The 360 version actually runs smoother, but the PS3 version does look/sound better.

They both run at 30fps. The PS3 version has slowed down for me maybe 3 times in 20+ hours of play, and these were all during cutscenes (when nothing was going on, strangely enough). You can definitely tell when it dips, so I feel confident when I say it runs at a consistent 30fps outside of those random, weird moments.

Music in this game is shit. Well, except the recycled final fantasy music that occasionally shows up.

I think there are a couple tracks I could do without, but I think the music in the game is at least fitting if not mostly excellent at times (ex: battle music).

Ok i have only been able to play the game for an hour and half. it LOCKS up far to often. have been reading a few sites and seems its happening to others too.

No issues here with the PS3 version. Tested on both my 40GB and 60GB model (each with 20 hours of play through).

Really? I think most of the music is pretty good, and far better than the shit that showed up in XII.

PS3 or Xbox? I've been on the PS3 and it plays wonderfully with no issues.

yeah PS3. seems most are locking up at chapter 7. but some are locking up on changes of cutscens. there is a huge thread on the PS forums.

seems to be hitting most with the older fat model. i have a 80gig version.

All my other games work great and just watched GI joe in blu-ray and it was fine.

I've had no problems with dipping or freezing at all (40 hours in on 120gb slim) so must say it runs nice and smooth. Only pauses are between cut scenes where it gives you a choice ot save. After saving it sometimes has a 2-3 second black screen before kicking in the next cut scene.

As for chapter 11. Man it was a totally different feel to the game. A bit confusing at first and i finally learned there was a map lol. never needed it before here. Some of the mobs were rather tough and i spent maybe 3 hours grinding cp till the main roles for lightning/fang/hope were maxed and moved on. For the most part it was easy going and got 5 stars on the few required missions. I hadnt spent any cp sinc emaxxing primary role in a hope to just blow it all at the expansion. The bosses were the only hard part. The first one well he kicked my butt a few times. Butt he wasnt that bad. Bit long of a fight but o well. The final boss though
i tried it twice and both times got DOOM cast on me and had maybe half his health gone. This was using fang as sentinal pretty much the whole time. Tried a lot of paradigm switching with rav/sen/rav med/sen/med com/sen/rav (or med) with little luck. i was either to near death and healing and doing no damage and not staggering or i just wasnt damaging neough. anyways i spent the rest of my cp (which gave each character a ~500hp boost) and switched up to using rav/com/med and com/com/med during stagger. I used med/sen/med once or twice i believe. Anyways it went soooo much smoother. Fight took 12 minutes with no doom and only one scare when he slept both lightning and hope and managed to kill fang and then as i tried to get fang back up he killed hope. Anyways i recovered from that and other than that it was easy going. Com/Com/med was definitely key as he went down so much faster and is damage output really isnt much.

FF12 was shit - everything was shit about that game. It doesn't count.

FFX - amazing music.

FF8 - Amazing music

FF7- Amazing music.

I have the PS3 80 MSG version and have not problems with it pausing or locking up. The most I have played at one time is only 5 hours at a time.

Man, this game's secret/hard enemies are way too easy. Mission 51 was a cake walk, so was the final mission. The hardest enemy in the game is probably a Long Gui, which even isn't a unique monster =/

So there are no ridiculously difficult enemies (ex: Weapons, Yiazmat)?

The hardest thing in this game is likely fighting a Long Gui without a summon. Even then, it's not a particularly hard fight. The last mission of the Faultwarrens, Attacus, hits like a paper bag if you have the proper equipment. Mission 64, Vercingetorix, goes into full defense mode way too much and allow you to fully recover often. There's something wrong when people end up killing the secret boss of the game in 5 minutes :(

Hardest fight for me so far has been mission 55, but that's probably because I was doing it way too early so I could have the reward :p

It sounds like the developers overestimated how hard these bosses actually were, then. :(

I'd say it is comparable to the Weapons. If prepared properly, the Weapons were a joke(KoTR, W-Summon, Mimic, Magic Plus Materia for Emerald, 2x KoTR-HP Absord-MP Absord- Mimic for Ruby). I got SuperStar on the final boss(incredibly easy) and then upon returning to Pulse had my entire party one shotted by a much weaker version of Long Gui. Sure, if you have all of your Crystarium full, Ultimate Weapons and ideal accessories you are going to tear anything up, but that is no different at all then it was in VII.

