If it were anyone else besides DeShowboat Jackson I'd accept that in the frenzy of the moment they lost track of time/clock and did that until they had a chance to check and finally run it in.

But since it's him I'm going with it just being one final fleeting moment of being a drama queen.

I thought I heard on his post-game interview that he did it for showboating reasons. It's his general nature given all of the showboating that he's done in his career, including that falling backwards thing last week.

However, running parallel to the goal line to run out the clock is something you'd do in a video game. It's a completely smart and legal move so you don't have to kick it off and risk losing a game but no one ever does it. I'm fine with people doing it. When you're in the heat of the moment after running 70 yards, I don't think most people know exactly how much time is on the clock, so delaying to confirm the time would be understandable.

Is he the dude that started celebrating early last year and got the ball stripped out of his hands at like the 2 yardline?

it wasn't stripped. he spiked it himselft. it would have been his first td in the nfl.

there's also a clip of him in college when he tried to dive into the endzone with no one around him, and put the ball on the turf at the 1. lol good stuff :D

Stokley did the same thing 2 years ago when he got that odd ass deflection with time about out. Ran along the line to kill time since the TD would win them the game.

The best celebration ownage I ever saw was probably 10 to 15 years ago in a game between the Oilers and the Vikings. Cris Dishman had intercepted a pass and was running it back for a TD. Well, he thought he had a clear path and started high-stepping and celebrating while looking and pointing at the fans on his left. He was not aware of the Viking coming at him from the right that clocked him HARD and caused him to fumble the ball.

If anyone finds a video clip of that, I would be very, very happy!

Haha, that's right I forgot about it. What an idiot. You'd think he would learn his lesson. He comes off as a huge piece of ghetto trash though, so he probably isn't the brightest bulb in the shed.

You do realized that the Giants might not even make the playoffs? THAT happenstance would make me snort and guffaw with glee!

Tom Coughlin may possess a lot of strengths as a coach but he has always looked like one dyspeptic and miserable SOB to me.

While I don't agree with this stance, I see the argument for a team like the Giants being sent to the playoffs in place of the NFC West spot.

just saying. :\

it wasn't stripped. he tossed it behind himself nonchalantly, just ahead of the goal line. lol, what a douche. that was a thing of beauty.

Anyone who thinks DeSean wasn't showboating is foolish.

haha, yeah. I think they showed those replays last week, or whenever it was, that he did the dive. what an ass.

i wish he would just stick to the Leon Lett moments, rather than actually scoring. :\

I still don't understand how that kid has managed to stay in one piece as scrawny as he is. I'm amazed a linebacker hasn't snapped him in two for his antics.

lest you forget Westbrook going down at the 1 yard line, unopposed, to run the clock out a few years ago--much to the consternation of many FF owners. :D

In those situations, though, the team already had the lead. DeSean did need to score, and run the clock out at the same time. While running the clock down is understandable, this is DeSean we're talking about. He has a colorful history of being blissfully unaware of the goal line, much less what's going on with a game clock.

You sure it wasn't the superbowl with the cowboys? Almost same scenario.

Yes, that was Leon Lett being stripped of the ball by Don Beebe. While that was comical, Cris Dishman getting clocked while in the middle of a celebrating high-step was the ultimate.

A few weeks ago Neon Leon Washington got chased down and got shoestringed by the freaking kicker at the 5 yard line on what should have been a touchdown. That was funny.

Probably 15 or 20 years ago, there was a rookie kick returner who didn't realize that the ball was LIVE on a kickoff. It sailed over his head and hit the ground, rolled to about the 1, and stopped. The kicking team ran down, picked it up, and rolled into the end zone. I want to say the returner was Barry Foster of the Steelers, but I might be mistaken. It was epic.

I've known this ever since one kick off in Madden 94 when I managed to run my defenders down the field and 'intercept' the kick off from in front of the returner and score :D

They had a quarterback in the CFL that scored a touchdown. He then went on to spike the ball, the ball bounced up and hit him in the nuts. As he was in pain he stumbled into a defensive lineman who then pushed him and the QB ended up falling to the ground and knocking down another defensive player. Funny stuff, I think its on youtube.

There was an episode earlier this year, I don't remember the player or the team, but the guy was running in for a TD after a LONG run...took his eyes off the prize...to watch himself on the big screen...and got taken down at about the 1. I DON'T remember if he lost the ball or not, but it was funny as hell at the time.

quite frankly, who cares if he was showboating? the dude ran back a punt return on the last play of the game where the eagles had an incredible, if not miraculous, comeback.

normally i don't care for all the toolbaggery involved with getting a touchdown, but in that case... he earned it.

just like the NE defensive guy who had the 71-yard return. that was epic.
