While gun camo is pointless, having assignments gives something to work towards so that the game doesn't get stale too fast.

I don't have a problem with the assignments, but give me something worthwhile as a reward.

If they made it worthwhile, that would be pay to win.

Eh, if they make it where when I complete say the new Lsat achievement, they'll give me 25k or 50k points or some large point total towards my next rank and a shiny new medal or "gun camo". I would be fine with that. The gun camo just seems worthless to me. Give me something else.

I have made it my life's mission (sad, I know) to become decent at the jet. I find it so difficult to manever. My already horrible K/D (I take one for the team...alot) is taking a beating because I am trashing jets left and right. Best I've been able to do is damage a gunship.

I find the whole gun camo rewards as EA's way of being lazy and a cop out as 'premium rewards'.

Yay...go into photoshop and spend half an hour creating some new shitty looking camo textures.

You are not alone, thats about all I ever accomplish in jet too.

Ive come to accept my ground pounding position in life and rarely jump into jet unless we have zero pilots and I think I might...just maybe.... have a shot at killing a gunship.

Try using the jet as an air taxi! This is the best way to put your team's assets to good, selfish use.

Hahah true. And you know what, if you're not playing on a server with a whole lot of players, and nobody on your team is taking the jet anyway, why not? If you get and cap at least one flag and don't die immediately, I think it's a + for the team.

I've done this whenever I am able, and I'd like to think that it played a factor in helping my team win each time I do it...I jump in a jet at the very beginning of a map and flies straight to the Gunship capture point and cap it while everyone is still dicking around at the very first capture point.

Protip: In the Jet, 95% of your maneuvering is done by pitching up. I assume you're trying to fly with the mouse and having a hard time moving the mouse around to maneuver. So, the way I get around this is to basically use the mouse to roll left/right and pitch down as needed for aiming, but all of my pitching up is done with the spacebar.

This allows you to turn continuously becaue you're holding the spacebar down as opposed to trying to move your mouse furiously to accomplish the same move. So, join an empty server, bind pitch up to spacebar, and practice flying this way. Just do strafing runs on empty tanks or whatever you choose as a target. You'll get the hang of using spacebar/pitch up to do you major manuevers, and fine tuning using the mouse.

I also have free look bound to middle mouse, and switch weapons bound to right mouse button. Pretty good jet setup if you ask me. I tried using a 360 controller, but there was too much lag in my movements.

If you get into a dogfight don't turn left/right to try and get around the person, do loops. It's far harder to track someone who's looping because the ground and sky disorients the crap out of the person trying to follow you. Looping can usually buy you enough time for someone on your team to help you or, or for you to outloop them and get on their six.

Anyone else actually use a joystick to control jets and choppers?

I just started trying to get good with the jets and it's not too bad. I have a hard time finding any ground targets though. I'm hoping once I unlock the laser guided missles it will make things easier.

I used to use my MS Sidewinder, but m/kb is just so much better. Mouse aiming is just so much more precise. I use space for pitch up too, which I read in this thread a few months ago. Makes it a lot easier to maneuver. I also use wasd for pitch and roll, but I mainly just use roll because again, pitch up is main movement and controlled by space bar. Mouse controls pitch and yaw. The heli wont really require pitch up controls the way a jet will. Its been working great for me.

Another thing, as far as finding targets. I Q spot everywhere, and if I'm in a dogfight, external view has helped keep the enemy jet in sight of we're in a turning engagement. Well everything is a turning engagement lol.

Well I pretty much stick to hardcore games so I don't think most of that is available.

I got tired of pumping whole clips into people before they die.

Q spotting and external view maybe, but the controls still apply. See which works best for you, joystick or kb/m.

I'll have to try binding pitch up to space, I gave jets the old college try last night and did ok for a first attempt I think.

I like them way better than choppers at any rate, the controls for those things just dont click with me lol.

How do you get to the AA seats on the Gunship? Whenever I spawn on it, there's only 2 seats, 25mm and 105mm.

Press 1 or 2 by default to switch between your main guns and AA.

On that note, how do I jump out of the AC130 when I need to bail, or is that even possible?
