I played for about 30 mintues before work this morning. Not a lot of time for conclusions but quick impressions:

The Alborz Mountains map is beautiful and is along the lines of what I have been wanting. More rural, elevation, cover.

Only played the Tank Domination mode. This will take 100% teammwork. Drive in there without teammates to repair you and you're dead in no time. Quickly seemed repetitive. Get in armor, drive, take out 1-2 tanks, die, rinse and repeat. However only played 30 minutes so lots of time to adjust. I think it'll be a lot more fun when people figure it out and it's a mix of soflam/javelin/armor all (hopefully) working together.

5:00 PM can't come soon enough. It is going to be a long 40 miles home.

Girlfriend is already salty because I turned down bringing the dog to the park tonight because of AK.

Never tick off the significant other :p

AK definitely needs a full voice team to be enjoyed properly. Can't wait to get in some voice teams later this week and weekend.

Loving the new maps so far, Alborz moutain is awesome for dogfighting because the mountains make things really interesting. I love the sense of verticality in Alborz, it's missing from almost every other map in the game.

I love it so far. Premium was totally worth it because CQ was great when you're tired of vehicles, and Armored Kill gives us the true battlefield experience.

Just played Death Valley some, looks like the only map I'll take in before I go off to work. I love the map. The control points are fairly spread out and with seven of them you can't really expect to hold them all. Tanks are tough in the map as each control point seems to have plenty of hiding spots for engineers rocket from. Snipers had plenty of areas to work from too. I think teamwork and voicecom will be huge for that map, and hopefully the other new ones.

Is there anywhere to get premium for cheaper than full price? I feel like I am getting suckered in to buying it so I can play it sooner than in 2 weeks...

Edit: Actually, all I really want is that premium knife..

Its $38 on green man gaming.

And they need unlock the DLC sooner. I waited up till around 1:30 and said screw it. Probably a good thing though, as all the L4D2 and TF2 I have been playing has screwed up my aim. Or the aiming mechanics changed.

Can someone explain to me if the hit detection is screwed up, especially in close proximity? I play with the .44 Mag as a sidearm and in every game, there's a scenario where I empty a full clip into someone's chest, body, standing right in front of them and they kill me and I see they have 100% health.

Also, unrelated - what's really annoying me is in every game I see people complain and misuse the word "newb". What's ironic is I think these are truly newbs (new players aka kids) themselves. They'll say things like: "Newbies and their shotguns" or "Stupid newb sniper". Whoa, when did using a sniper rifle make you a newb? It doesn't make any sense!

Random bullet spread? Dice implemented random bullet spread so the bullets don;t actually hit where you are aiming sometimes and it is much worst if you are moving and shooting. I know because I experienced a few of your scenarios with various weapons...

And suppression makes random bullet spread RIDICULOUS. If you screen is all blurry and your guy is shaking like he's withdrawing from meth then you are suppressed and you can't hit anything.

Last night I was 3 feet away from a guy and shot 30 rounds into his chest. Every single one missed, and I don't miss.

You were already dead. The server didn't tell you that you were dead so the client kept going on happily until the second after you think you killed him, at which point the client learned that the dude had killed you 2 seconds earlier.

It's how netcode works.

That is why 99% of the time I always have the squad anti-suppression thingy equiped...:awe:

The answer is because you are a noob and whining about getting killed instead of admitting to yourself that you panicked or were otherwise unable to aim precisely and rapidly and were thus gotten the better of by your opponent.

Also, unrelated - what's really annoying me is in every game I see people complain and misuse the word "newb". What's ironic is I think these are truly newbs (new players aka kids) themselves. Using certain weapons in certain situations is seen as a crutch and is looked down upon. Some examples include:

-trying to snipe at long range with a semi auto sniper. This is a crutch because the semi auto snipers are less accurate and do less damage, so most of the time to make kills at long range you have to spray and pray. Since most of your kills are thus the result of luck, you are looked down upon as a noob.

-using full-auto shotguns. These give you a high likelihood of making a kill at close ranges, but almost guarantee you are killed yourself right afterwards. They are essentially kamikaze weapons. This is looked down upon because it does not help your team to make kamikaze kills, nor does it even give you a good k/d ratio. It is a crutch used by players that otherwise can't get many kills at all. This also applies to using the grenade launcher or RPG as a primary weapon, instead of just for getting people behind cover.

I try and equip it when someone else has squad ammo, but I prefer the ammo because I shoot so much.

Stop spraying and praying and you won't run out of ammo.

If you are good enough to frequently go on killing sprees where you run out of ammo, you are good enough to get a couple more kills with your pistol. :)

My only option is the extra ammo. Nothing else makes sense for me since there are too many noob support players who selfishly run right past you as you are screaming at the top of your lungs, "AMMOOOOOOO!! NEED AMMOOO!"

EDIT: Its ok though, thats why you have your other squad mates all pick something different. We all get the benefits of the perks.

hehehe....this would be worth seeing...AT's resident aimbots trying to out do each other in accuracy.

When I join a game, firs thing I do is find a squad that has a variety of team perks. Nothing like a squad of noobs with everyone having squad explosives on.

And yeah, squad ammo is good. Most of the time I find myself running out of ammo and having to resort to flagging down a support for more ammo, and that has nothing to do with spray and pray.

I'm damn excited for this DLC, Close Quarters was such a let down. Only 2 more hours of work! If anyone is up for some teamwork and coordinated pillaging, add me. I will probably jump on around 7PM CT.

The one good thing about jumping on servers early today at 2AM = bunch of people were running around like chickens with their heads cut off... It was very chaotic in Alborez Mountains... you see high ranking colonels chat spamming asking what to do what to do! I had to tell them whatever happens capture and control Flag "E" because that gives your team control of the DC Gunship...

When people kept asking what to do I told them watch out for Yetis, Big Foot, and the Abominable Snowman that will run you over and give you a "Bad Luck" death...:p

Yeah but, a lot of times people are using those simply to earn unlocks on a new weapon or, thanks to the encouragement of DICE, using them to complete Assignments.

To accomplish certain objectives, I was going around as an Engi with both the DAO-12 and RPG on a few CQ maps. Those RPGs were flying like crazy. :D

On a regular map, shotguns are indeed somewhat worthless and tend to result in kamikaze runs. The intent, if this appears to be the case, is to at least get 3 for one, or more.
Depending on the map, it's easy to go for longer stretches with a shotgun in CQ. On more open maps, you won't be alive long once you get close enough to hit a few.

I've also slowly been trying to raise my Recon score, I've neglected it since launch - haven't really enjoyed playing the sniper role and so I'm terrible at getting good sniping positions. Aiming I seem alright, but it's the rest of the part I'm not so good at playing yet.
So I've been giving myself the shotgun as Recon (CQ), got the T-UGS unlocked (I told you, I don't play that class! :D), and got the one assignment done in like one or two rounds (get 20 assists with T-UGS) on CQ maps.

Normally I've just focused on playing and aiding the team, but I've been on an Assignment/Unlock spree myself. Trying to focus on the assignments that I've made decent headway on without focus, or otherwise ones that are simply enough to get in a night.
