Still want to see how they perform against some good teams. But first, beat up on the Mets this weekend.

Beat up?? The Yanks won't be beating up on the Mets like they did with the horrible A's and Mariners. Oakland and Seattle are both just terrible teams..the Mets will provide some good competition.

I agree that the Mets are better than the teams the Yanks have beaten recently - I think the secret to beating Mets is don't pitch to Floyd at the moment. I'm looking forward to some good games - with the Yanks winning, of course. Is Pedro pitching this weekend?

Yea.. Pedro pitches on Friday. Yanks have owned Pedro for quite some time so I honestly expect the worst. The last thing I want to see is the Yanks killing Pedro at Shea with Yankee fans chanting you know what. ggggrrrrrr
Should be a fun series at least.

Yes, Friday night supposed to be Pedro vs. Johnson. Can't wait, it's at Shea too, wonder if Yanks are going to throw at Pedro, much like Mets did at Clemens.

I was at that game. You call that "throwing at Clemens"?? I laugh at that comment. Maybe if Clemens had an ass the size of JLo's, your statement would be accurate.![]()

I've seen almost every play in he's made in his career. I don't think he was ever "great". He had some years he was good, sometimes really good. Be he wasn't that great defensively IMO.Originally posted by: Argo
He had a gold glove. He was a great defensive outfielder. He never had a great arm though.Originally posted by: ThePresence
I'm not ready to write off Bernie's defense just yet. He hasn't played the field in a while so he's obviously a step slow, and not getting a great read on the ball. He was never a great defensive outfielder to begin with.Originally posted by: raystorm
Bernie can still get that big hit once in awhile but he's totally lost it in centerfield. Wang looks pretty good...he's pitched better than Pavano and that god awful Wright so far this season. Not too shabby.Originally posted by: ThePresence
Darn, Bernie missed the ball and broke the streak of 17 in a row retired. Kid has been perfect since the first inning.

I think I agree with that.Originally posted by: raystorm
Yea.. he was good out there defensively..not great. He can track a ball well and in his early days he was of course faster and could get to the ball better. His arm has never been that good but he won't be remember by Yankees fans for his defense. Its his timely hitting that fans of the Yanks will remember him by. He always seemed to get those big hits when it counted.Originally posted by: ThePresence

My goodness.. the pitching for both the Mariners and A's are just AWFUL. Its like batting practice sometimes. Beltre and Sexson are doing nothing either. What happened to them?? Pavano has been solid so far.
