You have PC4000 rated ram now, going to PC3200 is not going to gain you any overclock no.

Sorry for the noob question, but is there another OCZ memory of the 2gb (1gb x 2 ) variety that'll have a chance of going beyond 260 HTT? Is my mobo also limiting my OC?

I have seen the PC4000EB doing over 260FSB, but it's not guaranteed.

Thanks for the link. The EB sticks look really tempting, but I've resigned myself to using what I have for now. N7 gave me advice on using the Vcore overvoltage to get more stable voltages. The first time I tried HTT270 with 5:6 divider, Vcore 1.45 and Vdimm 2.8, I got a bad cmos error and "recovering from floppy" message. Since then, he's given me some more useful advice that I plan on following this weekend. HTT 260 hasn't been a problem for me. HTT 265 was achievable with N7's advice to go up to Vcore 1.45 or more, but the temps look a little toasty (51c cpu with memtest, open case) so I'd rather not go to Vcore 1.5. I'll get back to report my results.

Well, received my 2x1gb EB Platinum PC4000 the other day, and I'm getting some memtest errors. I ran 17 passes last night and received 40 errors, all from test 7. Prime95 ran stable yesterday for 6 hours though.

Settings:

240mhz FSB
2.85v
3-3-2-8

Let me know what other settings you need to see if we can differentiate between a setting mistake and faulty ram.

Man, last week you were begging for posts...

For some more clarification, I ran memtest at the same settings (except at 2.75v) for 1 hour with 2 errors on test 7, that's why I it's at 2.85v even though I was underclocking.

When I say "ran memtest" I'm just running it at default settings (all tests). Test 7 is the only one that shows errors. Just realized it sounds like I'm only running test 7.

If prime is running, that is far more strenuous than memtest, anything in Windows is a better judge of stability than memtest.

Is Windows crashing?

Try Infinite for the Idle limit, Refresh at 7.8 or 15.6, try both 4 and 8 for Burst Length.
 
Hi, I ran Memtest recently and got these two errors, please note that I have Cas latency (TCL) set to 2.5. And I have the legacy usb turned off. Here are the errors.(also on screen the zeros have dots in the middle of them)

TheTech can you please test the sticks one at a time and see if you have problems running both of them at Cas 2?

Yes I'm testing them one at a time now(at CAS 2.5, I'll see if they work at 2 also), memtest86 v1.65 wouldn't run test 8 before with both sticks in and set for CAS 2. I must note that I used the nvidia benchmarks in the ntune utility with one stick in and I notice no performance drop compared to having 2 sticks in dual channel config, is this normal?
 
Hello, I bought 2x1 GB OCZ Platinum RAM. It says 2-3-2-5 on them and it says Rev.2 if I remember correctly (I`m at the library). Anyway, the OCZ web site is a little confusing to me. Is it 2.8 volts that I should use or 2.6 or 2.75???

There is no Rev 2, I think you mean v2.x? in the lower right hand corner of the white sticker?

If that is the case, then yes you should be at 2.8V
 
I just bought the OCZ PC-3200 Dual Channel Gold kit and have had some real stability issues. It passed one pass on Memtest at 2-2-2-5 with every performance enhancement turned off, but when I increase the FSB at all I get errors. I was dead stable with my old KHX 3500 2x256, I was hoping for a similar o/c. I took the KHX out completely, and Windows feels jerky and I'm much slower in booting up. I have a P4P800-DLX, I run VDIMM at 2.85V and have a 3-GHz processor. I'm running the 200FSB now and it definitely seems to have diminished my performance (I was running 218FSB 2-2-3-5) as well as the mentioned issues. I haven't BSOD'd from it since I tried raising the FSB but it definitely destabilized my system. I've spent a few hours testing. I've tried different slots, reseated, etc. Is there something I'm missing?
 
Well, it can run 200FSB at 2-2-2-5, but if I turn on PAT it throws errors. If I o/c at all, even with very reduced timings, it throws errors. I'm pulling the chips, requesting an RMA. I'll pay the restock if I have to, hopefully NewEgg will let me swap for different chips.

