OK. Update.

Done all the AB&C events and now I can tune cars. Also I can now enter Intermediate and Expert races. These have 'performance point' limits, so you can tune a car of your choice up to this limit and enter. Intermediate has regular physics and Expert has Professional. Penalties are dished out for ramming and shortcuts so racing is a little less 'rammy', but rubbing and gentle nudging still exists and is VERY annoying if done well... Don't expect to get around by booting it into a corner and skimming the barrier.

The ONLY cars to have on the beginner courses are the AMuse S2000 GT1 Turbo (617hp) and the Ford GT LM spec II. Fastest cars available, but good/lucky rammers in lesser cars will still win from time to time.

so the physics change with the difficulty?? can you elaborate on that? why would they have different physics for each difficulty?

Wait, what do you mean "installing"? Don't tell me this is Capcom-like...

I think he meant 2.2 update.

we may never find out cus i think he syringered our faces.

Nope. Already had the 2.20 update on it. It goes like this:

- HDD install
- Update

All in you will be loking at 25-40 mins before you get a game in. Add another 20+ for 2.20 if you don't have that.

WIN?

Your connection appears to suck. It doesnt take anywhere near 20 minutes to update for me. Maybe 10, and thats stretching it.

No my 8Mb line does not suck, I got it on launch day. Thousands were updating, but yeah, it was my connection...

i think he knows that, which is why he's asking someone who seems to be into racers.

You entirely missed the point of my post (two of them), but I own:
Forza 2
PGR 3
PGR 4
Test Drive Unlimited
Ridge Racer 6
Burnout Revenge
Dirt

I'll buy GT5 when the full version comes out.

in what way does the physics become more difficult?

I'd imagine the more realistic they are, the more difficult it is for a human with just a controller to handle.

I bought a logitech driving force pro wheel. It is force feedback. It gives some resistance while you are turning and even more resistance if you are coming out of corners and stuff. And if you hit something it will vibrate and react accordingly.

You can get smoother turns and you have more control of the turning but it's still difficult to detect when your car is about to spin out there is no warning ahead of time. I guess being in a real car you can feel when it is right on the edge and about to spin out so you can have more precise control but I don't know because I have never raced a real car before.

Braking unloads the rear and hampers control if you brake late. Power oversteer develops into a 'tank slapper' if you over correct and keep your foot in, etc, etc.

The way I see it, lots of games come out every single year at the full price of $60 with minimal changes (all sports games, Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, etc), so I have no problems with paying $40 for a glorified demo of arguably the best sim racer on consoles, then paying another $60 over a year from now for the full game.

The Blue Box.

I must trademark it now.

Interesting, though I would expect the physics engine to remain the same though. did you notice this while playing the exact same car through each difficulty? maybe they just change the type of tires? Tire grip was always the most unrealistic part of GT, I think.

Looking forward to getting this tomorrow. I briefly debated picking up a new dualshock 3 along with it, but as of right now I'm going to resist the temptation.

Has anyone picked this up at a EBgames or Gamestop??
The local one here in Miami, FL is saying tomorrow??

Ya, all my local Gamestops (a ridiculous 6 in total for this small city) are saying tomorrow. It would figure that I have plans for tomorrow night 🙂.

yeah im gonna nab a new controller with feedback and give the game a shot...maybe make me turn my ps3 on for longer than 10min at a time..

Lol, PSWii...if u say it slowly sounds like P*ssy owner XD. Anyways, gonna pick this up tomorrow. Even if the the gameplay isn't that well, nice to have some eyecandy.

Anybody getting the Logitech G25 wheel for this game? I know GT5 prologue works with the G25's H shifting and clutch, so it's gonna be as real as it gets. With 70 cars to play with, it should be the best simulation combo yet.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Play less games.

I picked this game up earlier this afternoon while I was on my lunch break at work. Now I just have to wait until class is over and get home to try this game out before I head to bed.
