Really simple (although I'm not sure how Forza works).

I assume with Forza you start in 1st gear for the race start (maybe you have to start in neutral?).
-Whilst moving, hit the gas and revv it up to redline
-Push the clutch in and hold it
-Upshift
-Let the clutch out.

Or if you're braking a need to downshift...
-Hit and hold the brake pedal
-When you're revv's get lower (maybe 2-3K below redling) push the clutch pedal in and hold it
-Downshift
-Let the clutch out

In real-racing you'd want to revv-match so you'd heel-toe shift, for Forza I'd probably just downshift and then hit the gas when you're ready...I dunno how you play though.

In reality it's a little more involved than that but you can only go so far with a video game at the moment.

The best advice I can give is that the race line isn't always the fastest way around the track. Forza's lines have always been good "default" starting points, but the optimal line is determined by the car, the setup, and your specific driving style. There are several places where the line indicates you should be braking, where really all you need to do is let off the gas for a slit second or enter the turn from a wider angle than the line suggests.

Yup. As I mentioned, you do most of the track in 4th gear. 3rd for the two hairpins and 5th going down the front "straight" (although it's not very straight).

This is what I'm thinking about buying...although I have to decide if I'm adept enough with the wheel to justify buying it...and to see if my wife will kill me...

the one me and a friend made was painted black and had the same footprint at the one above. only difference was it was a little chunkier and you didn't have to straddle some stupid bar.

we retired it with plans to build a collapsible model in which only the chair itself would have sit out.

but whatever, go spend $250 on a couple of pipes welded together.

I found out I'm diabetic last week when things started to go bad. By the time I got to the doctor my glucose was over 1000 mg/dl(thats about 10x higher than a regular person). They were surprised i wasn't in a coma and a flurry of activity ensued. I also had some surgery on my leg to manage an unknown infection. I'm still pretty banged up, but I'm alive and mobile. Played some demo last night and my times blow. Mainly because I can't change the button cfg on the controller, and I can't position myself yet to use the wheel due to the surgery. Thanks for the comments fellas. i've missed our racing and hope to be back in fighting shape by launch night.

Wow, sorry to hear it! Yeah, we'll get back into Forza 2 night shape. OSJ made the new thread, start posting ideas and such.

Oh, and it sucks not being able to change the buttons, I agree.

Sorry to hear that quik. You'll definitely want to keep that under control and watch your diet. I worked with a guy that was diabetic but ignored his dr about the do and don't eat. He ended up having to have one leg amputated and the other one about a year or so later.

There is no cure for diabetes. In most situations it can be regulated with diet, exercise, and meds. Unfortunately I will have to give up about 90% of what had been my regular diet. Diet soda only, no more drinking, no smoking, no refined sugar, red meat is pretty much out. It's really gonna suck.

What a let down this game is.

Graphics are dull, especially the car interiors.

AI is amazingly stupid.

Very little feeling of speed at all.

The only thing I like is the steering, it works very well with the wheel. But that's not enough to make me buy this pile. Too much focus on having the most content, which has left the rest lacking is my guess.

Now that I know how to do hotlaps I might put a little more time into it. That 2 lap race thing was keeping me from running many laps. I haven't hooked up the wheel yet but I did manage to get you guys with the controller in the FR Ferrari :)

Position 2,107 1:08.902

I haven't put much time into the game since Thursday, a few more laps with the Porsche. The Mini, Ferrari, and Audi have very little time in 'em.

I played a little last night after I finally got connected to live long enough to get the demo downloaded. But it was like 3am though, so I wasn't really doing any good.

How do you do hotlaps? I couldn't figure it out. :p
