mmm.. who's getting skipped for the subway series??? The Mets announcers said that its Pedro vs Brown on Friday, Heilman vs Johnson on Saturday and I think Benson vs Pavano on Sunday. Is that right??!

The only matchup I'm sure of is Brown/Pedro.

Well, the Yankees aren't the only contender out there. Why doesn't Clemens say, "Hey, I'd love to pitch for the Red Sox and help them win the WS 2 years in a row!" or even St. Louis.

I've learned to accept that the deep Yankees pockets can afford a lot of players that other teams can't. What bothers me are players that only insist on going to the Yankees because they are the Yankees, even when other teams can afford their salary.

I believe the reason that Clemens wants to come back to NY was because of Torre and Mel. He told John Sterling that Torre and Mel were the best coaches he ever had. He has a huge respect for NY and how the fans supported him throughout the years and he can pitch in the spotlight. What better way to go out than as a Yankee? Boston fans cursed his name when he left them. That being said, I do not want to trade Cano, Wang, or any of our decent young guns for his 1/2 yr of service.

Dan Kolb is just horrendous. I'm sure John Smoltz right now wishes he finished his game.

..back to topic. Nice win by Pavano..he really needed that as he hasn't pitched that well so far this season.

Only the 1st inning and with just one out recorded the Yankees already have a 4-0 lead on the sorry Mariners. Looks like the Yanks will win 11 in a row cause the Mariners stink and wont come back from this.

The Yankees have owned Moyer for years now.

My dad grew up in NY and loves the Yanks, but since we live in FL now, he can't hear the games. And because our sattelite tv is down, he went and bought an XM radio. He's outside right now, listening to the game.

He was all giddy and uppity. My mom said she'd never seen him like that, ever. And they've been married 25 years, lol.

Baseball can do that. It makes everyone feel like a kid again.

It's OVAH, and so is the streak! Giambi blows it with the bases loaded, just looks at 3 straight strikes, how fitting. :)

I am shocked, appalled, <insert Jackie Chiles here> that Giambi took that third pitch. It looked to me like he was guessing more than he was actually hitting.
Also, watching Posada do anything but stand at the plate and hit makes me cringe. Base-running, fielding, the whole 9 yards that isn't hitting is just not part of his repertoire. He rushed that play for no reason - if he took his time he STILL would have had Olivo by 4 steps.
Sloppy, sloppy game right there.

Yankees just threw that game away with terrible errors. Oh well, would've been nice to hit Shea with an 11 game streak.

True, even though they beat themselves last night - the streak was bound to end sometime soon. I'm looking forward to the Mets games this weekend.