EDIT: They made me pay restock. I guess everyone loses as I lost $16 and NewEgg lost a long-term customer; but I've learned a valuable lesson in my first OCZ purchase. I thought OCZ was THE memory for this board from what I'd read. I had such high hopes. I don't suppose I'll get a response before I take it to the UPS store for mailing. I'd really like the hours of my life spent on this issue back, plus the financial loss. Wish I'd never heard of OCZ at this point.

EDIT2: Taking these messed up boys to the UPS store for RMA now. I emailed RyderOCZ and he's even visited the boards since I posted and emailed him, guess he don't work Saturdays. What a bad experience all around on my first RMA.
 
I got 4 gb (2 x2 dual kits of ocz 3200) is this matter if I mix them? I mean shoudl I put in slot a an b same kit or it doesn't really matter? ANd what if I already mixed them. Is there anyway to check which two of those was kit pair?
 
I just finished testing, the second stick is defective the first stick has done around 50 passes of memtest in two diffrent slots, I swapped out the first stick and popped in the second one and at 44 minutes and on the second pass it caused memtest to stop at test #8(the plus after the word Memtest86 is still blinking but the test is stuck) the other stick did just fine at the exact same timings and settings. P.S I've been in contact with Marcus again, I'll let him know through email what happend.

Slammy1 we do work weekends, but not as many hours as during the week. If you would have given us the chance we could have mose likely gotten the memory working for you. This gold memory you has needs more than 2.8V to run 2-2-2-5 timings while overclocking. Most sets will do fine at 2.8V if you set 2-3-3- or 2.5-3-3 timings.

Sorry we couldn't help you out, but 7 hours on a saturday is a pretty short time to wait 🙁

The lable on the sticks will have a small rev 1.0 or rev 2.0 listed. If they are all 1.0 or 2.0 rev sticks it doesn't matter what slots you put them in. If you have one set of each you may have problems running the 2 sets together. Try increasing the vdimm to 2.8V and see if it helps

That's something, at least that's verification that it was a faulty module. Yes, I relaxed the timings a lot (as much and more than you suggested) and couldn't achieve stability even in memtest and I seemed to have more Windows related issues. I ran my voltage max for the board of 2.85V, I doubt given the way they arranged the board I could fit a RAM-booster. There's much that I don't understand. For example how rated 2.8V 2-2-2-5 memory requires more than 2.8V but comparatively I'm a novice. My job right now is a lot of OT and I needed to get it to a UPS pick up point to make it back to NewEgg ground (7-days from shpping). I spent a fair amount of my Friday off tryinng to get the modules to work. Even had a thread in General Hardware (which received 0-replies except for my bumping it) before I found this one.

One thing I did notice in further research was that the Platinum is preferred by this board. I saw a few references to systems running the gold and my MoBo, but all the good things I'd read were in reference to the Platinum. I think I'll try Mushkin when I upgrade to 1GB (probably soon after they release the new Windows Media Encoder). Like I said, a really bad overall experience, once bitten twice shy, etc. It's probably just coincidence that the first modules I bought from OCZ didn't work. Maybe I'll talk NewEgg out of the restock fee, but I think the $9-something to ship it back is gone. They're both minor expenses compared to the hours I spent trying to get those DIMMS to work. I have my 512MB KHX in now at 2-2-3-5 DDR436 stable at least to 9 passes of MemTest and gives no weird widow's issues. I now have a greater appreciation for how good that is.

What is (or was) the part number of your sticks?
We have 2 or 3 PC3200 Gold kits, was this a 1GB kit or 2GB?

We created this thread at AT for convenience, but the official OCZ forum is still the fasted way to get help. Steve and I are the only 2 that come here to AT, but there are 5 of us that monitor the official forum.
Weekends do slow things down a bit and our main office in California is also closed on weekends so even if we need to RMA, nothing can be done until Monday morning on a weekend, the office has to issue the RMA number.
You first post was at 10:15pm on Friday night local time for me, we work odd hours, but not 24/7, your second post was at 5:58am Saturday morning, I was asleep at that time.
We do get time to spend with our families and friends on the weekends as well, I hope you understand.
