then there is also the fact that its often their job and not their interest in why the do what they do
then there is the fact that many critics might be overly harsh on this one because it didn't live up to their own expectations based on the first two but that doesn't mean it was a bad movie relative to other movies. Heck, many of the "negative" reviews admit the movie is good, just not as good - you can say that is a negative review but a site like rottentommatoes doesn't exactly take that into account with the overall score - you have to read each and every individual review to get a true feel for things.
To put things into some better perspective, glancing through that article on the worst to best rated comixtomovies, Spiderman 3 is better than 300...heck, there are many on that list that are all out of place on my personal list, such as Hellboy outranking Sin City...but nooooo, these are your infallible 'collective critics'.
