I liked your retort, though. "Who got killed?" or something to that effect.

yeah it was 'who died?'

about a minute later I OHK'd him with the SV and asked if that was better and he again insisted that I suck(not that I am super great or anything) but it was amusing to say the least

i checked his stats and he apprears to be a pretty legit player, just an assbag

cant find him now, but 2+ KDR and 400+ SPM. WL was retarded good, but didnt look any deeper, I didnt want to run my mouth too much and get pwned if he was obviously really good

TLDR: Move BF3 install to another drive (SSD)

Anyone with the digital copy (downloaded version) able to move the install from one drive to another (SSD or other) without having to download the entire install again? Curious if anyone had any luck doing that as I wanted to get another SSD to move this to.

Here are the instructions I found online that I was considering: (source: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=28124537)

Steps marked with * are optional and are merely for later convenience

1. Create "Origin Games" folder in desired location*
2. Copy (or cut) Battlefield 3 folder to the newly created folder
3. Rename original BF3 folder if you'd like to keep the files*
4. Uninstall BF3 through add/remove programs
5. Change Origin install location to the folder that contains your new copy of BF3 (Origin Games if you followed step 1).
6. Restart Origin
7. BF3 should now say "ready to install," click this and it will go through a quick install (couple minutes)
8. Start up BF3 and everything should be exactly as it was
"
Any feedback is appreciated as the load times are getting a little long in the tooth especially when I try to play during my son's nap time :sneaky:

Why don't you take the initiative and try it out :D
So when my SSD drive arrives maybe I won't have to re-download 12+ GB!

Someone was screaming at Zargon for hacking the other day when you were in the hardcore server w/ dyn and I. Not sure what he was so upset about either, I think you were just puttering around in a tank. hahaha

Are you guys talking about the download direct from Origin? That's pretty annoying if you don't actually have an install file you can save.

I bought from Amazon download, and I actually have an install file. In fact, the one annoying thing was that it would only download to my C: drive, which is my OS drive and is nearly full. I couldn't install the game on C: with the installer also on the drive, so I simply cut and paste the install file to my storage drive and installed it back to C:. And now I have it forever. Given the issue you guys are having, I think I'll avoid Origin in the future.

Hey man, you're legit (i.e., pretty much super great), but you're no Expandas in the Battlebus. Man you had me busy manning the gun and repairing at the same time. That's a heck of a lot of key presses, let me tell you. And then I got shot out. What's new? :(

yeah I am no expandas......we did alright but then it was a LAV a tank a helo and a jet, way more than a 2 man bus can handle....

I updated my original post. I decided rather than risk uninstalling the game and risk being forced to download again I found another way to do this. See my post for details. And yes, the SSD definitely did help load times considerably. Those SSD are pure awesomesauce.

Which SSD did you order?

I've had multiple 40+ kill games with just me and expandas in the venom. Probably with the occasional hitchhiker here and there. F2 fire!, F3 fire!, F2 fire!, F4 repair!, F3 fire! , F2 fire! , F4 repair!, etc...

It's also pretty useful on the scout helicopter. I have no idea why more people don't use it.

Although I heard it may have changed last patch, guided missiles in general had a large chance of missing ground targets if the target moved after the missile made its final arc towards the vehicle.

no way, all about the scout chopper w/ laser designator + guided missiles.

Question - do flares work against laser/guided missles/guided shells? I keep getting killed by those things when I'm flying jets and chopters...:'(

need ECM before the missle is fired, it will break a lock

attack choppers really need driver ECM and gunner FLARES to be best protected, as ECM is worthless once a missle is fired even with heatseakers I beleive

yea ECM work however i swear 90% of the time someone uses ECM before the lock they dont move much and stay visable to just get targeted again for me to smash them out of the air with the tank .

TBH one of the most fun things in the game IMO is knocking helis out of the sky with the guided shell

I dunno about that, last night the RU chopper seemed to be somewhat effective at dodging guided shells and javs when hitting the ECM after missiles were away. You might just need to do it at a certain time--not sure.

I could very well be wrong :)

sometimes I'm too busy playing to do pay attention to the finer details, and I'm sure it makes me a worse player at times

I just hope they decrease the damn range on the javelin/soflam. On oman I got killed by a soflam/javelin that was on the aircraft carrier while I was flying a jet over the russian tarmac. That's is just absurd and shows that the javelin soflam combo needs a nerf.

The best way to fix it would be to make the javelin lose it's lock the instant the laser can't see a vehicle. As it is right now the laser painter keeps a vehicle targeted for like 5 seconds after it can't see it, and if someone launches a javelin during the 5 seconds it will keep tracking the vehicle even after it's no longer locked by the soflam. I'm 99% sure that's how the javelin killed me at such extreme range on Oman. For all the locked weapons the lock needs to break the instant you put an object (hills, buildings, anything...) between you and whatever has you locked. Right now the lock tone stays for too long after you can't be see, so you keep flying around whatever cover you're seeking even though they can't lock you anymore and 9 out of 10 times you keep going until they can see you again. This blows because it makes it very difficult to judge where the enemies are actually located so you can't mete out some justice on them.

that would make the jav/soflam 90% useless and just make jets and helos more of rape machines.

Playtested the accessories changes yesterday for several hours. Big buffs to heavy barrel and flash suppressor seem to have converts.

@Demize99 said:
Oh and for those who hate the USAS with Frag, the USAS didn't have the reduced frag rate of fire like others. Expect that to be fixed.

@Demize99 said:
Just so we are clear: The accessory balance goal is to give each accessory a playstyle. Foregrip + Suppressor will be the clear CQB combo.

@Demize99 said:
Heavy barrel long range, and fash suppressor midrange. Expect a full, detailed description of the change when it goes live.

Finally, thanks to whoever linked me to the awesome video analysis of shotguns. I've taken direct action on the great suggestions.

Oh god yes on the separate bipod/ADS buttons. That's the sole reason why I don't play support or with a bipod right now.

Zargon, yeah, we're actually on our own mumble server. If you are playing with us, feel free to shoot me or Goodrev a message and I'll send the info. We (Ok, I) prefer the ultra low-latency that mumble provides--no more "Look out behind y--awww, too late" because of voip lag.

PM me the info and I will install mumble so I can hop in next time we team up(or next time poq and I spend like 5 minutes killing each other constantly :p )

what shotgun video is he talking about, anyone got a link?

I linked it in my post

As if they didnt already have enough of an advantage. jav/soflam is one of the only things that require teamwork. Most games you dont even get that combo working. I say already the jav/soflam is useless 90% of the time. But thats the nature of the pilots in BF3...they think they should be in the air forever while raping everyone on the ground, even though 95% of the game is played on the ground.

news from Alan Kertz:

I swear its like Dice never actually played the game before releasing it. Maybe they were too busy making trailers and talking trash about COD to play their own game. They dont even appear to test their balance changes in their patches

Oh and for those who hate the USAS with Frag, the USAS didn't have the reduced frag rate of fire like others. Expect that to be fixed.

Cmon, the only reason people complained about Frag ammo was because of the USAS and people just spamming with it. So they nerf Frag ammo for every shotgun except the USAS..

On release you could tell after a few hours of play that most of those accessories dont do squat. These guys apparently dont play their own game.

Playing earlier this week, I came up on 3 guys capping a flag. I went prone on some rocks with my SV98 but couldn't get the bipod to work right, wasted about 10 sec. Had to go into a crouch to get my shots off. Ended up only getting 2 and then one of them respawned and knifed me.
