trininox I have the same issue w/ my matched Winbond memory. Normally runs at 320 and any attmpt to change that higher and the computer fails post w/ a checksum error (Bios usually ends up corrupted), I'm running the 1006 final version of the bios. If In over clock hen it drops the memory speed to the 200's.
I've heard that there is a version 1007 but I've not been able to locate it (if some one could post a link to it...)
Also when I look at the agp number it's still at 4x instead of the new 8x that is supported by the P4c800 Deluxe board, I have a Asus 4600 TI G4 card so I would think that it would support 8x agp, if someone knows what the deal is please let me know.

Hello

I am having a problem with the bios... I just put together this system and it says bios is not installed... im trying to update the bios but whenever i run the bios file from the floppy it says bad command or file name. How do i update the new bios? and why does bios reset itself every time i restart.

you can download version 1006 from the asus website, they have a specific exec file for 1006 you dont use "aufdos" or whatever to update to 1006 and as for 1007 the last i knew it was on beta 12 (1007-012) but i can get an uncorrupted download from the only site that has it, global (taiwan)...

my ATI 9800 Pro 128MB is @ 8x AGP

LINKS! woot

Quick question: I am getting a P4P800 Deluxe and have 3 sticks of 256mb ddr ram... how is that going to work?

can I do 2 in dual ddr mode and 1 in regular mode? (somehow i doubt that will work) Or I just cant use that 3rd stick until I pair it with another?

got one last week over here in the UK.
nice board but am having problems trying to get my cdrw which is the only device on the secondary ide channel to use dma. I use a scsi hdd & peripherals so S-ATA has been turned off allowing me to use both IDE channels.
I suspect that this may be a bios bug which will need addressing. :(

hey everyone... I got an Asus P4C800 yesterday... and so far seems to be a very stable board, but I have a problem, the ide/raid promise controller, I connect an parallel ide hd to that controller, and when I try to move files between that hd to another parallel hd in the southbrige ide controller my windows freezes... I have to reset the system.... I'm not using any kind of raid configuration. I read the some of you have the some problems... does anyone find a solution to it? the system is Windows XP... I tried with sp1 and without it... and I always get the same problem. I don't want to use Windows 2000 because it doesn't support HT technology...

It says in the manual that if you use DDR333 with a 800FSB that the memory will only run at 320mhz... it says it's because of a "limit" off the chipset. *shrug*

The new "Turbo" option seems to boost performance quite a bit too. I got 17200 3d marks in 3D Mark 2001se first run. System specs in sig.
You have basically my exact same system, except I have Kingston RAM. Are you running 2 sticks in dual channel mode? I can't run at 2-2-2-6 unless I'm in single channel mode.

Yes I am running 2 512MB sticks of Corsair XMS memory (the matched pair) and I can even run them at 2-2-2-5-4-A but it does crash sometime. But I don't know if it's the memory of this Leadtek Winfast 2000XP that I will be removing after I capture what I need to capture........... my system has gotten really touchy with this expansion card installed... doesn't matter what the memory timings are it keeps crashing. =/

Yeah but I'm running 3200 mm which is supposed to be at 400. It's the 2700 that run at 320 (333).

Flakk, the answer is in the manual:
DIMMs installed into any three sockets will function in single-channel mode.

because most people prefer to get the non-deluxe solely because of the ICH5R, personally i would rather have the features of the deluxe and for those who really think they need ICH5R (some would debate the setup with 3COM and Promise is better) the P4C800-E Deluxe is there for not too terrible a difference in cost (40 between deluxe and E deluxe, not sure about regular)

I've heard of benchmarks somewhere with the Asus P4C800 Deluxe versus the other canterwood boards with the ICH5R southbridge - from what I hear the Asus board is still faster even on the gigabit ethernet than the other boards pretty much even though it doesn't have CSA or whatever. I've gotta find that review... would be interesting to see.

Hey guys... i have a question.

Ok, I am running this mother board with a 3.0cghz chip and im having this problem.

The problem is windows xp. When i put together this system i set up bios first to clock to 10% using the AI overclocking. The system was running smooth at 3.3ghz. I was getting good temps.. 30 degrees C.

Well i noticed that my RAM was running at 266mhz while the 10% overclock was on. I have 2x512 kingston 3200 dual channel hyper x ram that can run at 400 mhz.

Well i went into bios and changed the setting in the "manual" section to 400mhz and then changed it back to 10% overclock. When went to load up windows displayed either a system file missing error , NTFS error, or the loading screen flashing then the system restarts.

I ran some tests and the system runs faster at 3.0ghz and 400mhz ram than 3.3ghz 266mhz clock. I want to know if there is a way i can clock while having the 400mhz ram speed!

Please help!!! I would like to know the most efficient way to clock my set up!

Thanks!

Try running manual for the fsb and set it to 220fsb with the 400 for mem. This will run the memory at a 1:1 ratio and would actually give you DDR440. If your mem can handle it, this would be a faster setting. You can run the mem vdimm at 2.85v which should be possible.

Andy, has this fixed a lot of issues with this board?
I'll be buying the parts for a new computer (Finally, after 2 years of this Athon beast!) :p probably later today... And I am thinking this is the right board, but... Browsing through this thread I see a lot issues - some major, some not.

Also, what's the diffrence between the P4C800 and the P4P800

Thanks much!
