I also like Ryan more than Romo because he's a better manager of the game. Also at this very early point in his career I'd rather build around Cam Newton than Romo. So fa much less media hype and the kid can QB a football team.

I was considering adding Ben to the list, but his defense and RBs were also rather solid. As for Ryan? Eh, he's terribly inconsistent. And Cam vs. Romo - I'd rather have Cam to build around, but they both have Favre-itis.

A QB is one of the biggest factors in a team putting up points offensively. To think that you can judge the quality of a QB solely on the W/L column is simply absurd.

Trent Dilfer is not a good QB, but he still won a SB because the team around him was pretty darned good (especially on defense).

Cam Newton is taking a team that was overall pretty shoddy last year, and giving them some semblance of hope. He's thrown for the 2nd highest amount of yards so far this season, has a completion percentage over 60, and is the 13th rated passer in the league, as a rookie.

Another exception to my previous group was Andy Dalton. His TEAM is sitting at 5-2, in large part due to a defense that's actually doing something. In another part due to the Andy Dalton to AJ Green connection.

The main gist being that QBs frequently enter the league, and start right away and become successful, at least at some point.

Wins and losses are all that really matter in my mind. But we can agree to disagree on that. As you said Cam has taken a team that was overall pretty shoddy and they are still overall pretty shoddy. Although its hard not to improve from 2-14. That being said, he really isn't the problem, but he needs to find a way to inspire his team. I'm not saying he can't become great, I'm just not sold yet.

Yeh, Ben won his first Superbowl in spite of his play. He had what, something like a 13.2 passer rating that game against Seattle? But past that if the game is on the line there are few QB's that can extend a play and complete a pass like he can. He's a hell of a ball player and doesn't seem to crumble when the game is on the line.

I almost included Schaub in the list as I think he's a more consistent QB than Romo and less prone to bonehead plays, but he also has a hell of a set of skill players around him.

Tom Brady
Drew Brees
Aaron Rodgers
Philip Rivers
Peyton Manning

Who would you take over him? And give me a frackin' reason, not a "just because." Also, provide the stats of that player vs. Romo.

I'd definitely add Big Ben to that list -- he is clutch and knows how to win playoff games. I honestly don't believe Romo is terrible believe it or not; I mostly bring him up to poke you and regardless, he does seem to choke under pressure and that is a HUGE problem. He gave the Jets the game for one and has choked numerous other times. He has played too long to keep making these kinds of horrific mental mistakes on a regular basis.

Oh, and the Cowboys' defense is ranked near the top in rushing and mediocre in passing defense. Hardly terrible compared to the likes of the Patriots.

Living in Houston, I get to watch Schaub regularly and I have to say no, that if the Texans had a QB with the balls to make some of the throws Romo is willing to do, they'd go farther than they have.

yeah, but you're blaming the QB on the losses, despite his ability to put up points well above the league average on a ridiculously consistent basis, and in light of the fact that the Carolina D and special times are clearly incompetent.

so...you're argument is garbage.

no offense intended but how was Peyton's playoff record before 2007? Maybe the moral here is don't lose playoff games in Dallas or you'll be roasted over an open fire and called garbage all across the country. 😀

If Tony Romo is as bad as some of the descriptions here, then also add Michael Vick to the ongoing list of better players. That's still only 7-8 QBs better than Tony Romo? There are apparently a lot of scrubs playing QB in the NFL!

Actually once you get past the top 4 or 5 guys it does get very thin in "good" to "great" talent.
