Pats defense was uncharacteristically weak against the run tonight. Wonder if they might be missing Spikes a little bit.

That and they need to get rid of Merriweather because other than getting the easy interceptions that any SS could get he's a fucking detriment to our team. Taking out McCourty on that TD pass to Jones was the result of an absolutely terrible angle because he was out of position. Please get rid of him and get a better safety next year BB.

Offense was a little off tonight too but effective enough.

The Pats were possibly the best team that Flynn could have started against. The Pats have virtually no pass rush.

And as to Merriweather, and the rest of the Pats DB's, I think they are far better than anyone realizes. The get left out to dry on almost every play as opposing quarterbacks have way too much time to throw.

Don't forget, this is the rebuilding year for the Pats. Belichek took another DB instead of the pass rusher everyone said he needed because he figured it took longer for a DB to learn the NFL, and he could get his pass rush next year, when the Pats have like 6 picks in the first 3 rounds.

Problem with the run defense tonight was the lack of defensive linemen. Drederick(sp?) had to leave the game, Pryor, Brace and Wright were inactive for the game. Warren and Wilfork were forced to stay out there almost all game when normally the Pats rotate 6-7 defensive linemen during the game.

Ah, the Bears move somehow one step closer to making the playoffs. Pathetic that either St. Louis or Seattle will make the playoffs with either 7 or 8 wins.

No, Merriweather is just god damn awful. The rest of the secondary I give due credit to. Chung is a beast and easily their best safety. Arrington has come a long way over the course of this season. Sanders has always been better than average. And McCourty would be defensive RotY if not for Suh.

And another heart breaking loss by the Packers. Six losses this season, the losses were by 3, 3 (OT), 3 (OT), 3, 4, and 4 tonight. :(

Niners can still make it in as well. :awe:

Where do I stop this list?

Special Teams: Great call and coverage to begin the game, but tuurrrible on the kickoff return at the end of the half. Mastay stepped it up this week though. Some great punts last night.

Tackling: Yes, still suspect. Do the Packers even do live tackling drills?

Run Game: So, in the first half, let's run AT the Pats best run stuffer. Yeah, that's a GRRREEEAAAATTT idea.

Matt Flynn: Great 59:40 seconds of playtime. Turrrrible 20 seconds.

Receivers: Hey Quarless, hey Nelson...Look the frickin ball INTO your hands first. I swear Quarless is one of the more useless tight ends I've ever seen.

Well, the good news is that playoff destiny is still in our hands. We just have to win out to get into the playoffs. And against the Giants (Hey Giants, the game is 60 minutes long, not 45 minutes) and the Bears (Hmmm, we almost beat the team that blew you out at home) we might have a chance at this.

But this season is definitely a "Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda" season.

Give credit where it is due. I agree that the pat's past games made the Pats secondary look better than they really are, but that kid really showed up.

Also, you see that Branch block on the BJ-GE TD? If we still had Moss, that TD would not have happened.

I agree with some of what you said, but certainly the bolded. So painful with 3(?) loses of 3 and 1 of 4? Ugh. Losing the players we have to injury too... ugh. It really gives hope to next season though, even if we don't hit the playoffs this year. Win out may not be that easy, the Giants are still good (and will be playing angry) and the Bears/Packers is (almost) ALWAYS a epic battle. How awesome will that be if that is what in comes down to though for the playoff birth.

So tonight I have to actually cheer on the Vikings? Puke. This is going to be painful.

Flynn looked good. I gotta say I had no idea who he was. They mentioned he was a national championship and my wife both looked at each other and said "with who???". That was a quiet championship under LSU. Russell was hyped so much and look where he is now. This kid is a legitimate QB. Looked good under pressure and had some excellent throws under the middle. I don't really blame him for the last 20 seconds. He had no TO's and GB simply wasn't prepped to go down to the wire. They just looked like a lost team entirely.

I'm curious to see how NE fairs against a team like Atlanta in the playoffs. I don't really care about Wilfork. NE looked hopeless against the run off the tackles. GB was consistently getting 5 yards a carry there. A pounding ground game seems to be the way to beat NE...RE: Cleveland. Hillis destroyed them. I'd like to see what Turner & co from Atlanta would do to that front line of NE. You can't cheat on them because Ryan will light you up. But Brady will carve up the ATL secondary too.

That will be a fun superbow. I'd still like to a NYG & Pats rematch too. That'd be interesting. NY has a pretty good ground game and excellent passing game. And depending on which defense shows up they could give the Pats some trouble.

You gotta remember too, GB's run game is COMPLETELY non-existent. So either they really dialed it in after the loss of Rodgers, or NE's run D really, REALLY sucks. I'd take ATL over NE in the SB any day of the week. Even with the B-Boys.

So if I am not mistaken, if the 49ers win out, they win the division. Amazing.

CORRECTION: That assumes Seattle loses at least one more time, which seems possible.

I think that the O-line coach this past week for GB got a tongue lashing from Coach, and rightfully so. Our O-line was absolutely AWFUL against Detroit. But I think a combination of lack of a couple run-stoppers on the NE defense plus a rejuvinated O-line from GB made this run-game possible. You can't argue with the numbers of pass plays vs run plays GB had last night. I think they were pretty much even, something that hasn't happend in GB since the beginning of the season.

Is it possible to roll the NFC West into the PAC-10? I think Oregon has a chance of beating Seattle this week....

Watch for the First Annual IndyColtsFan NFL awards, to follow the regular season. As the anticipation mounts, speculation abounds:

1. Can Mike Singletary win coach of the year?
2. How many Colts will win awards?
3. Will ICF shock friends and foes alike by giving some awards to Patriot players?

Stay tuned!

Altanta runs a no-huddle don't they? Going no huddle and just running the crap out of the ball and driving it downfield with no good chance of substitutions and I think NE is screwed.

Having 3 starting defensive lineman as well as their starting (run stopping) inside linebacker out definitely played a part in how poorly the Pats run D was last night.
