Yeah it'll do EAX, I was just playing Ghost Recon with EAX enabled, in fact it's enabled by default. Try installing the latest Realtek 3.43's linked right above, they come with a 10 band graphic equalizer and a bunch of sound effects and hopefully will straighten out your problem as well.

You can try these tweaked drivers Tweaked XP drivers for W2K peeps claim they work pretty darned good. In the end I don't think the lack of a frsh install is to blame but it may come down to that.

Either those fixed it... or an install of a newer version of Nero... I had removed my old version 5.5.7.2 and when I installed the NVidia controller drivers, I realised I hadn't installed Nero again.... so I grabbed a newer version to try and it's working... so unfortunately I don't know what solved the problem, but I don't care right now :p
point is it's working perfect! :D

thanks for yer help dude!!

That's near the score I get with my 9700pro/Soltek, so it sounds like you are on track!

I prefer the Realtek drivers because of the features anyhow, even though the Soltek version of the unifieds gave me EAX. Glad everyone's boards are runnin' great now

Hi, This thread has been most informative about setting up my new Soltek SL-75MRN-L motherboard. I have been able to OC the board to FSB of 144 but get a blue screen at 166. I have 512 MB of Samsung 2700 RAM, with a 2100xp TBred Rev b CPU, coolermaster HAC-V81 HSF attached with AS and have a core temp at about 37C at idle with the ambient temp of 21C and want to cool the southbridge before going any further. I have a question about cooling the southbridge, what type of HSF is recommended? Also do you have any idea of the limits of overclocking the MRN version without wasting the gear? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Anandtech Forums :) I've built several 75MRN's now and looking at your setup I have a few questions. Is that 2 sticks of 256mb in dual channel or 1 512mb stick? Do you have the ram set to 100% to reflect the FSB so it's in synch mode? The BSODs sound like faulty ram but you can further relax the timings and increase the memory voltage to see if it stabilizes and the BSODs stop. As to SB cooling I just put the large passive, low profile heatsink from a Vantec iceberg kit on it using the povided 3M thermal tape and it's very well cooled. You can use any passive heatsink with decent thermal interface and it'll be fine I think. I've run the full 211fsb with the vdd chipset voltage at 1.8v stable but I have it at 200fsb now because I used coolbits to overclock the GPU to 250mhz and 200fsb was the best combo with it. I scored 5899 3Dmark2001se that's the 5th highest score in the database and I have the 6th too :p BTW you are using a powersupply with the 4pin P4 style power hookup aren't you? If not you need to, it's important that it be a strong PSU also so check your voltages and list them if you would.

The USB controllers in the device mangler should look like
this if they don't do what crzyricn suggested but make sure the Soltek CD is in a drive and that you have internet access if windows wants to look online for them.
