I guess I didn't preorder in time. I thought I was pretty quick with my order. Oh well. As long as I get it in the next week or two, that would be fine.

These new product launches/preorder parties never turn out the way I want them too.

*sigh*

I don't have the money to be impatient, so I'm waiting as well :p

Well, I can't find OEM's anywhere, I don;t need the HSF, and the cheapest retail without shipping is ~$600, so $20-30 is not too high a price for me.

Double woohoo.

Shipped, arrives on Tuesday!!!!

Now a question - Will a Vantec (all copper) 7000 be enough to cool it?

Sold out quick?
I ordered at 10pm EST last night, they were still showing 'in stock' at midnight.

Well, I think at least 4 of them went to people on this forum alone. I would have to guess at least 100 4400's. Last I looked they still had 4600's

I guess I have kind of an unrelated noob question. I just went to Arctic Silver's website to read up on the AS remover (which I have heard miracles about, and just purchased), and noticed that in their directions on how to apply AS, that you just put a small dot of it in the middle, and use the HSF unit to spread it out evenly. The only thing is though, you have a larger portion of the CPU heat spreader uncovered. I have always been under the impression that a small, thin layer over the entire surface of the heat spreader was the way to go. Also, if AS' way is correct, how will this work now that you essentially have two cores in the middle, wouldn't you need to spread it over a larger surface area?

Well, I can't speak for AS5, as I use plain white thermal paste, and it works fine for me. My procedure is to pur the thinnest even layer of paste over BOTH the CPU and the HSF and the entire surface of the cpu, and most of the hsf. Then mate them. Never had to reseat due to heat. Mt OC'ed 3000+ at 3500+ speed at 1.5v (winchester, stock is 1.4) is running at 46c full load with an XP90.

I'll have to look into that one. Is that just a revision of the standard board, or is it a new model number? If it is just a revision, I doubt I can get that specific. However, if it's a special model numer, or if there is any other easily identified characteristic, I can probobaly track it down. I will do some research myself, but if either of you can let me know as well, that'd be fantastic. Then I'll know what to go on.

Yes, but only a few models at the moment, as the only supplier we've got lined up is out of stock on a lot of thier stuff. I will at least look up that model and see if they have any, and I'll let you know.

Does anybody know of a BIOS tweak guide for DFI Lanparty UT? I'm going to bench my 4400+ later tonight, but I'm a little lost with all the BIOS options (especially the memory configuration). I'm running TCCD (2 x 512MB).

Hmmm. Sounds like they need a little competition. I'll not ship CPU's for half of what it costs to have Monarch not chip them. :D

Does the Diamond flash image utility (DFI) have the same/different/better ability to handle weird situations such as this?

Some of us don't have another socket 939 proccessor to flash the bios with before we put the X2 in.

I don't think DFI nf4 board has such ability. And if you ask it on dfi-street about this bios question, they will ask you to send the board to them and they could flash it for you.
I asked about flashing the DFI with an X2 over on the DFI forum and someone else replied that they asked the same question recently and were told the board will boot with an X2 on the stock BIOS and flash without any problems. I'll keep you all updated on how that thread goes. I'm hoping to be able to provide a link to an answer direct from DFI.

If anyone has had this done to them by Monarch, I would immediately call your credit card company and have them put a hold on the charge. It would be one thing if they shipped it out the next day but when they really don't have an idea when they'll be able to ship the product out to you, that's plain illegal. I have no doubt your cc will have no issue putting a stop to any payment to them. I'd also file a complaint with the FTC and BBB.
