Hmm, how about the guy actually leading two triple crown categories right now :hmm:Three words: Cano Triple Crown.
And I can't stand the NYY but jesus, this guy ate his Wheaties this year.

Not going to happen though, Cano doesn't have the power and Miggy doesn't have the average. Oh wells.
Lots of division races have gotten interesting lately, mostly the NL East and AL Central. Should be fun.

Obviously he has power, but I don't think he has "lead the league in home run" power. Similarly, Cabrera has a fantastic average (.320-something), but that's usually not going to win a batting title. I doubt Miguel leads the league in homers when it's all over either tbh, but he'll be ahead of Cano.Cano doesn't have the power? His SLG% is .593 (4th) vs Miggy's .624 (1st). He just doesn't swing for the fences e.g. way more singles.
It always interesting being a Padres fan. The Padres have the third highest win % in baseball, and yet all of us still expect them to end up in last place this season. Attendance is down 2% from last year, and last year was a horrible year.
Really though, I love how well the Padres are doing, but when you trade away the few stars we had, it's going to take a lot to get fans to show up.
Yes, my usual pessimistic Padres faith has been restored. I'm mainly just still wondering where the hell these good players came from.15 games over .500, 4.5 lead over the division, 3rd best record (1st in the NL), Adrian hitting like a monster (and still not getting all-star voting respect), Venable's bat starting to heat up, Latos pitching like a staff ace and the bullpen just stifling bats in the late innings. I'm guessing you've had your faith restored rockyct?![]()

Well, I think it's been all about the pitching this year. I can't find the stats, but I remember the bullpen being pretty bad the last couple years and they've really turned that around. They sure aren't out slugging anyone, but when your bullpen can keep the game close or hold slim leads, you're going to do well.they were there all along, they were just hiding behind brian giles, ryan klesko, henry blanco, cha seung baek and khalil greene.
how bout them Rangers? We can open up a huge lead if we win the series vs. LAA this week.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Padres' relievers are on track to be the first in Major League history to throw at least 50 innings in a calendar month, finish that month with an ERA below 2.00 and with a rate of 10 or more strikeouts per nine innings.
The Padres' bullpen has posted a 1.77 ERA over 71 1/3 innings so far in June, with an average of 10.85 strikeouts per nine innings.
Well, Zumaya just destroyed his elbow. I doubt we'll be seeing the 100mph master again before 2012, if ever.

Seemed like more of a freak thing, although there's no doubt that he's incredibly injury prone. It's not even supposed to be possible to break your olecranon with a throwing motion.Yep, his pitching mechanics are horrible and was an injury waiting to happen.
Fuck Frankie Rodriguez. K-Fraud is a fucking clown and an overrated piece of shit. Another high quality start by RA Dickey and this dope blows it.
<sigh> I know most closers aren't that great (except for that Terminator named Mariano) but man is Frankie wild on that mound. Go get 'em tomorrow.
Jim Thome moved into 10th on the all-time home run list with 2 home run's today. Moved past Harmon Killebrew.
