Ahahaha--post like this crack me up. Why not use google or go to EB/Gamestops website to get the info? :)

Everything related to gaming here is blocked... EVERYTHING ;)

Anyways, I just picked up my copy. Decided to not get the SE, they didn't have any extra anyways.

Funny thing is, some kids mom was picking up the game for them (kid wasn't there) The guy handed her a SE edition for PS3 that was paid in full and she acted surprised (about the SE and the paid in full part). She walked to the back of the store for a minute and got back in line behind me. She said she didn't think he gave her the right package. She said they don't even have a PS3.
I'd be pissed if the gamestop guy gave someone else my paid in full preorder... haha.

After seeing the boxes last night from people getting it, I'd say that at a simple glance, it doesn't look like it's anywhere worth an extra $30. Seriously, the box that everything comes in (the game, a duffel bag, and lock box) isn't much bigger than a regular game box. I was amazed at how small the package was. The lock box really can't be any bigger than a 10"x8"x3", and I'm assuming the duffel bag can't be that large as well if they managed to shove it inside a box that small. At the very least, if they have any extra, take a look at the box. I'm guessing you'll decide to save your $30.

If you spend $30 extra on a "collector's" edition, I suggest taking the lock box that comes with the game, put your wallet in it, lock it, and throw away the key. This should at least temporarily keep you from spending money on any more useless shit.

Just ordered mine from Amazon. Now I have a decision to make, do I start Mass Effect which I've been putting off for months due to being busy, or do I play GTA IV instead and wait even longer on Mass Effect? Decisions, decisions.

I've got my greedy little hands on a copy. I stopped by Target on my way to worked and picked it up. I'm snowed under at work though and can't take the day off or I'd be home right now doing some serious crime. Damn you end of month!

Probably a good thing I didn't get it last night. Got pulled over for speeding this morning. Now, since I didn't play I just sat there and got my ticket and drove off.

Had I played GTA last night I'm sure I would have A) tried ramming the cop off the road. B) Finally stopped, gotten out of the car, and pulled out a shotgun/AK47/bazooka. And C) Destroyed the car and then run over the body a few times.

See, it's a good thing I don't have it!!

Well after actually seeing the SE stuff in Gamestop I realized the stuff isn't worth $10

Just played a little over an hours worth on the 360 version. The graphics are great, but I've not seen anything thus far that will make your jaw drop. The dialog is absolutely fantastic thus far, even though I've a little bit of trouble hearing some of the accents over the radio that I didn't know how to turn off until a couple of missions in. It's been very funny so far, I've laughed out loud on a few occassions. Niko seems like a cool guy thus far, and his cousin is a bit of a prick whom I'm assuming you will have to bail out quite a few times as the game goes along.

It feels just like a classic GTA game as far as controls go, although the driving will take a bit to get used to. Right now I really dislike the driving controls, but I'll be fine with it after a while I'm sure. The cars seem way too heavy and are hard to stop.

So far, I'm enjoying it. I'm off to bed now, but will play a bit more tomorrow after work. No multiplayer for me until tomorrow night.

It was a bit cold tonight at the midnight launch, and when I showed up at 11pm, I was probably around #40 in line. I figured the Halo line last year was going to beat this one all to shit, but by the time it hit midnight, the line rivaled that of Halo. Easily 200 people at my local Gamestop that I was at.

I started around the same time as you and stopped around the same time as you, and my impressions were pretty much the same. The beginning missions are clearly a tutorial - I think I did 9 missions including one date and on the last one I finally got a gun. I expect it to pick up some now.

I noticed the difference in driving as well. Not nearly as easy to do ridiculous maneuvers as in previous iterations. Brakes don't slow you down quickly, turning sucks when you're braking, and the e-brake turn is much harder to do without spinning. I suspect that they did this on the crappier cars to give the better cars more of an advantage beyond speed. I would expect a sports car to handle much better. I'm getting used to it pretty quickly.

Standing in line at Gamestop, looking at the people around me I got to wondering what all of you guys look like. Lots of stereotypical teenage gamer dorks there - plus one hot chick.

