atlanta over the flyers, ottawa over the devils....the hell?

No idea man. Boucher looked like sht tonight, especially on that 3rd goal he allowed. No way in hell Atlanta should be taking Philly to OT this late in the season.

The Devils are finally coming back to earth, they had been hot.

The Flyers look so bad out there. This team needs to get it together, or it's a first round exit. Boucher needs to sit, maybe come in every 3rd game to keep Bobrovsky fresh. He gives up the backbreaker at the worst time. You can see the defense playing tentatively in front of him, because you can let him see the shot, square up to it, and he still gets beat on a bad angle. He instills no confidence in the D-men in front of him.

Gotta roll the dice entirely on Bobrovsky once the playoffs start. I'd even say call up Leighton as the #2 - there aren't reentry waivers once the playoffs start, right?

It's the same old story with the Flyers - no credible goaltending going in to the playoffs...

I'm not surprised we lost to Ottawa. Sometimes teams just have your number, last year it was the Islanders, this year it's Ottawa. You could really see the frustration in the Devils players last night, it was painful to watch.

If we lose to Washington tonight, that all but finishes us. We'd have to win 10 or 11 in a row, and we'd be coming off a 2 game losing streak.

Rangers finally put the hurt on the Habs... they have had a rough time against Montreal this year.

Sorry dude, it's over. Neuvirth looked great in the posts tonight, and stopped Kovy 1 v 1 two times tonight... Ovechkin with 2 more pretty assists, the Caps looked great tonight especially on the PK.

Cooke is a POS dirtbag. He consistently demonstrates an intent to injure. After all of Lemieux's crying earlier, he should put his money where is mouth is and have this guy dumped from the team.

This. Didn't he pretty much stand up for the guy earlier though when he was bitching?

Probably. I'm happy that the team came out strong and won in Columbus, this season has always been about finishing with pride more than making the playoffs, at least in my mind. If they don't make the playoffs, I hope they come within a point. I don't believe in wanting your team to fail for a draft pick. The only team that's worked for is Pittsburgh, and that's only because they had the timing to pick Crosby and Malkin.

I hope they beat Boston and then Buffalo. If Buff loses a couple of games, and the Devils go on a winning streak, they could get back in it. I agree, though, that at this point it's extremely unlikely.

You forgot that it looks like the Penguins tanked on purpose. Lemieux whined and threatened to move that team away. The league could have even rigged the Crosby lottery.

Of course, I'm still bitter that in the Flyers ONE bad year this decade, they end up with James Van Riemsdyk at #2. By far the worst team in the league too. And the Hawks got Kane.

The league got that right. The remainder of the reg season would just give him some rest in time for the playoffs. 10 games plus 4-7 that really count was the right call.

I can't believe it, I finally agree with the league on the penalty. The Wheel of Justice must have spun just right.

I know a lot of people think that Pittsburgh tanked, I don't know if I do. They were really horrible pre-Crosby, and even had to sell Kovalev to New York to stay afloat. I think if the league was going to rig the Crosby draft, they would have sent him to New York or LA.

There's little question in my mind that they tanked to get Lemieux, and their behavior that year led directly to the implementation of the draft lottery system, which cost Philly Kane in 2008. See? Another reason to hate Pittsburgh.

It's too bad that JVR hasn't done more yet, but he's still young, and sometimes the bigger guys take a little more time. Having another goal scoring winger for team USA would be tremendous.

I also heard that Pittsburgh's front office told Matt Cooke that they were not going to tolerate any more dirty plays from him. It will be interesting to see what they do the next time he crosses the line (and I don't think he can even help himself, dirty hits are in his blood.)

I think part of the reason I believe they tanked for the Crosby draft is that the franchise had the history of doing so. I'm half joking when I say that the lottery that year was actually rigged, but only half.

I happen to think JVR will come around. He's not going to be an elite player, but I think he's going to be a solid scoring winger. He'd only be a senior in college this year, and he's a big guy. You are right, the bigger players often take time to grow into their game.

That fight he got into earlier this year, though, seemed to do more for his toughness than any practice ever did. I'm happy enough with his development, and thankfully, he doesn't need to be what Patrick Kane has to be to his team.

They'll keep tolerating it. Cooke actually isn't an awful player. For the guys like him in the league that do this sort of stupid shit, he probably also contributes the most as a skill player from that group.

Pittsburgh will stop tolerating it when someone runs Crosby, Malkin, Letang or Fleury as a direct result of a Matt Cooke hit. The fact that they kept putting up with his shit even after the Isles game speaks to that.

Technically, the Isles still owe Talbot, too. Cant imagine that one's not coming. One more meeting this year, at NYI.
