I might be looking for some PC3200 or PC3500 ram :D. What would you guys recommend that has no issues running in dual channel on the this board? I am going to run the 2x512mb configuration. Thanks

kauffmbe, great post, lot's of good info in there :) BTW, my ABSII temp is 61c at the moment due to Florida heat, overclocking, ambient room temp, and a F@H Gromacs WU ( the 3rd consecutive one ) but it's super stable so I'd say don't sweat the temp being low 60's under heavy load if it's stable.

kehi, I'm hearing great things about the OCZ Dual Channel Optimized DDR PC-3200 High Performance and of course Corsair is always a good pick.

Well I have tried the GeIL dual channel pc3200 kit on this board and it flat doesn't work stable higher than 185 or so. Just yesterday 2 512 meg dimms of corsair XMS pc3200 arrived and they are working very well. Running 210mhz at 6-3-3-2 timings 2.7 volt. They will run higher although i haven't as yet determined to the ceiling on them yet. These are not the dual channel kit either they are simply 2 individually packaged modules.

Which temp should I focus on more? ASB II or external? Back when I still had my comp, the external was around 35C idle @ 2.2ghz and the ASB II was more like 45C. I couldn't see my ASBII under full load so I don't know if it went really hot or not.

It went to 213 so clean and easy that i was frankly a little surprised at how well it did.

No surprise Corsair is better than GayL.. :D

Dropped a Barton 2500+ in my SL-75MRN-L and worked it up to 200 synch on less than default Voltage and it's solid so far, been crunching on a new F@H Gromacs WU that has an extra 3DNow! boost and numerous 3Dmark runs with it in the backround as well since I have it set as a service.

200 synch benchies using integrated G4MX

CPU-Z BTW it's a AQXDA 0313WPJW

I bumped the IGP core to 260mhz and broke through the 6000 barrier thanx to the Barton's extra cache

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6558455

Nothing left to do now but see where this baby tops out at stable on air in my 80f computer room over the next several days :)

EDIT: here's a shot of the Gromacs log since the last reboot done for benching purposes This'll stress your CPU!

Well i just tested my slk-800 heatsink and i improved my pifast 3.3 record => pifastrecord...it's funny that the best result came with 5-2-2-2 not 4-2-2-2....

My cousin is having a new computer and he want's me to help him in picking up good components....guess which motherboard i recommended....:D....

I also tried 190x11 at default and the computer rebooted before loading windows. I even tried 1.70V and it contiuned to reboot. I tested DDR voltage all the way up to 2.7V and it seemed to make no difference (still rebooted before loading windws). I have the timings for the ram relaxed at 3/4/4/8.

BTW: Just for fun I tried 200, 202, and 205 at 1.7V and got nothing but black screen. No post at all. :(

Anyways, I will test stability here at 180x11 @default voltage. I really wish I could get 200fsb or more but not sure if the cpu or ram is just out of gas at 180fsb :D

Well it's funny that i tested my computer's performance with 15 x 133, 12 x166, 10,5 x 190 and 10 x 200 with memoryadjustments 8-3-3-2,5 and 6-2-2-2.....the computer didn't post at 10,5 x 190 with 8-3-3-2,5 att all!!!. Strange...

Of course go back to 180 synch when your through cause your better off that way for most things.

I raise my fsb this way. I use normally 13 x 166.... when i try to do new record ín 3dmark2001 i first put 205fsb...well it won't post and theni put the power off and start the computer with insert pressed down....then i go to bios and put fsb to 200 and then it will post normally....then i start raising fsb slowly....well i have not tested 3dmark with over 210 fsb.....

alot of people on this thread have been having problems with geil memory and this motherboard. I have the pc3200 kit installed in my board and i dont have a problem running it at 200 fsb. My cousin just purchased the geil golden dragon pc 3500 memory and we installed it in my system untill he gets his board (sl75-frn2 i have the sl75-frn-l). When i installed the memory and tried to run at 200 fsb all seamed right until i tried a 3dmark 2003 the computer would completely restart every time. I tried my memory to see what was going on and i started having the same problem with my memory. it just would not run at 2-6-3-3 like it had been. I went to www.geil.com.tw and they are stating that geil memory has issue's with the nvidia chipset and for it to run correctly it has to be @ 2.5-8-4-4 so that explains the problem with the golden dragon pc3500. In order to get my pc3200 back and running @ 2-6-3-3 i had to play with it switching the memory modules around and playing with the voltages until it was stable. I am running at 10X200 2-6-3-3 with 1.5 volts to the cpu, 2.6 volts to the memory and 1.6 vdd. I can now run prime95, windows media player playing a video, sisoft sandra burn in wizard, nortons antivirus scan and 3dmark 2003 at the same time with no errors i only let everything loop for 4 hours cause i got tired of waiting for it. Basically Nvidia needs to correct whatever the problem is hopefully they will with either the drivers, or with bios files. By the way i know that cp-geek made the modified bios for the sl75-frn-l is there a way to get in contact with him in order to get the higher fsb settings that the sl75-frn2 bios does. With the vdd adjust i would think you could run faster than 211 because my system runns 211 fine without raising the voltage. Even with gayle oops geil memory LOL

Oh by the way I wont be buying the Geil golden dragon memory modules, well not till the pc4000 version comes out which hopefully is soon. They are the nicest modules i have ever seen the pictures dont do them justice. The memory is i believe bga memory like on newer video cards and they do not get hot at all. Even with my last post and the sh*tty memory timings i was still able to get 3048 on sisoft sandra when compared to my 2-6-3-3 settings where im getting 3078 its only about 30megs differece im sure its maybe less than 1% in gaming benchmarks

The SL-75FRN-L mobo rocks. I've been running mine for about two months now and have been sneaking the FSB up slowly.

I'm currently running at 11x190 perfectly stable. Sandra memory scores at this point are 2846 Int. and 2709 Float. The system is using an Athlon XP 2100+ along with 2x256 MB OCZ PC3200 Rev.2 RAM. Cooling is provided by a Thermalright SLK-800 with Vantec Tornado (37 deg. at full load). Other components are an Abit Siluro GeForce 4 Ti4200 8X AGP (128 MB), Samsung SW-248B CD-RW and a Maxtor 120 GB HDD.

I'll probably end up getting a Springdale later this summer to fool around with, but for now this system is all I could ask for, especially considering the price of the mobo and CPU. Soltek rules!!!

I purchased 2x256 of the Muskin Promo Build. Has anyone tried this memory in a Soltek SL-75FRN2-L motherboard? I am thinking of buying a Soltek SL-75FRN2-RL, normally you would buy the mobo first, but the Mushkin deal seemed like a good deal, and the way it is turning out I can get an excellent mobo for less then the memory. Thought I would check first though to see if anyone has tried this combo.

I'm sure it will work fine in the mobo.. as long as you dont buy CRAP memory like Geil, you won't have a problem.

DAPUNISHER, do you know if I need to install that SP1 "hotfix" patch to lower harddrive cpu utilization? I don't know if my harddrive cpu utilization is high or not, the drivers i'm using are the nforce 2.03.

I had the Mushkin Black label 3200DDR and it ran fine in the Golden Flame and I doubt the promo would be much different.
