Martellus Bennet had 2 TD receptions? Marshall had a TD taken away by a penalty? If the opposition is dead set on taking Marshall away of course they are going to use Jeffrey. When your number 2 receiver is better than 90% of the receivers in the league why wouldn't you use him?

The bears run game has been really bad under trestman. For some reason they can't protect the QB and block for a runner at the same time it seems. They've fixed their protection issues with Cutler and now Forte has become useless.

trestman has no fucking idea what Defense is. they went from the best D to one of the worst D's in a short time.

also it does not help that they have a bunch of people hurt.

Don't know what it is, but does it seem like NFL teams have a lot more injuries this time of the year than normal? I mean, the Chiefs have about 8 of their starters on various stages of being on IR.

The defense got old. This was going to happen under Lovie too. There is nothing they could do to change it. They are old, hurt, and have a terrible D coordinator. So far this year the D-Line has been good enough to keep them in the opposing teams under 30 points which is more than can be said about last year. Bears score 30 in the majority of their games last year and still lose. Go figure.

I honestly think it's because about 2 years ago the players union won some settlement limiting the number of full contact practices they can be forced to do.

It limited a lot of stuff, IIRC. Like no two a day practices; limited fully suited up practices; and I think that has actually caused players to be more injured.

The starts coming up in week 3-5 the last 2 years in these threads. I'd be curious to see some #s.

That's what I'm thinking too, if you don't practice the way you play, then you can't expect to really play when it comes time to play. I also think the conditioning of players hasn't really adjusted to the new changes.

You have some players who are just elite athletes push themselves, maintain their strength and stamina throughout the year, then you have some that just show up for the team activities, which aren't nearly enough.

It blows my mind how the union even wanted to limit the practices. They are making SO much damn money that they could at least work extremely hard during football season. Put up with the crazy amount of work for 15 years, retire when you're 35-37 and then you can lollygag around.

The practices actually have the benefits of condition you so you are less likely to endure a career ending injury, making you a better player to get a bigger contract, and increasing your teams chances of winning the super bowl. Oh well, either way I'm jealous of these guys getting to play a game for a living. My school growing up didn't have enough kids for a football team so I never got a chance to play.

Between the fumble and the PI, officials directly impacted a 14 point swing in the game. As for the fumble, after a couple examples of similar events over the last couple of years, the refs were supposed to let such plays proceed as normal because replay would always be done and can correct any problems.

It feels like we're seeing a lot more moderat or more severe injuries during games this year, wonder how much of an impact from gutting the OTA & training camp practices this is due to.

this. Chicago D was great when Urlacher, Tillman, Briggs, Tank, etc were all in their prime.
