I have 2 gigs of Kingston hyper X pc3500 and I use the box for video editing so stability is a must. Using the CPU-z test my ram shows 199.9 MHz and 2.5,3,3,8. In the bios it says 400 dual channel since i have it set to 400. Two newbie questions. Why does CPU-z say 200 MHz and not 400mhz....? Apples and oranges or a problem? Why doesn't the board default to 2,3,3,7 since those are the settings for the 512 sticks from Kingston and I have spd enabled? Running the 1007 final bios.Any help will be appreciated.

I just recently built a system using the P4C800 Deluxe MOBO. I am experiencing some problems of instability that maybe someone couls shed some light on.

Using the on-board Sound and Lan
Western Digital 7200rpm 120gb Drive
ATI 9700 Pro
2 sticks of 512mb DDR 400 PC3200 Ram
Windows XP pro

The system is very buggy, especially Internet Explorer. I am not sure where to start in trouble shooting.

My bios is 1007.

Problems experienced:

-- Internet Explorer kicks me off frequently

-- System Crashes

-- System Hang ups

-- Fatal Errors

I have updated all of the drivers and I am still having issues with stability. I am using the default settings in the bios.

Check the version of cpu-z. The older version reports the mem bus and not the ddr speed. (ie: 200=ddr400) Change the memory to manual instead of by spd and set it tighter. Be sure and check the mem stability with MemTest86 as you tighten the timings. My HyperX3500 will do up to DDR440 @ 2-2-2-5 with 2.85vdimm.

You may be having some issues with the 9700 Pro vid card. Set the agp voltage to 1.7v and that may help. The cards with revision numbers below -30 do have a known problem on this board. Get rid of the default settings and use the manual settings. This board does undervolt so you may need to increase the vdimm, vcore and vagp to get your system stable. edit: Not much - just one notch.

Thanks Jhites. You nailed it. I was actually running v118 until I read v117 was for the 875p chipset. Tested and running 400mhz dual channel. Fast enough for me and for what I am doing crashes equals lots of lost work. Video editing does like fast ram though and there is a trade off. When I get some down time I will play with it.

Jcop, I have a 9700 and it runs fine even with software that punishes the 3d render engine. Mine is set at 1.5v and is stable. The 1006 bios supposedly addressed 9700 problems.I have read on another Board that getting a bigger PS cleared up a problem with a 9700 and this mobo. What is your PS rating?

Thanks again jhites.

Problem with the new BIOS

Whenever i set performance mode to turbo under the clock settings in the bios on the boot screen it doesn't display the RAM speed type and if its dual channel or not

It just says checking NVRAM and thats it.

When Bios settings are on default it says

400mhz DDR dual channel linear blah blah

Why does it dissapear from the boot screen after you change this setting?

Am i still running at 400 mhz and dual channel or not when i run performance mode to turbo?

Also the only way i can get stable ram is if i have it on turbo... or else i get cycle errors running mem test... this is odd.

Any help would be appriciated!

Oh boy.. now im worried

I keep getting prime 59 errors and mem test errors.

I tried running my mem with every voltage setting and with performance mode auto standard and normal... what should i do?

What settings should i have to get the memory to run with out errors?

Well I run all kingd of Programs and work perfectly but today I install the 3D Studio MAX 5.0 and Start to have a lot of CPU usage. SO I quit the 3DS MAX and he hight CPU usage not change !!.. It´s at 50% of CPu usage, after I exit the program. So know I don´t running any program and the usage is on the 50% and the HD led is active ...
If I log out and log in.. this not change .. the only thing that I can do for repair the usage is to restart the machine...

My machine is:

windows XP
install SP1
CPU P4 2.4 800FSB
P4C800 Dlx ( bios 1008 )
2x512Mb DDR400 OCZ
Saphire 9700 pro ( catalist 3.4 )
WD800JB 8mb buffer
CDW
Zip
DVD
I dont install DX 9 yet

But the problems is only with the 3D Studio Max 5.0 ... ( I install the 3D Studio max 4.2 and do the some with the CPU Usage and the HD led ) !!!!!!

