In any other job field, at best the employee would be put on paid leave until they find themselves before a judge or jury. At worse, they would be terminated by their employer.

The governor of your home state expresses concern at the fact that you're not taking this seriously.

Advertising sponsors are distancing or dropping themselves from your organization (Marriott?).

The public is the one that pays you and your organization and they are upset with you for the handling of this situation even if it is partly your parent organization's fault (NFL's domestic violence handling issues).

Standing up to media hype? The media is not the issue here, money is. Same as the the 49ers and McDonald. Same as the Panthers and Hardy. Wins bring in spectators, spectators mean $$$.

I find the hypocrisy of the NFL and some of those defending AP funny and sad at the same time.

people are defending AP to the point of semantics such as that a "switch" is not a branch. as if a switch is better. I find it rather amusing that people would defend it. Or that hitting a child with a branch is somehow better then hitting a wife because there was NO video of it. forgetting that it WAS A 4 YR OLD (also there is another accusation of him abusing another child)

The NFL is hurting itself by this and how they are acting. they went after Rice harshly after the video came out. But nothing from them even though there are pictures of what AP did to the child (btw those pictures are days after he did it. hate to see how they were the day off)

AP has admitted what he has done they should act as they have with rice. Actually they should punish him harder. i would say that beating a 4 yr old with a weapon is far worse then a guy hitting his GF who was hitting him.

Is that actually what happened? Because, all 3 were indicted for murder, Ray Lewis agreed to obstruction charges in turn for testifying against his friends, and then gave awful testimony resulting in acquittal of both of them. And, then Ray Lewis's comments before the next Superbowl were beyond fucking stupid concerning the case. Let's not forget he paid off some families. There is far more that went down that night, and Ray Lewis knows it. I don't give a shit if he is a born against Christian or anything like that; he was there and likely responsible for the death of those two guys.

This is precisely why I find his commentary (especially on the Ray Rice stuff) hard to listen to.

True, he's paid to give his opinion, but the condensending, hypocritical preaching is what I cannot stand hearing.

He's no "big brother" to Ray Rice.

Some jobs and companies hold their empoloyees to redicoulsly high standards. Just like a cop who is trained in deadly force they are held to a higher standard in application of that force in personal situations not just in their job.

The NFL is a private company with a moral and personal conduct clause that ALL OF THESE instances fall into. The NFL has chosen to let the teams flounder while refusing to act.


NFL should move fast as this one is getting away from them quick. Take it out of the teams hands.

Notice that I was responding to someone that claimed that Ray Lewis stabbed and murdered two people?

Yea, he destroyed evidence and tried to cover up for his friends, it was a terrible decision and he's admitted as much. Then he went on to lead a very productive life, never getting in trouble again.
 
If they wanted to, Minnesota could just wipe their hands of him and cut him. They aren't on the hook for guaranteed money and the salary cap is very minimal. He's the highest paid RB in the league by over 4 million a year IIRC. And he's not exactly young or low mileage.

Yes, that is what happened. The fact that the other two got off because it was determined to be self defense speaks volumes. Those two were responsible for their own deaths. I'm not sure how Ray Lewis would be responsible for their deaths when 1) he didn't stab anyone and 2) it was self defense.

Cutting AP would be a huge hit to their team. They want to avoid negative publicity and keep AP, because he is still good. I mean, he was how many yards short of the rushing record coming off a blown ACL? The guy is the best RB in the league and is only 29.
 
Reading an article about Peterson and abuse and his own father, I came across this picture. How the fuck can you be so jacked at that age? No wonder AP is a monster.

They could but he's the only thing the team has to a marque player. Rice is popular in Baltimore but not as highly regarded.

That and teams would jump at the chance to sign him. Rice is a little most questionable due to his injury and weak stats from last season.


The bottom line is the NFL has dropped the ball and these incidents went from a small story to a hugh issue that is now affecting the bottom line, $$$. That and many other players are now caught in this as the NFL can't go easy on them anymore.

His absence was very noticeable in the home game vs the Patriots, the Vikings only amassed around 54yds on the ground for the game and the Pats have had issues with run-stop so they went with Cassel to try and pass their way down the field, that resulted in 4 picks and to be fair to Cassel a LOT of dropped balls. The rushing stats were pretty bad, 54yds in 19 rushes.

If the Vikings cut him, he would be signed and playing Sunday on another team (hopefully, the Cowboys!). He is far too good for an RB for the Vikings to give up, and they know it. They are trying to save as much face as possible, while still keeping their options opened.

What I'm wondering is if he is still getting paid during this period of inactivation. I know if you're suspended, you don't get paid; however, I am not sure about being inactive.

Yes, he's getting paid. He's not suspended...he on some sort of Commssioner exception list, so he can still get paid -- like an excused absence.
 
heard a blip on the radio yesterday that i thought was pretty amusing - AP made more money last sunday not playing in the game than Russel Wilson will make this entire year.

Michael Sam, simply being on the practice squad will make $20k more this year than most MLS players. And every rookie makes more than all but designated players in MLS. They are severely underpaid. =('


Also, I wouldn't feel too bad for little Russell. He is getting a Flacco deal once his rookie contract is up.

makes perfect sense financially - nfl is bringing in a fuckton more money than the mls ever will, so it makes sense that the players get paid more.
