Javier Vazquez has another aweful start today. With Park down right now, I wonder when the Yankees will make a move for a decent starter/long man. The Yankees pitching isn't nearly as good or as deep as they think it is...the only reason it wasn't aweful last year was because they scored so many runs per game. The Yankees have 3 highly questionable starters in Burnett, Vazquez, and Hughes. Not good.

With the way the game started today, there was no way that the Yankees should have lost. Cervelli is great at calling games with starters who are struggling and even he couldn't help Vazquez, you know, get batters out. I'd rather see something done sooner rather than later.

Also, Nick Johnson needs to be moved down in the order. The Yankees are struggling early in ballgames because both their 2 and 3 hitters have averages under .150. Not good. Gardner performed well in the 2 hole yesterday, going 3-5 with a triple and a stolen base. He's also left handed and can pull the ball through the hole at first base if Jeter gets on. He doesn't have the power that Johnson has, but Johnson certainly isn't getting it done, and it can't hurt.

Couple of problems the Yankees have that are going to blow up on them if they don't get resolved one way or another.

Javier Vazquez is garbage. He should be a ton better, but for whatever reason still sucks.

Complete game 4 hit shutout for David Price in only 108 pitches. Rays with the best record in MLB.

On the downside, 4 caught stealing and the average 23k in attendance.

Their fan base is just sad :(

I guess FL only cares for their football teams.

I'm going to try and stay optimistic this year. That this continued winning will lead to good things long term. It took the Bucs some time before their continued winning led to consistent fan support.

On other fronts:

The Brewers and the Pirates played football again: 17-3.

The Brewers have outscored the Pirates 53-4 in their last four meetings, including a three-game sweep in Pittsburgh last week during which Milwaukee outscored the Pirates 36-1 -- including a 20-0 rout on Thursday.

I can hear Jim Mora saying "Are you kidding me?"

And Ryan Howard extension: 5y for $125 mil.

A good old fashioned single admission double header today between the Mets and Dodgers. No Manny Ramirez which is a good thing for the Metropolitans and I hope they can continue to get nice pitching from the starters and bullpen. Sure would be nice to see some offense from this club especially from David Wright who has been stone cold for awhile.

Roy Halladay was smacked around last night by those Gigantes of all teams but that happens even to the best pitchers. He'll get the Mets next which should be fun..I think. lol

Tigers/Twins have a little 3 game replay of the one game playoff of last year starting tonight. Twins have been killing everyone and the Tigers have been holding their own too.

Yeah Halladay had a .82 ERA before last night. I was hoping he could finish lower than Bob Gibson's 1.12 ;)

Side Note: Is Chone Figgins really batting .179? I know it's still early but sht. You'd think he would see more pitches to hit with Ichiro getting into the pitcher's head on first. Epic fail so far for a .300 hitter.

Mets with a 9-1 homestand after sweeping the Dodgers today. The pitching has been good and some decent offense (at least Bay and Wright are finally getting hot at the plate). They head to Philly this weekend which should be a fun series. Halladay will probably pitch a shutout but I am looking forward to seeing him pitch against the Mets and see what they can do to him..if anything. :p

Tim Lincecum vs Cole Hamels now on MLB Network. I rarely get the chance to see Tim pitch so I'll watch a few innings.

Errors killed the Tigers last night. Just horrible fielding. Game 2 tonight, Go Twins!

I'm hoping for some wins out of the Mets series, we need it after going 4-6 in our last 10. Damn it Philly. :p

Nice win for the Mets last night in Philly and I'm happy with the way the team is playing. Nice job by Niese as well against that tough Philly lineup. Today its Pelfrey vs Halladay and I'm hoping the Mets can do something against the tough Philly ace. Halladay has a 2-2, 5.55 era record against the Mets though I don't remember any of those games and that record doesn't mean much anyways. I hope Jeff Francoeur can play because if he doesn't it'll mean that god awful Gary Matthews Jr in right field. That dude needs to be dfa'd already.

...so how 'bout them Natinals? lol They are playing very well too. They won't be the doormats they've been for years. Maybe they'll finish .500 this season? Probably not but when Strasburg comes up they may have some sellouts at DC to see the kid pitch.

Philly needs to start playing to their potential, instead of the garbage they have been pulling.

Greinke (0-3) allowed four hits in his 10th career complete game and first this season.

Greinke threw 65 of 87 pitches for strikes and did not go to a three-ball count.

• Zack Greinke only went to a 2-0 count once all day.

• Only one hitter for Tampa Bay saw more then four pitches in an at-bat Sunday.

• Greinke retired all eight leadoff men he faced.

Damn! Who would've thought that he lost. The Rays blew them out for 1 game, but then got nailed by the Royals pitching. Still, our best April ever and 20k at Trop for Sunday. :)

Baseball and Detroit Tigers legend Ernie Harwell passed away. Being in NY I didn't hear him much but I remember seeing video from his farewell speech last year which I'm sure tugged the hearts of Tigers fans.

Meanwhile my Mets are going in reverse after their nice run. lol typical

Also, Tim Lincecum is mowing down the Marlins big time (11k's in 5 innings...jeez)

/rose for Harwell

Wow Lincecum has 11 through 5? Going to pull up the Game tracker for that, he has a chance at the record.

So Bobby Cox was honored on Capitol Hill and something about that cake seems a bit off...

That guy is hot garbage. Why he plays MLB is beyond me.

Well now Bradley is admitting he needs mental help. About time.

The M's would be great if they can pick up another studly hitter instead of Gutierez doing all the work this year. First Eric Byrnes and now Bradley, they can't catch a break. Oh, and Figgins is still batting .200 and needs to wake the fck up.
