If you want to pay 2/3 of the price of GT5 to play MAYBE 25% of GT5, then it's worth the $40. If I were really big on racing games, I'd probably pay it. GT5 is nearly a year away, isn't it? If I were really looking forward to a game, I'd probably pay $40 to play a portion of it a year early. People bought Crackdown just to get in on the Halo 3 beta. :Q I'm not a hardcore racing fan though, so to me it's worth about $20.

Holy shit, are you illiterate? I just said I'd buy it if I were a big racing game fan. Its value depends on the buyer. I just paid $15 to be a beta tester of BF: Bad Company, and that'll get me a lot less than you get with GT5. You know what's in the game, and you can't figure out if it's worth $40 to you? It's a good thing you have Internet forums to make your decisions for you. The game isn't worth $40 to ME, that doesn't mean I think it's not worth $40 to anyone.

It sounds like you also think it's a rip off but want someone else in the forums to help you feel better about being ripped off.

Nope. Already had the 2.20 update on it. It goes like this:

- HDD install
- Update

All in you will be loking at 25-40 mins before you get a game in. Add another 20+ for 2.20 if you don't have that.

WIN?

Fail.

I want to buy the EU version. ONLY thing that is stopping me is that I know you can continue your career from prologue to the full game. I just want to make sure that I can continue if I buy the US version of the main game.

I really don't want to take that chance, so I suppose I'll wait for the US version to release. Not to mention I would rather have the disc in hand. But, its damn tempting to download it

OK, been playing it since the OP. great game. Lets run through some first inpressions:

- Feels like GT4 with better GFX/Physics. I guess this is the point and it is good
- Does not feel like a 'Demo'. Feels like a full game.
- Online is OK, but it matches you up with players. I can't play with buddies.
~Online is a ramming battle. :| I got a barrier penalty for being rammed from behind into said barrier. :| ++
- It's easy to earn credits and therefore cars.
- Online is a ramming battle and good clean races are rare, but good when you get them.
- GFX are amazing. Car dynamics feel very good, but geared more toward easy control, not so twitchy (Not tried Pro physics yet)
- Online is a ramming battle.

I'm just using a regular controller.

Ask away! (I'm hitting the sack, so answers tomorrow...! lol)

2 questions:

1.) So there's absolutely no options for custom online play, just simply a single button to throw you into a race?
2.) Do online matches seem to typically devolve into ramming battles? :p

A1) Pretty much. It matches you up accoring to your skill as far as I can tell. You have a list of game types and circuits and when you select that it creates the game. If you are in Pole then your PS3 is the host.

A2) No. Most of the time they just devolve into ramming battles. ;)

If you like GTx series games and racing in general I would say yes. If you enjoyed GT HD Concept then you will love this.

Well, thats what I was most interested in. Looks like I'll be passing on GT5, as I felt GT4 made the franchise a lot less fun, and it was almost entirely due to the control. I'd have to go back and play 3 to really say if they changed it that much, and I'll chalk it up to the fact that I'm more into arcade and light sim games now. I'm sure it'll be a great game, but I don't think its my cup of tea anymore.

You know it's possible to get a region free Gran Turismo 5 disc or a european or japanese disc from american ebay right now. You could be playing it now even though it's not released yet.

But I guess the American Multiplayer servers aren't up yet so it would be pointless..

Divide, do you have a 360 too? Have you played Forza 2? How does it compare with GT5?

Thanks!

I've heard that Forza 2's physics are much, much better than GT5: Prologue's. But obviously, GT5: Prologue has substantial headway in graphics and eyecandy.

Should check out TeamXbox. It's generally a very biased forum (as PS3Forums is), but there are multiconsole owners there that are comparing the two games from their experiences.

OK. Update.

Done all the AB&C events and now I can tune cars. Also I can now enter Intermediate and Expert races. These have 'performance point' limits, so you can tune a car of your choice up to this limit and enter. Intermediate has regular physics and Expert has Professional. Penalties are dished out for ramming and shortcuts so racing is a little less 'rammy', but rubbing and gentle nudging still exists and is VERY annoying if done well... Don't expect to get around by booting it into a corner and skimming the barrier.

The ONLY cars to have on the beginner courses are the AMuse S2000 GT1 Turbo (617hp) and the Ford GT LM spec II. Fastest cars available, but good/lucky rammers in lesser cars will still win from time to time.

I updated my Japanese GT5P to Spec II and it deleted all my event wins :( Now I need to do those slow class C events again. At least I still have my cars...

Your connection appears to suck. It doesnt take anywhere near 20 minutes to update for me. Maybe 10, and thats stretching it.

i think he knows that, which is why he's asking someone who seems to be into racers.
