Maybe someone at Sony should watch the video that Major Nelson posted of the NXE install. It took right around a minute to download and install before you're up and running again. PS3 updates usually set me back 20 minutes.

Do you think it will really be that fast? I just assumed they skipped over that part or sped it up (either artificially or because of the company connection) so half of the video wasn't watching it install.

Actually, I guess that's a good question for people that were accepted into the beta. How long did the installation take?

It took a bit longer than the video. I'm going to say it was probably 5-10 minutes because after it downloads the update, it installs it. Major Nelson skipped that part, but it's honestly so short for what you are receiving.

The actual system update file (the one that was leaked) is only 7.6MBs. It took roughly 2 minutes to install off a flash drive.

Wow, that's impressive. I guess what blurred said still holds true, especially if PS3 updates take him 20 minutes. :Q

I assumed the video showed the exact time, because all other dashboard updates have been quick as lightning. But ya, PS3 updates have always been slow as hell for me, I don't know what their deal is. 20 minutes isn't an exaggeration, I assure you. I'm sure someone will back me up on that.

Four Live Arcade games will get an update on Wednesday that incorporates Avatars.

Sweet I have both Uno and Bomberman live. I wonder what the new Uno is going to include? Like what is going to be new about it, Uno is a fairly simple game. Can't really add to many more things to it.

From the video I saw, Uno will replace your gamerpic on the game board with your avatar, and on Bomberman, it was still little bombermans running around, but your avatar pic was at the top of the screen showing who's who.

man, it was like getting a whole new console. Like the 360.5.

The whole experience is just, better, faster. I can't even begin to tell you how much faster the system and the games feel; most noticeable was Fable 2.

I'm oddly really looking forward to this. I didn't really care much but now that it's just 2 days away and the more I see, I am excited. Im going to get up a little early before work to try it out on wed morning.

Now I wish I had a bigger hard drive to install games to. I have 9gb free and that's only enough for 1 game. Darn

Check your local Target. They have the 120GB HDD on clearance for $90.

MS Giving Out Mucho Grande MS Pesos

Microsoft will dish out a million MS Points as part of its 'New Xbox Experience' launch plans.

46 winners will share the spoils, with one lucky gamer getting the grand prize of 500,000 MS Points (£4250).

Five winners will also pick up 50,000 (£425) each, ten will receive 10,000 (£85) and 30 will pick up 5,000 MS Points (£42.50).

You've got to be in it to win it though, and unfortunately that's going to mean spending some money.

You'll need to download the NXE, register your gamertag by downloading the NXE Download & Win Gamer Picture, and then download a piece of premium content from Marketplace.

It'll need to be a movie, TV show, full arcade game, Xbox Original, a game add-on or a music video.

Maybe not worth the price of admission by itself, but it's all good if you're planning on some downloads this week anyway.

The more you download the more entries you get, up to a total of ten entries, between Wednesday and Sunday.

Wouldn't it be funny if you downloaded your weight in themes and gamer pics only to win, but then to have nothing to buy with all points because you bought it all just to enter.

Yeah, i went on a target hunt this weekend. All 4 of my local targets are out. And they were last at $125ish. I'd pay $90 but $140 at amazon is just too much. If the 60 GB $100 pack came with the transfer cable, i'd be tempted.

So rock band songs count as a game add-on, and therefore an entry into the contest... right?

11/17 - Major Nelson

Instead of adding another 10,000 people to the preview program like we did last week, we've decided to do something a little different: everyone who successfully applied to the preview program (and had a valid console ID) will be getting the New Xbox Experience sometime within the next few hours. That?s right?we?re hooking everyone else up with NXE a bit early. If you signed up and are not prompted, that means you did not enter your console ID properly and you'll have to wait until Wednesday.

Don?t worry, it?s almost here.

Thanks again for your overwhelming interest in the program.

AAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHH - It's like their tormenting me for taking that one weekend to do something where I was completely disconnected from anything to do with technology.

Just signed up Live so I can hopefully take advantage of the NetFlix streaming. Depends on whether my network connection fixes itself.

Just got it installed. Its interesting, I dig it for the most part.

Its a lot more responsive than the blades, but its also a bit over cluttered with ads, maybe it'll just take more getting used to, but I like the extra focus on the games/achievements. I wish I could browse through my downloaded games with cover art (like you can when browsing to buy), but the actual game launching is far better organized than the blades.

I dont really like the avatars much though, theyre not nearly as good as Miis. With Miis, you could move every little bit and really catch the essence of someones face, even if you couldnt change clothes. With the avatars, the faces are generic, and the clothes arent much of an improvement.

I'm installing gears 2 now, so now I can play with the console being loud, instead of WAY too loud. The drive in there is just ridiculous, but the fan alone is still pretty absurd.

I'd say its a winner overall, even though it'll take some getting used to, its just so much more responsive and easier to get to stuff than the blades.

Add to that you usually have a new EULA with every system update. Not nearly as seamless as how the 360 does it.

Got mine too!! Setting up Netflix now.

How is Netflix? Have you tried the HD streaming?

Netflix works awesomely. Everyone I've showed has been impressed with the standard quality, let alone the HD quality. HD is on par with OTA HD and works great on my 6Mbps connection. They already have Heros Season 3 up for HD streaming (they add the new episode each week). The HD selection isn't GREAT yet, but I have high hopes for the future of the platform.
