$90 for the 120 gig drive only - $0.75 a gig

The 120 is a much better value. The 20 is the most affordable, but really only allows for one game at most to be loaded on the drive. I really like the install option to keep the DVD noise down.

I'd grab the 120 if you can get it at that price, if not go for the 60.

Well, that must have been nice for Major Nelson... guess that's what happens when you're the only person updating, but that certainly wasn't what happened with me last night.

I logged on and it asked if I wanted to update, so I said yes. Then it did the usual progress bar on the side blade. This part by itself took 3 or 4 minutes. When it was done I thought I was still thinking that was pretty damn fast for the whole NXE... but alas, that was only the beginning. The system rebooted and then it went to the real update. I guess the first update was just the update to get the new update screen. Anyway, the new update screen started and it estimated the time remaining to be 31 minutes. It didn't actually didn't take that long, but I'd say the whole process still took around 20 minutes.

So for those people expecting the update tomorrow, don't expect any 1 minutes updates.

Yikes! Didn't know it downloads more data after it reboots.

I'm hoping to god that the NXE update is "released" at midnight PST tonight, so that'll give lots of time until I get home from work tomorrow night for everyone else to make sure there aren't any problems with anything.

For me it was about 20 seconds for the initial DL, then maybe 6-7 minutes for the second, larger download. Even at 20 minutes, for the size of this update I don't see that as being out of line.

12 second vid of Major Nelson saying we are about 14 hours away from launch of NXE. He posted this at 10:53AM PST so NXE should be released at 2-3AM PST which is about the time they normally put out the Arcade releases on Wednesday.

If you are able to grab the clearance price you can sell the transfer cable for 20-30 bucks on ebay. dropping the cost from lowest of 50 cents a gig to about 60 cents a gig.

I opted for a new 120g because I needed to xfer my data and didn't want the hassle of redownloading hundreds of Rock Band songs.

130.00 for the 120 gig at amazon.

Sell the transfer cable for 30
Sell the 20gb hd for 30-40

final price around 60 dollars.

What? No one is excited about the blatant Mii's rip off avatars? :p

Not sure if we'll try the Netflix streaming and I've only got a 20GB HDD, so for me it'll be a faster UI.

Heads up:
Circuit City (seems like all, not just closing ones) are selling the 120 GB hard drive for $99. Not sure if its a price mistake or what. They also most of the time have $15 off $100 coupons up at check out. Buy a coke or something to get your price over $100 and walk out the door with a 120 drive for $85ish. My local one was out of stock. If anyone happens to get 2 at the $85 price, i'd gladly take it off your hands

Apparently Netflix is restricting some files from the Xbox:

"Our Netflix streaming queues just got considerably shorter on the eve of the NXE launch. Acting on a tip, we popped into our Netflix account and sure enough, our "Instant Queue" had a new "Notes" column with an oft-repeated, red (nobody likes red!) notice: "Not available on Xbox." Logging onto Xbox Live (with an NXE account) confirmed that these titles were no longer available for streaming on Xbox 360.

We've reached out to Microsoft for a full explanation -- so keep your fingers crossed that this is just a launch period mishap (like someone flipped the wrong switch ... or something). We're betting on licensing issues, though, which could further cripple the service. Currently, there's no way to tell if a title is excluded from Xbox streaming until it's added to the Queue (reminder: this can only be done from a separate computer). We're not much for statistics, but we can tell you that 13 of 110 items in our Instant Queue are now unavailable, all of which are feature films. The blackout seems to have hit a range of flicks, from: Superbad to Bad Boys; Drunken Master to the entire Karate Kid trilogy (that's right -- the entire trilogy! We don't count that Next Karate Kid noise). We'll update when we learn more.

Update: We've found a common thread! All of the affected titles from our Queue are distributed by Columbia Pictures. Case closed?"

From Joystiq (my link buttons aren't working atm).

Also Columbia Pictures is owned by Sony... If that's the case this is a low move on Sony's part. Very low.

That's weird. I was reading about someone watching Superbad via Netflix earlier today. If true, that is indeed a low move on the side of Columbia and Sony.

I guess Sony Pictures not released under the Columbia name still stream though. Probably about 15-20% of the movies in my queue were unavailable on my 360.

I never got the email but it was available for me. Took a few seconds to dl and 2 minutes to install after restart. I love it so far. Trying out netflix now. Navigating is smooth as butter.

