Rick Martin, one of the Sabres' all time greats and a member of the French Connection, died yesterday at 59.

something from tonight? watching canes/leafs, 1-1 end of 1st

canes look ok so far, better than i expected, and have a pp goal (which gives them the first in 27 opportunities)

Toronto looked good.
Reimer looked really good.

woot, Wings seem to be coming out of their funk. Stopped the Caps from going 10 straight

Yep, great game. They were in it until Knuble's boneheaded penalty, Ovechkins goal through Stuart's legs--->top shelf was vintage #8.

The Wings were too much for Washington w/out their two best centers. Hopefully one of them comes back soon but I have a feeling Boudreau will rest them as long as he can before the playoff run.

Philly should get a little breathing room tonight and beat Atlanta in a rematch of last week's sorry ass OT loss.

Gustaffson is called up to replace Pronger and will probably be paired with Carle to ease the transition. Also Lav is trying some new sht to get the Flyers going like a 3 Center line (briere/carter/giroux). Strange but it worked.

The new concussion protocol is now in effect and may force teams to bring a physician with them on the road (like Chicago). Definitely a step in the right direction.

Starting tonight, players suspected of having a concussion will be removed from the game and sent to a quiet place free from distraction so they can be examined by the on-site team physician. The physician will use the Sports Concussion Assessment Tool test to evaluate the player. Symptoms include loss of consciousness, motor incoordination or balance problems, a blank or vacant look, slow to get up after a hit to the head, disorientation, clutching of the head after a hit or visible facial injury in combination with another symptom.

What a joke. Last night Wideman got hit in the head by a slapshot, went down to the ice, got up slowly and skated back to the bench holding his head. Did he go back to the dressing room? No.
