My guess is that's why they haven't opened it up in the beta - map still seems to be pretty buggy.

Even still, I have more fun for the time I am in the server till I am dropped then any of the time I spent on the metro map. I will never play that turd again.

Caspian is what I thought it would be, I'll definitely be playing alot of conquest. Having good squads with voicecom on a huge map like that is going to make for many fun nights.

I keep getting disconnected when I finally do catch a Caspian server. I'm guessing that maybe hundreds of people constantly trying to connect to it causes some instability. I did notice weird lag spikes even though the server was 70 ping.

My cores maxed out around 35-40% in the Metro map, but they were hovering around 70% in Caspian. I wonder how much of that is the double player count versus the larger map and view distances. My overall framerate seemed to suffer on Caspian and I'm now pretty sure I'll go crossfire.

I got in on the myIS servers and got no DCs but they all lag HORRIBLY. I see some i3D servers now but the Appletini pw doesn't work there.

Interesting. I have roughly the same rig you do, and while I'm not tracking frames, I found Caspian perfectly playable (other than the server lag). Get that 6950 to 6970 speeds! How are people getting framerate? FRAPS?

I'm using FRAPS. I have the 6950 at 6970 speeds exactly.

In Metro I was usually hovering around 45fps, but Caspian seems to be running at 35fps mostly. It is still playable, but borderline. I do have to run at 2560X1600 because of my monitor though. I'm sure a lower res would provide a nice boost in framerate.

I just completed another match of Caspian and got booted for my troubles.

Can't play it. It launches to a frozen white window when I find a server. I had the same damn problem with BC2 and no idea how to fix it - many unfruitful attempts with EA.

I'm getting about the same frames as you, but with a 570 and +400Mhz on CPU.

Yeah, I saw no changes in the "update". And people are still falling into holes and through textures... which seems odd at this point with the proximity to release... but oh well.

Sigh, was having my best game yet on Caspian, and as always, the game just shut down (or disconnects).

Seems like every time Im doing well in a game I get disconnected. GRRRR!

Same thing happens to me too. I had no disconnects last night at all but tonight its every couple of minutes... I also have been having an issue where it will fairly regularly crash at the end of a round.

Yeah that Metro map is giving this game a bad rep. Caspian is like a whole different game..... Caspian = What BF is meant to be! Metro = Lets try to be like CoD$

The beta rolling out less than a month before release was odd timing. Blizzard had SC2 on beta a full 5 months in advance of its release, but you know, Blizzard actually cares about putting a polished product on the shelf.

Same thing here. Yesterday/last night no disconnects. Today I get maybe 10 mins then DC'd.

Somehow I think DICE would have preferred to delay this launch, but EA has sales numbers to hit and a ton of marketing money blown already... so I won't be shocked if there are a few months of patching. I'll be playing anyways, but right now it's incredible, but not as solid as I'd expect.

Ty someone who agrees with me about Metro.

Till Caspian comes out ill just stick to BC2 already have it reinstalled and updated and played a round and felt good running 150 feet without someone with a 870 for once...

I agree it is a publisher vs developer issue, certainly when dealing with EA. I still think an earlier beta could have ironed out a few more bugs sooner.

I see in your sig you are sporting crossfire 6950s, does crossfire seem to work for you in the beta?

Am I remembering correctly that...didn't EA announce the development of BF3 earlier than DICE wanted, or something?

If you ever played a DICE game, then you know it is never released bug free 100%.
Some of their games feel like the beta version at release. They just release patches after the release.

And it still wasn't balanced! But yes, I suppose it was polished.

Anyone else get full screen white flickering on Caspian? It eventually went away so I suspect it had something to do with the map still loading.