Anybody else gonna be a bitch like me and protest this by not signing up for an account tomorrow? I think I'm gonna just wait and see what the fallout will be on this, because I don't want a gimped service because they didn't get their licensing shit straightened out.

Yep, it is Sony blocking Netflix streaming over licensing issues...dicks.

A week ago, I started watching ?An Evening With Kevin Smith 2? through the Netflix streaming service on my Xbox 360 but didn?t finish. Now, I can?t watch the rest.

Joystiq broke word this evening that Netflix stopped Xbox 360 users from streaming movies distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

This restriction only applies to Xbox 360 users. PC, Mac and other Netflix-enabled on-demand devices can still stream Sony Pictures Entertainment films, and is not a glitch.

?In the case of Xbox 360, a few hundred titles are temporarily unavailable to be streamed via the Xbox game console,? Netflix VP of corporate communications Steve Swasey told MTV Multiplayer in an e-mailed statement tonight. ?Those titles are still available to be watched on subscribers? computers and on TVs via other partner devices, and we hope they?ll be licensed for Xbox 360 shortly.?

When asked if the license just coincidentally expired as Microsoft was adding Netflix support or Sony Pictures Entertainment specifically requested Xbox 360 streaming to be disabled, Swasey wouldn?t say.

?As watching instantly becomes a more prominent part of the Netflix service, our goal is to have all of our streaming content licensed for all of our partner devices,? he said. ?We?re doing well in this area, but it will take some time before we fully achieve that goal. Today, titles regularly come in and out of license and there is a natural ebb and flow to what we have on license at any given point in time.?

For now, however, Sony Pictures Entertainment films available for streaming through Netflix ? including ?Superbad,? ?We Own The Night? and others ? will remain blocked on Xbox 360, until Sony says otherwise.

Your post makes it sound like you blame MS/Netflix for not allowing it. I think that Sony being the license owner is probably the one being the bitch and denying access.

The original post said something about the possible culprit being Columbia Pictures (are they owned by Sony?). However, with Queasy's update, if it is Sony that's being the bitch, then I'll go ahead and sign up as planned just to tell them to go fuck themselves. But ya, I made my post with the thinking that Netflix didn't get the deal done with Columbia Pictures.

I believe you go the the My Xbox channel >> Games Library >> Select the game you want to install >> Install to Hard Drive

Or you can just press Y at the disc channel when the disc is in.

Anyone know where I can find a list of what is available to stream via Netflix? Their site only shows a small amount as a sampler. Or, if anyone just wants to check for me, I'm primarily looking for Chuck S1.

Nevermind... I went ahead and signed up. Planned to do so again at some point anyway.

I'm kind of annoyed that they've gone backwards in some areas.

1. I now have to select my video source every time I want to watch videos. Previously it would automatically use my last selection.
2. I believe fewer videos/folders are displayed on the screen at one time when scrolling through video folders.
3. IIRC, previously when you hit A on a video file, it would start playing (or prompt you to resume or restart if you had previously watched part of the file). Now it always takes you to an additional screen where you have to click play. WHY???? There is only one option on that screen! Yeah, I would occasionally accidentally start a video on the old dash. I can live with that though!

They seem to have sped up the sidebar and the XBLA game list (but they still haven't improved the interface to XBLA games to the point where it was before they screwed it up). Netflix is fantastic. Other than that, I don't like this interface any more than the old interface, and in many ways I prefer the old interface.

I have to wait till tomorrow, but I'll throw in my 2cents anyways:
1.) yeah, that's pretty annoying and really had no reason to be changed
2.) I don't see how that should be a problem? You have to scroll down to the same file anyway regardless of how many are displayed onscreen at a time.
3.) That's plumb fuck retarded. I hate the double (and sometimes more) confirmation shit on the PC, and now it's making its way to the consoles.

Well, the main thing I was looking forward to with this update has been royally stuffed.

I have two 360's in different rooms, and simply move my hard drive between the two depending on where I will play as I don't always have access to the tele.

The feature I was looking forward to was the game install.... which will only work on the console you originally installed the game to the hdd on. Move the hdd to my other console and to run the game from hard dirve will have to uninstall and reinstall.

How f'ing stupid is that? Especially considering you need the disc in to play anyway!
