" So right hand reaches for the "9" hotkey on my keyboard... bombs away!

Now for some fun football analogies...

The snap: My shadow de-stealths and does his little jump up in the air.
The hold: Force Wave goes off.
The kick: Force Wave goes connects.
The kick is up: Timing was perfect...
It splits the uprights!!! The kick is good!!!

My placement, finally, for the first time in forever was perfect. I come down smack between the sorcerer and sniper when force wave goes off, sending the agent flying off the bridge to the left and the sorcerer flying off to the right.

Without skipping a beat I keep running straight through to my teammate who is now starting to get a bit low on health and engage the melee on him. A couple hits later, my teammate and I turn to head through the doors which have just been taken down with a crumpled heap of melee imp laying on the floor behind us. For the record, my teammate made it out with about 5% of his health left.

We blitz through the rest of Voidstar and win the match in about 3 minutes total.
