Can't blame the dude. He's still going out there despite ZERO support from his general manager, offensive coordinator, offensive line and receiving corps. It wouldn't surprise me if he demanded a trade after this season. Yes, he's far from flawless and has his own set of issues to work out but he's not getting the chance to do so.

Tom Fucking Brady would be reduced to shit QB-ing this team.

I thought Mike Martz is a OC genius.

Dang there's like no upsets this year (besides Seattle). I'd be much better off in pick'em picking all the favorites to win each week.

What a mess the Bears are.

You have to have great athletes to play the cover 2, and the Bears used to have some. But it's obvious that too much of their defense is a year too old now.

You also need a pass rush without blitzing, and the Bears just can't get it. The first week against ATL must have been smoke and mirrors.

And don't get me started on the O line - that's just embarrassing. My bears fixes:

1) finish with a terrible record, something like 2-14 or 3-13. This would allow them to clear out Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith. Angelo is a terrible GM, and Lovie Smith (while being a decent guy) also needs to go. The cover 2 is played out, and is going to get shredded by the Lions and Packers the next few years. The D needs a fresh start with fresh players.

2) a terrible record would hopefully allow them to pick a can't miss O line prospect, and they should throw whatever money it takes at the top free agent linemen available. They have maybe 5-7 years of Cutler's prime left (assuming he doesn't want out after this year). Without an O line you might as well throw it in the garbage.

3) Draft replacements for the aging defensive veterans NOW. Good stay-at-home LBs are almost always available in the 2nd and 3rd rounds - you need to find someone to groom as Urlacher's understudy there. Target the best CB or S in rds 3-5.

4) sign Forte now; don't wait until after the season. Show some commitment to your best players. There's not a whole lot of spark in the Bears right now, and some of the cause might be their hard-line stance in dealing with contracts. Signing Forte now might light a fire under some other vets.

5) find a fricking third down back already! A smallish Darren Sproles type who can make plays by making defenders miss. Identify all of the small, tough jitterbug-type college backs who might drop because of their size and draft one to build a third down package around.

But who am I kidding? The Bears have enough experience to finish 8-8, and they'll convince themselves they're "only a player away". Thus begins lost era that'll result in some dark playoff-less years ahead while the Lions and Packers fight for the division.

I thought Mike Martz is a OC genius.

If there was ever a time for the Joker "not sure if serious" JPG, this would be it.

Martz has been successful in exactly one situation, when he had a team loaded with HOF caliber players in St. Louis. Beyond that his teams have been average at best.
