If they can't even beat the chiefs, they aren't going 10-6.

Painter almost pulled it off. He's got what - 1 full week of reps with the 1st team now? Skill players seem to be rallying behind him... it could happen. Let's see what another week does for him.

Too bad Addai will be out for a while.

I always thought Brady was better. But when he went down, they still went 10-6 with a backup. Look at what the Colts look like with out Manning.

That's because Cassel is a serviceable QB that had Moss and Welker and they have a good head coach. Colts have Painter and Collins with.... ummm ....Garcon and what is supposed to be a head coach. Not saying that Brady is better, but you can't say, "oh, well, Pats still had a winning record w/o Brady".

If I had to pick the next best QB to succeed Brady and Manning, it would be Rodgers.

Wayne is still there, but suffice it to say, you can double-team him and single cover the others. Garcon drops the easy shit and even Clark was afflicted with Garconitis yesterday.

Really, though, the coaches are horrible. I don't know if Caldwell, Coyer, and Christensen could win a Pop Warner game without Manning there to win it for them. My biggest fear is that Coyer will be the scapegoat and Caldwell will get a pass since Manning is out. All three of them (Caldwell, Coyer, and Christensen) should be axed.

Cassel went 10-5 as a starter but the team went 11-5 that year. Brady went down on the first series. I don't see the Colts pulling that off this year.

Vick has never been known for his accuracy. Before he came back, Vick's highest accuracy season was a feeble 56.4 and even with his recent improvement, his career accuracy is 55.8

60% is HOF superstar accuracy...

That was an impressive completion, and I am not exactly a Vick fan. I do respect what he has done with his life since he has been out of jail.

Anyone else see a trend in the NFL relating to the importance and greater roles of Tight End's in offensive schemes? Brady has his pair, Cam seems to be making good use of Olsen and Shockey, Gonzalez is still making an impact in ATL, Finley in Green Bay is a very important aspect to their offense, Miller in Pitt, .etc. I have always considered the TE to be a position that does not get the attention it deserves, but it seems like this is changing somewhat. A great TE is part linemen and part receiver, an odd combination no doubt that requires a ton of athleticism and playbook knowledge.

I was thinking about this during the week, actually. It seems like the last decade or so could be known as "The Era of the TE"

Bu..bu..buuuuuut -- he's "dangerous"!!!!!

Well, we'll see how the rest of the season plays out. Obviously Peyton is a better QB than Vick, but my point is I'm not so sure why everyone is so quick to bash on Vick after only 5 games, either because his stats "suck" or his team sucks. Rivers and Roethlisberger have sucked it up this season as well, both by statistic measures, and if you've watched them play. Of course, they're still good QBs that have had their issues early this season.

Of the QBs you named I would easily take Brees, Brady, Rodgers, and Rivers over him. I don't think it's so cut and dry to take any other QB in the league over him. I'm not counting Manning this season, but yes I would take Manning over him obviously. It's pretty annoying arguing QBs with Colts fans, because all they say is "well he's not as good as Manning!"

...but that's because Manning is the best. :)

Were it me, though, I'd take Rivers--and probably Rodgers or Brees over anyone else.

Manning's best days are behind him because of the incompetence which has gripped the Colts' organization.

This, plus the ENORMOUS pressure Luck would have on him to fill Manning's shoes, would be big reasons for Andrew Luck to pass on signing with the Colts. Rookies can still opt to choose which team to sign with, perfect example: Eli Manning

There is a lot of parity in the league but also there is truth to sucking at the perfect time for building a foundation. Let's take two teams for example (yeah I know the pick # was a little different but just for AFC South comparison):

Colts: Manning
Titans: Young

There is a really good chance the Colts are going to suck at the right time, AGAIN, and get Manning's replacement without missing a beat. It's ridiculous.

Brady will go down as the best QB of all time. Their...i said it :p

And im biased, but damn he is good. Accurate on short and midrange passes, reads defences like no other, pocket presense. I think his accuracy on long passes needs work, but its not really needed.

The huge difference in the halfs...I think the chiefs picked up on something and worked it out during halftime and the colts coaching couldn't adjust.

LOL. He will be remembered for choking away a perfect season and a chance to equal Joe Montana's four rings.

Still, if he's able to come back and win another Super Bowl, he'll be remembered for having Super Bowl victories with what are essentially two different teams.

Part of me wonders if the Colts would use a #1 pick on Luck rather than give Painter a chance, especially if he ends up winning a few games. Painter isn't all that bad, IMO. He has a strong arm and all of the games he's played in so far have been 1 score games. He needs to improve his accuracy, but look at his "career" stats - less than 100 attempts and like two regular season starts. Manning will be back next year, I could see the Colts not take Luck in the first round and have Manning mentor Painter much like Favre mentored Rodgers.

Luck is considered a once in a generation QB going into the draft
(Manning being the last)

If you believe that (like many experts do) you don't pass on him.

There are a fair number of teams in the Suck For Luck sweepstakes running that may not really want or need Luck. The Rams, Vikings, Jaguars, and Panthers all have young quarterbacks with potential and might rather trade down in order to build up the rest of their team. The Eagles (yes, they are in the running) probably wouldn't need Luck either, although you have to wonder how much confidence they still have in Vick.

A team like the Rams could also potentially trade Sam Bradford to the same effect if they get the first overall pick.

EDIT: I'm not saying that Bradford, Ponder, Gabbert, or Newton are just as good as Andrew Luck, but they have the potential to be good enough that those teams might rather give up Luck to get a boatload of other picks. Don't know how high the trade value would be on those guys; certainly much lower than a first overall pick in the 2012 draft.

Did you watch the PHI game?

Only 1 INT was 100% on Vick.
2 were tipped.
1 should have been ruled a catch and a fumble.

Manning beats him in every one of those facets, esp. reading defenses. I've watched both for years, and there is no comparison -- Manning by a mile.
