Hi and thanks Dapunisher for responding to my question about the SL-75MRN setup. As to the memory situation, unfortunately, I only have one stick of 512 MB DDR 2700samsung memory right now. I also have a stick of 256 MB DDR 2700 corsair memory, but have left that out for now as I am waiting to get another stick of the 512 MB memory to run dual channel. As to the settings, I forgot to mention that the cpu voltage is 1.6 which probably needs to go up, but I am worried about overheating here in S. California. I have a lower end Enermax case right now with two case fans and an Enermax PSU of 350 watts, single fan in the PSU. I did hook up the P4 power cable to the motherboard.

Seeing your results I am definitely going to experiment some more. The new setup is so much quicker and more powerful than my old Duron 800 on a FIC KT133 motherboard. I will let you know. Thanks again. Tom

Yeah, dual channel is the way to unleash the potential of the IGP so that should be priority one even if it means getting another 256mb of Corsair to do it. If you are worried about temps adjust the multiplier down and up the FSB so the CPU stays around default clock speed. That way you can get more from the IGP without the Vcore and clockspeed increasing the heat much more. Keep us posted how things go

Well damn can't run My SL-75FRN2-L at 400 with this GeIL pc3200 dual channel memory kit. From what i have been seeing it looks like this ram is more like pc2700 rather than 3200. Get file corruption after 3 loops of the 3dmark2k1 demo when running 200/400mhz synchronous. Ordered some corsair xms to replace it. trying to get OCsystems to take it back and give me a refund but I'm not holding out to much hope on that one since i have had it about a month and their return policy is 14 days.

hey nesud i have geil pc3200 and it runs all the way up to 211 fsb on the sl-75frn-l you most likely didn't set it up right you have to give it well in my case 2.6 volts to run at 200 fsb and you must set it to 6-3-3-2 as the spd is incorrect

I have been fighting this for 4 days now and believe me I did set it up correctly. I tried it at 2.6,2.7,2.8 volts and timings of 6-3-3-2, all the way up to 8-4-4-3 and all possible combinations in between that i could think of. It will run 200mhz synchronous but like i stated in certain things such as 3dmark2k1 demo it corrupts the files held in ram causing the app to crash after about 3 loops. I tested the board with a stick of generic samsung pc3200 and it ran fine with that. also ran fine with a stick of kingston pc2700 at 400mhz. read the GeIL ram update here. There are apparently quite a few GeIL dual channel kits out there that won't run their rated speed. Now asynchronous such as cpu 333 and ram at 400 it seems to run fine but not when both cpu and ram are run at 400.

Is anyone concerned about the fact that Soltekusa no longer exists? Who's to provide rma service and tech support?
Also, I noticed that the cpu socket has a power "coil" (sorry, don't know the right term) next to it. The way this board looks, installing or removing the heatsink seems very risky. I'm very close to getting this board, but these 2 points are holding me back.

I will handle any warranty issues with the vendor(newegg). I am sure they will take care of it. I think that is called a toroid or something like that. I read in the Hardocp review how Kyle didn't like that being located there at all but I didn't find it to be a problem at all when installing my heatsink. It looks close but in fact there is plenty of room to work. If you slip bad enough to hit it then i expect your screwdriver will have already ripped into the board itself. I am using an SK7 heat sink on it with no problem but then that heatsink goes wide over the socket on the sides away from the clip lugs. Not Sure how for example an AX7 would be though looks like it shouldn't be to much trouble but I haven't tried one on my board. Definately can't install the heatsink if the board is already in the case though. I could squeak through taking it off and putting it on with my K7N2-L but with that there i have to pull the board now to do it.

you got a garbage type of memory.. it's not a surprise you are having problems
i got some GAYL DDR333 and that crap would run stable at NO speed, at NO certain cas latency, and at NO voltage.. it sucks!!!!

I'm not sure what your looking at but there's plenty of room around the socket and some are even using bulky water cooling with no issues as well. Soltek USA has ceased operations Soltek TW is goin' strong! Buy your board from Newegg or here and you won't have trouble with RMA as both buy direct and it's rumored Newegg is responsible for Soltek USA failing for that very reason as they evidently get a better price than the USA distributor was able to. Tech support is from TW and I just e-mailed them a couple times last night on someone else's behalf and they responded to both he and I in less than a 1/2hr each time! that's unreal considering companies like Asus may not respond at all....ever!

thanks for your responses guys. Before I pull the trigger, though, I just want to confirm that the new 75FRN2 L will handle the new 400fsb processors. The soltek website doesn't seem to make a reference to the 400fsb capabilities. Also, will running palomino core 2000XP be a problem??

The Golden Flames have had a problem running Palominos Link but I don't know if the current boards shipping have this issue fixed or not so e-mail tech support and you'll get an answer pretty fast. They are on the other side of the world so it may not be business hours yet but I'm sure you'd get an answer tonight. BTW, the FRN2 series ships as Ultra400 and any A1/C1 chipset based NF2 board should do 200fsb EZ anyhow

The newest bios adds a 200mhz selection when set to optimal along with 100,133,166. expert mode is not required to set it to 200/400mhz operation for the cpu now. Also the newest nvidia memory controller driver actually ids the controller as an ultra 400 controller in device manager. Here is a link to the Soltek product page that clearly specifies 400mhz fsb speed support. They just added the 400mhz spec that is in red withing the last few days.

I got my soltek frn2-rl about 3 weeks ago, it should have a A1/C1 chip or a ultra 400 chip. Is there any difference i should note between the two?

i plugged in a pair of speakers to the line-in and enabled "rear speakers connected to line in" on the mixer. yet, i do not hear anything from the rear speakers.

am i missing something here?

Hey saddy I believe you have to buy the S/PDIF bracket to get the 5.1 sound output. As far as temps go, as you were getting at the rule of thumb is the cooler the better. Your temp of 48c is alright but moving to a better cooler would be a good idea since you overclock.

Hello. I just bought a new FRN2-L and I'm itching to build my new computer. I currentley have an AMD 1800 TB. My plan is to one day, when I feel the 1800+ lagging a bit, to buy an AMD 3200+ 400 FSB. So instead of buying ddr333 to work with the 1800, I decided I might as well buy 1 x 512 mb pc3200 ram now to work alongside the 3200+ when I eventually do get it.

I will not be doing any OCing. All I want is stability with the 1800 and the 3200 when I upgrade Don't really care about it's ns or cl ratings since I've read... doesn't make any reeeaaall difference....

Would Infineon RAM do this job just fine? How about Samsung?
Those are the two brands I can purchase around here for a decent price.

Or would I need to invest in more expensive RAM like OCZ or Kingmax or whatever to do this job?