I ended up going to work today after all... After playing for an hour and a half last night, I was content enough to wait through the day today before playing again. Not that I'm not excited to play again, I just don't need to finish it that quickly.

From the Gamespot review:

However, while driving, you might notice one odd quirk that has been a constant ever since GTAIII: When taking the controls of certain vehicles, you'll suddenly notice a lot more of the same vehicle on the roads. It's not a big deal, and it isn't detrimental to the gameplay, but it's a little jarring if you get into one of the more unusual vehicles in the game--for example, the equivalent of either a Ferrari or a pickup truck--and suddenly find that the city is filled with them.

That was one of the weird little issues that I always had a problem with, all of the sudden the streets would be flooded with freaking dunebuggies or garbage trucks after going ages without seeing one anywhere. I was hoping it would have been resolved for the current gen. of GTA games seeing as how the realism and immersion has been upped so much, but what can you do?

I guess run people over with garbage trucks, that's what.

One thing I loved about Vice City was that you could buy a bunch of businesses and different buildings. Anyone know if the same is true of this one? I haven't read anything about it.

Havn't preordered it, but am hoping that bestbuy or gamestop will have plenty on hand. Get off of work at 5:00, counting down the minutes...

Any chance there's some sort of minor content filter?

I know it probably "takes away from the game" but if it's the difference between being able to play and not being able to I'd take it!

Same here. :p Most people at the front of the line last night were the typical teenage dorks who felt the need to hoot and holler (<-- sorry, Kentucky slang). They would also yell out the time remaining until midnight, which was super annoying, until at one point somebody yelled out, "38 minutes to go!" There was an eery silence afterwards, to which someone replied, "Shut the fuck up!" That was hilarious, but otherwise, most of the dorks there were pretty annoying. The actual sane people started a few in front of me, and everybody behind me in line were well reserved. There were a couple of good looking women there with their men, so not all was bad :).

I'm 27 and don't fit the teenage loud-mouthed jerkface persona, but I fit in with the people I was standing around. It was kind of boring being there by myself, but I kept myself occupied with brickbreaker on my blackberry. I doubt I'll go to another midnight release by myself again, though, because it was kinda boring.

I'm currently seeing about taking a half-day today, because I really want to go home and play some more without the wife at home :). Couple that with the >5 hours of sleep I got last night, and I'm sitting here wishing I had just went ahead and taken the day off.

Yes, it was a 9.5 when first posted and they switched it to a 10. There is a screenshot of the 9.5 on the CAG forums. It didn't read like a 10 to me either.

Its not like we needed any more evidence that gamespot is nothing but an absolute joke at this point. All the talent is gone, the entire site should just go away and die already.

I had to open the game and make sure the disc wasn't scratched before I left the store. Ever since I went through 3 copies of halo 3 to get one that wasn't scratched, I have been paranoid.

at my gamestop it was a bunch of thugs waiting for the game. these guys would roll up in slammed cars bumping their speakers, get out, smoke a cig, and then walk towards the line. they were inked up from head to toe and wearing sunglasses staring everyone down, and then they'd come up to you and politely ask: "is this the line to pick-up grand theft auto?". with all the thugs and this one guy for some reason kicking mid-air next to me, you'd think we were out there starting a damn fight club or something.

Maybe they use it as a learning tool? Practice? More than likely they are just posers.

Despite having a rental copy in the mail from Gamefly, I couldn't wait. I printed out a free rental coupon for Blockbuster and just ran up there and rented GTAIV. They had more rental copies for a game than I've ever seen for a Blockbuster.

Just picked up my copy at Gamestop, my buddy tried to get one but they were out of the 360 version... had plenty PS3 copies though... so we went to Target and he got it there (they had a bunch). Oh, my target also had 4 Wii's in stock also.

I'm amazed you were able to get it. How many copies is more than you've ever seen? I think the most I've ever seen is 4 or 5, but I usually don't even try for new releases anymore.

What's the best deal going for the game right now? CC has a $10 gift card if you buy it today and Target has a $5 off coupon for any game or toy over $25.

I was thinking maybe Fry's would have something...do they?
