LETS GO CAPS!!! Please don't choke this year...

^^^ what he said.

To be honest, it seems like the regular season is just getting in the way... I don't really want to sit through months of games, even if entertaining, just to sweat it out in the playoffs again. They better do something different this year... perhaps even at the trade deadline pull a trigger or two.

Hockey is like Baseball, wayyy too long of a regular season. Especially with the long playoffs and a preseason.

If the Capitals are anything like the Wings they only have less then $1m sitting around for something at the trade deadline. Not exactly what you would call a blockbuster deal. I think the wings are actually down to $700K. With the NHL of today you play the hand you're dealt.

the hand youre dealt? eh...no. they can trade players without no trade clauses, they can put a player on waivers to free up space (if someone will take him), or they choose to not spend to the cap and have options available at the deadline. the only hand they are dealt is a cap limit that everyone else gets, who they sign and what they pay is their choice

this year, the canes are choosing to...not spend money and have a shitty team with 1/3 of the players coming up from mostly AHL experience.

but hey...were gonna have cap space at the deadline 😛

/but theyre not gonna spend it because theyre broke as hell

I realize that, but if you're a team trying to win you've already spent your money and if you're at the cap floor and not trying to win, why would you pick up a heavy contract of a player put on waivers? The trade deadline has become big meh lately. All there is left are teams trading players that each of these teams feel are of equal value and are revenue neutral. Yes, one team can see improvement, but it's usually not monumental.

I watched that last night. They looked very good.

That Swedish due was freaking flying out there! 😱

KT

they were completing passes and actually looked decent on the PP... i am pretty excited after seeing that... trying not to be overly optimistic but they had a totally different look and feel!! go Oil 🙂

I don't know who I am rooting for this year... I loved the Hawks last year, but a little of their fire that I loved in them is gone simply due to player changes... I am sure they are still a powerhouse though

Went to the game last night (benn over a year since I actually attened a game of any sort). NHL by far has the best pre-season/exhibition games; there were 2 full-on fights, plus a bunch of heated skirmishes and a tonne of intense play. Also a very full crowd and people were into it for the most part.

Canucks looked good overall, particularly the Sedins. I am still nervous about Luongo, I always feel as if he is going to let the weak stuff in. :\

Also, I had completely forgotten how tiny the ice looks in real life, Having not seen a live game in over a year or so, the game on TV looks much bigger, but in real life it looks like one of those old school Canada vs. Russia bubble hockey games. 😀