I went with Snow, Hope, and Vanille- Snow tanking, Hope healing and Vanille spamming death non stop, took a couple tries but my final attempt got him in under a minute

In the end the biggest disappoint for me was that there was no way to stat max. I loved redoing the sphere grid in 10 to get everyone's stats to 255. I also enjoyed grinding sources in 7 :p

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing too, but once the big one was dead I didn't have any very offensive paradigms set up... I had to ravager everything to death with Vanille.

What's a good farming spot?

I'm at the end of the game and kind of want to use Snow as a Saboteur/Ravager.

I only recently discovered how much better Lightning's Sentinel abilities are than the other sentinels.

Wait, what? Snow as a Saboteur? Lightning as a Sentinel? Why?

Lightning - Sentinel, Commando, Medic
Snow - Saboteur, Ravager, Sentinel, Commando (currently using Fang as Saboteur, Commando, Medic, Sentinel)
Hope - Synergist, Ravager, Medic

Of course, Lightning is a Sentinel only for defensive purposes, and a Medic for emergency healing. Most of the time she's a Commando. Lightning has Evade, Counter, Fringeward and Deathward... these are the best Sentinel abilities IMO because you just don't get hit most of the time, or you can protect teammates from area of effect damage.

Snow has good Saboteur abilities, unlike others. So you can max out his magical for Ravager and not worry about him being a commando. He isn't the best Ravager as he only has Blizzaga and Waterga but Hope does the rest.

Hope does healing duty, hasting and stuff, and Ravager duty.

Well, Hope is accurately filling his roles, but why are you making Lightning a Sentinel? She actually has pretty low HP. And Snow as a Saboteur? It just seems like you're making things unnecessarily difficult. The game gives you the freedom to do what you want though, so if that's what you want your party to be then more power to you :p

See my explanation above. Yes you can use Fang as she is best Saboteur, or Sazh as the best Synergist, but they fall behind either in inconsistent stats (like Sazh just doesn't have high magic, and Fang being a Commando means she goes off doing her own thing and she needs high Strength AND magic, she makes a terrible Ravager as her Ravager Crystarium is piss-poor).

And I can't stand Vanille's groans and moans. But she does have Vigilance which is one Synergist ability worth having her for just a dash of Synergist to her Crystarium. She's a good Ravager but her Saboteuring abilities are far worse than Fang.

just got to chapter 11 and have hit a difficulty spike. Even killing those creatures with flowers on their backs is kinda tough. Well, I pretty much use relentless assault constantly and can only 3 star them.

Wondering if I should upgrade weapons, or have planned out my crystarium differently.

The only thing i've done crystarium wise is keep it even so far. Vanille is Saboteur + Ravager and sometimes medic, though not often. Lightning is mainly commando though I switch to tri-disaster to pump up the stagger bar sometimes. She also does a little medic when needed. Then I have hope, or as I just started chapter 11, Snow. Ravager + sentinel. I'd like to use Sazh but he has poor stats all around.

I tried Fang + Lightning + Vanille. It worked ok I guess.

You can not go through the game without Haste... you have to use Sazh for haste early on and Hope does not get Haste until way later (he is useless to me until then).

Depends on how far you're in the game. If you can kill the Admantortoise without shrouds, I'd say go for those. If you've spawned the Long Gui(s) by completing the circle of life, I would say farm Shaolong Gui for Gold Nuggets and 120k CP per fight. They can be brought down in about 2-4 minutes depending on your gear. If you've spawned the Long Gui and are maxed out on CP, but not Gil, simply go to Eden and farm that single Admantoise by reloading from the save point repeatedly.

You're making life very hard on yourself by not having Fang in your party as a Commando. Given her Strength gain end game, she can easily hit for 1.6 Mil+ damage per full ATB bar. She's also the second best Saboteur behind Vanille and as a Synergist has all the required buffs to make the party amazing.

Not if the lead is a Ravager, she'll follow your target. No idea why it works that way, but it does.

What game have I been playing through then? By the general description and title on the box it seems like it's FFXIII, but you certainly don't need haste at all. It's a trade off, it is nice to have in some fights, pretty worthless in others, but I haven't seen any fight where it is necessary at all.

Takes too long without haste... I have no patience.