What is the problem?? I forget to install something?? Someone can help me!!!

in the TASK MANAGER > PROCESS i have hight numbers in:

>system Idle Process 45
>System 30
>Winlogon.exe 41

But this when I exit the 3DMX ... WHen I restart the machine all things are OK..

Randyman 1006 Bios - Fixed EZ flash fails if some VGA cards are used. (ATI 9700 pro) but not the problem that ppl were/are having with some 9700 Pro cards. Reported ways that help/not fix are: Uncheck write-combining under display properties/advanced/troubleshoot tab, SmartGart tab - uncheck fast writes enabled, increase vagp to 1.7v

Update your bios to the most recent 1008 and then use This Guide to re-install XP.
Set your bios to your stable overclock before you install the OS.

Anyone running that 1008 Bios? Does it really help the promise controller be more efficient?

Hi guys, I got the p4c800-e and 1024mb of corsair twinx 3200LL. The timings I get right now are 2.5-3-2-6 and I'm trying to get 2-2-2-5 from that memory. When I play around in the bios by disabling automatic SPD and making the settings manually I get a corrupted bios message. I trying changing the dram voltage to 2.75 as well without any better luck. Has anyone experienced this so far? Any suggestions please?

It didn't say what the 1010D bios fixed but I always look for more adjustments in the bios, didn't see any, but computer seems to run smoother, and boot faster!

toilet, for memtest86 or whatever i think your talking about... disable Legacy USB support in the bios and lockups/errors might disappear i had it when i tried and that fixed it.

Man i'm behind on BIOS revisions after only a week away :p

Hi everyone:

I'm considering getting the P4C800-E Deluxe and have a few question. Has anyone successfully run this card with everything enabled except with sound disabled (does it need to be disabled or does it autodetect you have your own card?)? And then I guess I'll have a GeForceFX 5900 Ultra 256MB as well as a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX and Adaptec AHA2940UW SCSI controller. Will there be any issues of IRQ/DMA sharing with these extras as I experienced with the older ABIT PIII Motherboards with the built in HPT RAID controllers where the HPT will not allow their resources to be shared with anything at all on any PCI slot that shares with it. Also, how does this board compare to the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP since I noticed on the Gigabyte, the Firewire controller is TI while on this one, it's VIA, are there any major differences? Also, for P-ATA RAID, is the Promise capable of single devices and does it work with stuff like CD/DVD-ROMs? As for the BIOS, I noticed that ASUS which used to use Award is now using AMI. Award/Phoenix (they are the same company now) are supposedly better BIOSes than AMI, atleast AMI had a bad reputation with the WinBIOS, is the AMI Bios any good though? I got 4 sticks of Hynix PC3200 512MB CL3 matched modules along with a P4-3.2Ghz which I bought from my friend who got these as part of the Dell Dimension XPS machines while he went and bought Corsair memory and a slower CPU. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i transfered all of my components from the p4p800 deluxe to the p4c800-e deluxe...before i could get up to 245 at 5:4...now i can only get up to 225 regardless of mem ratio...any ideas?

after detaching the heatsink does the thermal paste need to be reapplied in order to cool the cpu properly?...cause i have noticed that cpu temps are on average 5C higher on this board...or is it possible that i just didn't get lucky with the silicon?

Yes, you should clean and re-apply the thermal paste when changing the chip and sink.

I just bought a P4C800. So far i´m happy whith my choice. however, there´s something strange whith the 3.3 voltage: it's running 2.8. When i run setup, the monitoring doesn't detect anything wrong, but when i run the PC Probe, the monitoring say's it's out of the threshold (10% by befault).

Can anyone tell me if its normal (then i should increase the threshold) or else, what could be wrong?

Thanks.
