***UPDATE***

Community Update - 7/8/05

First off, a HUGE thanks to all of you who emailed me in regards to the memory leak found in the update we released earlier this week (v1.01). Your emails found their way to our production team and they?re in the process of evaluating what needs to be done in order to get this fixed. In the meantime, and since the 1.01 update is causing memory leakage on some systems, we recommend that you reinstall the game and NOT the v1.01 update we released earlier this week.

Reinstalling Battlefield 2 will not affect your in-game medals or ranked server statistics. EA and DICE are committed to getting a fix for v1.01 as soon as we possibly can and will continue to keep you informed through this web space in the coming days.

NOTE: If you installed and are running the newer server files (Win and Linux versions) we made available earlier this week, please revert those as well. We found that those files had the same issues with memory leaks as did the v1.01 update. You can download the older versions here.

[EA]Mike

Great, let's just hope it also doesn't break other stuff in the game. Oh and while we're at it how about a FIXED Linux server that we don't have to hack the perf files so we end up without end of round stats?

Here's to hoping they just forgot to include "fixed bugs causing intense lag" in the readme...

Hopefully that will help minimize it a little.

Even now though, if you've got >=1GB of RAM and you find a decent server, it runs pretty well.

Yeah, I've got a gig now, but I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and double it.

Going to double mine also, up to 2 GB. Mine plays pretty good right now, but I'd like to speed up load times just a bit.

Also, I love getting sub 30 pings on almost every server that I get on, with no lag :)

No offical widescreen support yet? Guess I will have to wait even longer before buying it now...

Man, ain't that the truth. For those of us with 19" monitors, 1280x1024 is the sweet-spot for just about any application... as opposed to the wet-spot that is 1024x768.

1280x960 is fine for CRT's and digital FPD's... just don't manually stretch to fill 1024 or allow automatic stetch to fill by the panel or drivers. Monitors should include 960 capability when correctly installed with the manufacturer's INF. ATI includes 960 by default. If NVIDIA does not, they do provide a custom resolution tab, if I am not mistaken. So, essentially there is no issue except with analog-only FPD's that lack their own controls and always fill the maximum screen area.

Worked great for me... Browser speed is much improved with a dialog telling you it's doing something when refreshing. Some stats have gone wonky for other people but mine stayed the same. Haven't played yet, will wait until tomorrow when all the servers should be ready.

You can add 1280x1024 support via the shortcut. I forget the syntax, but it works fine.

There will be NO widescreen support in this game according to EA. However if you have your command line with this:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 768

It works.

the patch also added a big problem for me. everytime the round ends, I get booted no matter what server I'm in and I have to rejoin. Back to COD:UO again I guess.

yes I know all about that. The problem is that the FOV is still screwed up.
