By that logic shouldn't Johnson have asked to go to the Red Sox or the Cardinals? Heck, even the Marlins, since they more recently won a World Series than the Yanks.

You had to figure they'd get on a roll at some point, altho 99% of the world not on life support would rather see them finish last.

The rookie kid just retired 10 Mariners in a row while Sele is in trouble every inning.
EDIT: 13 in a row now.

Their pitching is awful.

Not lately (aside from Pavano).
Lately doesn't matter. Their pitching IS awful.
That's totally untrue. They have quality pitchers who were underperforming. They are now performing close to what was expected of them.
God told me he hates the yankees.
Just passing it along man.
God IS a Yankee fan dude. Just watch Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty. He's wearing a Yankee cap. :)
No movie with Jim Carey is credible. God is a bosox fan and made the reference in that movie for a joke.

If God is a Sox fan, I'll be happy letting him be one. He ain't done much good over the last 90 years or so. :)

He doesn't interfere unless he really wants to. Which would explain last year.

Darn, Bernie missed the ball and broke the streak of 17 in a row retired. Kid has been perfect since the first inning.

Yeah, but how do you explain Leyritz and Brosius?

Bernie can still get that big hit once in awhile but he's totally lost it in centerfield. Wang looks pretty good...he's pitched better than Pavano and that god awful Wright so far this season. Not too shabby.

I'm not ready to write off Bernie's defense just yet. He hasn't played the field in a while so he's obviously a step slow, and not getting a great read on the ball. He was never a great defensive outfielder to begin with.

I grabbed Tino off waivers last week for my fantasy league. He had an unreal week last week. I only got credit for half the numbers he put up, but it was still awesome.
The Yankees can lick my balls, but Jeter and Tino are doing right by me on my club.

Well, the Yankees aren't the only contender out there. Why doesn't Clemens say, "Hey, I'd love to pitch for the Red Sox and help them win the WS 2 years in a row!" or even St. Louis.

I've learned to accept that the deep Yankees pockets can afford a lot of players that other teams can't. What bothers me are players that only insist on going to the Yankees because they are the Yankees, even when other teams can afford their salary.
If I'm the Rocket, I'd want to be pitching for a team with talent. The Yankees are an anomoly. It's like an All-Star team in the middle of mediocrity.
Who else should be there but the Rocket?
And yes, the Yankees suck. :)

Rookie starting pitcher, rookie 2nd baseman, unproven defensive left-fielder, no bench to speak of, DH who can't buy a hit, etc.

He had a gold glove. He was a great defensive outfielder. He never had a great arm though.

This argument makes no sense. The team with talent is the team that wins the World Series, in this case, the Red Sox, the team that beat the Yankees last year.

Sure the Yanks have a lot of guys who USED to be All-Stars, but only a few of them are still All-Star caliber. Heck, if the Yankees were such the anomaly you're saying they are, there probably wouldn't even be talks of the Rocket going there, since they'd be All-Star caliber already.

<--- Yanks fan.

Still want to see how they perform against some good teams. But first, beat up on the Mets this weekend.
